    Hi sir!
    your style of teaching is impressive.
    i have a question about gerund. let you give me a sentence, please tell me about what a usage of gerund word (fearing) in this following sentence:
    fearing they would die in one of the heaviest attacks.

    • @EnglishWithAshish
      @EnglishWithAshish  3 года назад

      Thank you for the appreciation.
      Your example isn't a sentence; it's a part (phrase).
      Fearing they would die in one of the heaviest attacks, they stayed inside their houses.
      Or
      They did not go out fearing they would die in one of the heaviest attacks.

    Si hay algún hispanohablante tratando de dilucidar cuándo usar infinitivos o gerundios en inglés, lo que yo veo aquí es que si en una oración hay dos verbos (o lo que consideraríamos un sustantivo derivado de un verbo 'acción y efecto de'), como en 1. "Fumar no es bueno para la salud", 5. "Él está interesado en luchar/la lucha", 7. "Todo lo que amo es enseñar/la enseñanza", 10. "No me gusta tu actuar/tu actuación", el verbo que lleva la acción se conjuga de acuerdo a su persona y tiempo, y el que queda en el predicado (donde nosotros usaríamos otro infinitivo, o un sustantivo) adquiere la forma "ing" del gerundio (que para nosotros suena como "fumando no es bueno para la salud", "no me gusta tu actuando"... pero así es el inglés). ✌
