Marc I was lucky to learn about the big and small of music for music sake, as your step-son. You said once, to never stop being on the receiving side of music. This piece of music here really echos this and thanks forever for instilling that and other mindful abilities in my struggle to play.
I was so lucky to see Mr.Copland live at Smoke in Manhattan with John Abercrombie promoting the 39 Steps album (which is a GREAT album imho) and wow can this man play. The whole band was remarkable, but your chord voicing were so lush and sublime. I know one can't Monday morning quarterback their life, but I have been practicing/playing/gigging for so long as a serious hobby, and and I know I will never play at a level anywhere near Mr.Copland. While it tears a tiny bit of my soul out every time I fall short of the level I wish I could play at, I take solace in having enough ability to truly hear and recognize a wonderful musician.
