I decided to bake Mother Johnnie Ruth Irving's Pound Cake that's been all over the internet. I really tried to envision Mother Irving being in the kitchen and making this cake many years ago. Watch & Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS I USED:
Baked at 325 degrees for 1 hour 20 mins. (Time may vary depending on your cake pan and/or oven.)
2 1/2 C Cake Flour
2 1/4 C Sugar
3/4 C Sweetened Condensed Milk
3 Sticks Salted Butter [Room Temp]
7 Lg Eggs [Room Temp]
2 Drawer Tsps Lemon Extract
2 Drawer Tsps Vanilla Extract

My mommy cooked with salt and pepper, sometimes cayenne pepper and paprika for garnish. That’s it. Her food was amazing. She’s the reason I started watching your channel. When she passed, I could cook but my baking skills were horrible. I came across your channel and I decided to try again because you made me think I could. The pineapple pound cake was the first one I made and it came out amazing. I was so proud of myself, I walked around the neighborhood giving people cake. They were my testers. Now I get calls from my siblings to see what kind of cake I made so they can come get a piece or 2. I’m definitely going to make this one. Thank you for being you.
This is similar to my story. I can cook but I lacked confidence in baking and then I tried the Sweetened condensed milk pound cake!!!! Baybae amazing 😍💥💯
Yes! This is that cake that my grandma used to make. She didn't have a stand or hand mixer; she had that big ole metal spoon and one of those deep basins that she used to beat up her cake batter, and she would beat the mess out of that thing! (That's why those butt beatings hurt so much if you had to get one from Hercules Grandma!) And then, after she put the cake in the oven, she told us to go sit our butts down somewhere until she took her cake out of the oven - and walk to where you are going to sit down too because she was going to get us if her cake fell! And then she brought us that basin so we could eat the cake batter! Whew-what a memory. Thank you for sharing this recipe so that I could bake this cake and remember my grandma!

Lord have mercy! I made this cake last night didn't cut it until this morning bcz I was debating on putting a glaze on it! Glad I didn't this cake is absolutely delicious. I'm heading to the grocery store and believe me I will be picking up a couple more cans of sweetened condense milk!!

That was a nice tribute to Mother Johnnie Ruth Irving pound cake. You did wonderful. It put me in mind of my mother in the kitchen making her pound cake. We used to have it with jello or ice cream, or her adopted son a cold cup or glass of milk. That just brought back so many memories.❤😊

Currently watching as I eat my vanilla pound cake that I made using your pound cake for beginners video. My cake turned out great! I learned a lot that I didn't know the first time I made my cake, which didn't turn out too good, lol. So glad I find your recipe and your channel. I love that one too. It’s is delicious…….but, the condensed milk harden the cake…..yet it isn’t dry. So , I had a cup of heavy whipping cream to it. It’s a great recipe!

I made this cake today, I used vanilla extract only and it was perfect. I used bakers joy and powdered sugar to prepare the pan. I had heard about the powdered sugar in a Facebook group and it worked great. Thank you so much.

I agree, however I held my breath and sprayed my pan with Baker's Joy.....thankfully, it turned out absolutely beautiful with a wonderful golden brown crust. We love us some Ms. Donna!

I am happy God is blessing you! My dad was a pastor for most of my life and I know how much work goes into pastoring and just dealing with people! I remember us walking in from Sunday morning service and the telephone would be ringing to talk to my parents mainly my mom. I used to get so upset because my mom very seldom ate Sunday lunch with us as a family. People dont consider the pressure that a pastor and his family deal with 24 hours 7 days a week. I remember people would get upset when my parents took vacation. This is just a work of the devil trying to discourage. God will bless you just keep up the good work

My mom told me about this cake and the way she described it, I just knew it would be perfect for my Easter table (I don't think I should have made it on Friday, because yall, THIS CAKE!). Then I found your video at 6:30 Sat morning and you and your husband just made my heart smile. You definitely took me back to the day when crisco and flouring the pan was the kid's job and if we were lucky we would get to lick the spoon and the bowl. Donna, a "drawer" teaspoon is a spoon from the silverware drawer! During their time they used what they had in the kitchen. The small spoon was the teaspoon and the larger the tablespoon. Usually it was a larger amount than our typical measuring spoons. That's the difference.
MS DONNA I MADE THIS CAKE 2 DAYS AGO USING KERRYGOLD BUTTER. THE CAKE WAS VERY GOOD! I'M SO USE TO USING REGULAR BUTTER WHEN BAKING BUT THIS ONE WASN'T BAD AT ALL. VERY GOOD CAKE.
