@magnus4852 This is the only problem with the Cycling Lands is that always glow in your hand because you can cycle them. So once I took forever to put the cards on top of my library I forgot I hadn't taken my land drop. Oops 😅
Liked to see you try it! List is not bad, but looks a bit one dimensional and clunky - 4 drop is overloaded, cheap interaction is lacking in quantity and divercity. I'd cut mystic, archeomancer, breath weapon to play 60 cards, Cast into the Fire and Dispel/Spell Pierce. Second copies of Mystic and Breath Weapon are much better as sideboard cards in my experience. Also, with energy package third Ephemerate should definitely be Jolted Awake - it adds a lot of variety and power and works where Ephemerate would not. Some sideboard against Affinity wouldn't be unwanted, like 1-2 Revoke Existence, and it is already better here them Gorilla Shaman (you can kill destructible lands with Cleansing Wildfire). Madness Burn is actually quite positive matchup for Jeskai, you can very well deny its enablers and win with repeatable lifegain and card advantage. Unfortunately Jeskai is not well positioned right now - in all tier-1 matchups it feels like worse version of Izzet-terror. Unless you are expecting a lot of Cawgates, Bogles, Dredges - there is no reason to play it over UR. It is still powerfull and fun to pilot though.
@TheForesterf I like everything you said. There are so many configurations that this deck could be that I had no idea what build to play. I like 2 breath weapon in the current red heavy meta but I like all the other changes especially lowering the curve. I also mention at the end I want more artifact exile for the board as well. Maybe I should have asked you for a list before the video but I always record these at the last minute.
@@TheForesterf Can you explain why you think UR is better right now? They’re very different decks in my estimation but what matchups do you think UR is more favored
@@KM613 They’re very different decks as you said. But they share a core of lorien+brainstorm+augur and use mostly the same interactions (red removal and sweepers, counterspells), so in many gamestates and matchups function almost identically. That makes it easy to compare them in context of meta. My thoughs on most popular matchups: 1) Monoblue/UB terror. Historically bad matchups for Jeskai, quite positive for Izzet. 2) Kudotha-Red. About 50% mu for Jeskai, Izzet is heavily favored here (4 taplands against 10 in Jeskai, manabase is more stable generally, more cheap interaction, Breath Weapon works better). 3) Broodscale-Glee. Not bad for Jeskai either, but Izzet is still better due to more cheap answers to combo and less need to tap out on its turn. 4) Grixis Affinity. Both decks are equally good against it. 5) Gruul Ramp. It maybe slightly better for Jeskai, but hard to judge as Gruul is so dependant on its starting hand and draws. So overall I'd prefer to play Izzet when facing all popular decks.
I’m trying out the energy package as well because I don’t want to pick up Skreds but worth noting someone took an Affinity version of this deck to my locals and did well. Galv Blast being able to go face seemed good. He closed out a game Vs Madness Burn by casting 3 in a row which was obviously very lucky. He had Kenku in over Mystic and I saw Inspiring Overseers/Spirited Companions as well as the red Archaeomancer. Even saw a Thoughtcast. Seems like an interesting alternative to the Energy/Snow lists
i used to use memory lapse as counterspell 5 and six.. Because not letting your opponent play and only drawing the same card when they try to play is so demoralizing... and hilarious..
Been on 2 Ephemerate and 2 archaeomancer for awhile, surprised your not running jolted awake in the energy package, although 1 tune isnt enough for that card
Just copied a list without too much thought. The 3 Ephemerate did feel too many. I could see trialling a Jolted Awake in that slot, it can always bring back an Augur or cycle if you do that have the energy.
@Kirblinxy bright back many mulldrifters with it too. Having one in hand with the energy to use it means you can bait counter spells a bit, and then looping it can be great
May I ask, why did you cast brainstorm at 18:02? If because it couldn't get countered by spellpierce, this is not why we should cast it. We want to use it to set up our augur, shuffle away cards we dont want, etc. It ended with you down a brainstorm for no value :( Something to consider for future brainstorms, to get maximum value from the card! Good luck in the leagues!
Probably should have held for longer to fix with Augur. It was because I was against fae so I saw an opening where there was no SSS or Pierce so I took the shot. Incorrect, probably but that is my reasoning.
It makes sense to take an open spot if it was a card like preordain or consider, but not with brainstorm. Yeah, we go up a card, but now our next two draws are locked out, so it's more of a problem than helpful
I swear to God, Pauper is literally the only format where control or tempo players always draw three Counterspells when they are one third inside their deck by using a single cantrip..
At 50min, when u had to triple block the bogle, was it possible to declare only one blocker, one mulldrifter and ephemerate it to cancel the combat damage ? Or does trample goes through it?
@io-di4xw Yeah, having early interaction for non-creatures seems good in the matches I played. 3 is probably too high, I can see putting in 2 cutting the Tune and a 4 drop.
@@Kirblinxy yeah 3 would definitely be a bit much in main, but I could see myself maybe siding the third if the meta shifts to favor the non blue/red decks
@@superluckyhappylife2358 the card was never really all that good. It does all its jobs poorly and there are better options for whatever you’re trying to do. It’s versatility is not worth how poor it is at everything
I built this deck in paper and i regret it. It's really good at drawing and ramping, sometimes at controlling, but never good at trying to win. Its too reliant on specific cards like mystic that can be strong but are very slow. I added kenku artificers to have at least one other way to win.
Kenku is a cool card that sort of helps stabilise like murmuring Mystic but a turn earlier, I don't think it helps close out the games any quicker but a nice option if you know they can't kill you Indestructible lands.
it's funny you say that you regret building it - I finished foiling it out half a year ago, I love the deck :P if you want to try and win quickly, you picked the wrong deck :P I had a game vs Familiars last week where I won with 1 card in deck after a 45 minute game :P Kenku is a very reasonable flex spot for the deck, but I view it as more of a roadblock than a win condition - murmuring mystic also closes surprisingly quickly if unchecked - casting 2 spells a turn and getting two birds is not an insurmountable task, and if those birds don't get answered, you're swinging with multiple 1/1 fliers and it just accumulates
I draw three dead cards?!
This is jeskai for ya. Only good cards only topdecks
@kalikaiz At least it has good cards unlike some of the other decks I've played recently 😅

If you do that it would full trample and you wouldnt block any of it.
Trample goes through it
Damit! First game you should have done a very annoying spite to MTGO to get treated so badly 😂
It's fine. You can't draw well every time. I usually just blame luck rather than the client. Sometimes it just happens.
Only 53 minutes in, but I'm feeling that if this deck had 2-3 spell pierces it would have helped a lot.
