Another edit: Everybody keeps asking why I hate the song and i also hate repeating myself so ima just put it out there like this😂I used to really like it, but it got a bit overplayed to me on social media and I also had to listen to it A TON while making this for accuracy. But I can still appreciate it, maybe I just need a break from it💀

to anyone wondering, the reason why hotel and from the start work so well together is because they are both part of the bossa nova genre (commonly called "elevator music") and have the same exact rhythm and the same type of chords being played. the thing about hotel is that it's an extremely simple piece of bossa nova that can easily be sculpted into any other bossa nova song. in short, this is the same as mashing up two rap songs or two pop songs. ofc they'll work together when they all have the same structure.

I actually put the riff for from the start into the measure right before the melody comes in, just so it felt right. But the styles are so similar the lines start to blur with stuff like that and i think that's pretty cool
