Steaming milk: I’m still working on this myself. What I aim for is hearing a slight churp (tearing sound). I do that until it gets somewhat hot (100+/-), then I bury the wand to blend milk... all while causing the whirlpool
Glad to see that you got the grinder working, great job! It'll be interesting to see the comparison, and if the difference is little to none, will you stick with the Barista Express grinder?
Agree - that would be interesting. Also, I wonder if the barista express shortcomings could be mitigated by adding/removing coffee (playing with dose).
I totally agree that the shot quality goes after sitting more than 30secs or more. However, when I steam milk first with barista express, it seems to effect the shot as well. I think the machine gets too hot and temp gets off by doing milk first.
Yeah that's what I've heard. it would be interesting if someone could try checking the temperature of the water after steaming, and if it helps to purge some hot water out first.
I tried to find a direct email for you. I won the bid on the expobar office control. The wife was mad(what do I need a different machine for?). If the new one is good I'll sell the Barista Express.
@@wa8dpv I think Baratza is better choice than Breville Pro. Barista express internal grinder is same as Breville Pro but Pro give you more grind ranges than barista express.
Hello Hoon, Thanks for the video, I converted my Mazzer to single shot and very happy put in 20g get 20g out.

does it have a doser ?
I have a bid on a used Expobar Office Control machine. I’ll know more tomorrow. It’s a heat exchanger machine.

For my next video, I'm going to compare Barista Express and Mazzer.

How fresh is the coffee?
Timer should start from the time you start pulling the shot. As far as shot quality goes, you can detect different flavor profiles as the shot cools.

Great to hear it Bruce. How's your grinder?
I have an old Starbucks grinder. I'll probably get either a Baratza Sette 30 or Breville Pro grinder.

For goodness sake Hoon....dump that bloody breville and get yourself an expobar or an ecm whatever...get serious.
LOL. I was thinking the same thing. But the price on a ECM is lil much
