    Brilliant. You do amazing work, and your production is way better than i could ever do.
    I finally got a chance to broadcast a few planets the other night, or morning rather :). I had been on all the day the before with Solar and Lunar, and a couple of hours making a fool of myself failing to collimate my new scope with a live audience for 2 hours. Just to get them in view was enough.
    I got all 4 Gallilean moons on the left ofJupiter, and could pick up 4 moons around Saturn too, with the exposure ramped up to 5 seconds. Mars was tiny and only 85% lit. I'm so excited to my beloved planets back this year. There wasn't really anything worth capturing yet, but it won't be long.

    Question. How can u tell which is the planet or stars ect…..?? Cuz they all have same dots from distance. Thanks 🙏

    • @thephaneron3676
      @thephaneron3676 Год назад

      @kimla4807 Good question! I don't know all that much about specific positions as planets change where they're found throughout the year and display retrograde motion (hence their moniker as wandering stars). But I can tell you this; *all the planets will be found straddling on or within a few degrees of the ecliptic any time of the year.* This is the arc in the sky that intersects and crosses the celestial equator (above the middle of earth at 0° latitude or 0° declination) at an angle of *23.5 degrees which is Earth's axial tilt.* The celestial equator terminates exactly in the geographic eastern and western horizon, 90° orthogonal to the north and south celestial poles, so this arc will be found within 23.5° of these positions.
      The ecliptic is the "disc" of the solar system as it relates to the sun. Most planets fall within and orbit the sun 🌞 within close range of the ecliptic.
      Why does the 23.5° tilt matter? Because if earth had no axial tilt, the ecliptic plane of the solar system would match up and align perfectly with the celestial equator. This offset is what gives us our seasons.
      Furthermore, inferior innermost planets like Mercury and Venus will be found *within 47° of the sun at any given time* which is why they're predominantly visible within 3 hours of sunrise 🌅 or sunset 🌇, hence their "morning and evening star" moniker. They'll never be seen at opposition to the sun late at night or midnight like Mars and Jupiter can be.
