I used to be a fanboy of Yasir Qadhi. I used to listen to him a lot. Wallahi this Yajuj wa Majuj lecture of bothered me a lot when I first was listening during his series of Signs of Judgement Day. I had to listen to it twice to understand what he was taking about. I still didn't get and couldn't believe what he was saying. Then Alhamdulillah refutations came across from Sajid and others. At first I found myself defending Yasir because I loved listening to him then after listening to refutations against Yasir I had to accept the truth. I had to choose Islam over blind love of a "scholar" who keeps making huge mistakes. Never follow anyone blindly. There are a lot of real and trustworthy scholars around the world. Listen to them but never follow anyone blindly.

The fact that you got confused after his ya'juj ma'juj lecture showed that you already followed something blindly, why did that lecture bother u? because u already followed a commonly accepted narrative, and hearing something different is strange to you, but hey, thats fine, everyone does that, but its what you do with that feeling is whats important innit? but it seems like you didnt do the right thing with that feeling and instead u went on slandering an esteemed scholar on the internet, so keep on telling yourself to never follow anyone blindly, but just know that you yourself need that advice the most, take a look in the mirror m8

I feel sorry for the people who are into this 'follow' culture. Once they start following someone they don't bother to do their own research and become zombies themselves. While it is the responsibility of the educated to pass on the right knowledge, we as laymen need to realize that scholars or speakers or students of knowledge even, are not infallible. And in today's times with the ease in access to information, we need to go back to our sources and confirm everything to the best of our ability.

For example I'm a layman muslim
I want understanding of Islam that is the closest to the truth
What can i do? Find someone who is knowledgeable, wise and has credentials
I know that YQ has credentials and I personally found his lectures to be nuanced, wise and beneficial
So there are 2 possible ways i, a layman muslim, would dismiss YQ's position on anything
      1. Some 'alim with good credentials who i find wiser and more knowledgeable comes along and refutes YQ's position. Then i would prefer this new 'alim's opinion over the opinion of YQ
But I don't see that 'alim. With admiration to every caller to Islam, I don't find Farid and Daniel and Sajeed etc to be nuanced and wiser etc in their content, so I won't prefer their opinion over YQ's
      2. YQ says something that goes directly against clear aspect of Islam
You talk about doing "one's own research" and "right knowledge", but what if Quran and Sunnah don't establish clearly that these tribes are alive today (that hadeeth was found problematic by Ibn Kaseer, for example). So is YQ's position "wrong knowledge" because he adopts a minority position while having precedent?
And am i wrong for following him so that you should feel sorry for me, my muslim brother?

There is nothing wrong in "following" I fact it is a good thing to follow and now invent things in the religion, however you follow the scholars of ahld sunnah wa aljama'a who take their views from their salaf and now make up stuff from their brains, you said yasir has credentials and is wise, well get what ? Everyone has credentials today and as for wisdom, you can't know truly who's wise or dumb in the deen if you yourself is a layman, and yasir qadi is not ( a mujtahid) or someone who reached the level of ijtihaad mutlaq which makes him worthy of being follow on his views as a reliable scholar, and I can tell you that a mujtahid would not fall into the issues as yasir did, so Don't be building conclusions based on a false premise, so if you wanna follow, then follow those who are not upon innovation rather they teach the religion as it was taught from those before them, and this is exactly what the Messenger pbuh said "the saved group is those who are upon what I am upon and my companions" meaning that islam is clear and you should stick to what knows scholars of deen say not even joe and shmoe, if we follow random dudes just bcz they got a degree every now and then, and follow their weird absurdities that clearly go against Islam, then in just a 50 year period, you'd end up with a new religion totally different from Islam, so may Allah make us from those who follow the path of the Messenger and those after him and not of the innovators .

I’ve watched many of his lectures and I came across this Gog and Magog video recently. It’s just strange to me how inconsistent he is with the topic of Ya’juuj and Ma’juuj.
When it comes to other mysteries, he says: “Allah knows best about the mechanisms and realities but we accept it.”
Yet when it comes to Ya’juuj and Ma’juuj, he’s like, “How do you explain a tribe living behind a barrier for thousands of years?“ and he’s coming up with all these crazy theories.

Sh.Yasir is arguing that the current existence of yajuj and majuj is not explicit anywhere in the Quran and Sunnah and therefore it is not necessary to accept it as it is, the same you would for other miracles - the Resurrection etc.
It is NOT confirmed in the Quran and sunnah that yajuj and majuj are currently alive so why should he have to accept it as he would other confirmed miracles?

@@Kimeikus The point is that there is no reason to believe it. If there was then there would be no difficulty in believing it. Since the world mostly mapped and understood, it is hard to accept that billions of people are alive somewhere behind a wall, you would have to believe that it be a miracle. By definition, some miracles are those that cannot be explained by natural causes - hard to believe without Allah swt. Thats what he means by it being difficult to accept in that regard.
The idea that someone is thrown into fire for an extended period of time and survives is hard to believe, however none of us doubt for a second that this happened to Ibrahim AS, because Allah makes all conceivable things possible and it is easy for him. But sheikh yasir is only arguing that it is difficult in that regard, not that it is hard to believe that Allah swt can make it happen should he so will.

I have never been a fan of Yasir Qadhi or any of the so-called "celebrity Imams or Sheikhs". I converted to Islam in the early 90s, so this was before the internet transformed so many of Ummat into "Mashaayikh". A couple years after my conversion, I was blessed with the opportunity (الحمد لله على نعمه التي لا تحصى) to study under some traditional scholars.
Even after over 20 years, I still remember one of my teachers telling me to beware of "celebrity Imams". It's one thing for someone to become famous because of their knowledge, piety, and adab. If this wasn't the case, we wouldn't still be talking about such giants as Imams Abu Hanifa, Shafi, ibn Hanbal, Malik, their students and the Imams of hadith and so on رحمهم الله جميعا. Traditionally, it was understood that a seeker of Islamic knowledge knew his or her place so to speak, and conducted themselves with a sense of التواضع humility. Unfortunately, nowadays, someone with a B.A., an M.A. or even a PHD or perhaps not even any of the above, readily give Fataawa without hesitation, or their own "personal ijtihaad". These same people would not even have been allowed to speak in the Majaalis of true scholars let alone give their opinions. The sad thing is that so many are being mislead by them. أسأل الله تعالى أن يهدينا ويحفظنا جميعا

8 major benefits of Astaghfar in the Quran.
    1. It opens the doors of mercy.
The Quran says, “Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.”[Quran 71:10]
    2. It will give you wealth and children.
The Quran says, “And give you increase in wealth and children.” [Quran, 71:12]
    3. A Believer’s Dua gets accepted.
There’s nothing better for a believer that all the duas that he or she makes in hopes that they will one day get accepted by their lord, actually get fulfilled. Astagfirullah has the power to make a Muslim’s duas get accepted.
    4. Astagfar provides sustenance.
The Quran says, “Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favour his favour” [Quran, 11:3]
    5. A Muslim is not punished while they seek forgiveness.
The Quran says, “And Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness ” [Quran, 8:33]
    6. Allah will send the rain of mercy.
The Quran says, “He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers.” [Quran, 71:11]
    7. Adding strength in our lives.
The Quran says, “. . . ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength.” [Quran 11:52]
    8. Allah will provide you with gardens and rivers.

      Your reasoning is wrong.
To believe in something in the future is different then to believe in something that is occurring in the present.
For example, if I tell someone I will help them move houses next week, and the person I’m helping has knowledge that I’ve done this before and knows that I’m also currently helping others , then it isn’t impossible for them to believe that I will do it for them as well.
But if someone was to say, I have a Bugatti and big mansion at this location, yet no one can find it, then this belief is blind and merely trusting someone without any evidence. Yasir Qadhi argued that Yajuj have died out, therefore no one can find them. But they will come out from the graves when Allah orders this. His conclusion might be funny to you, but it’s either he believes this or become a ex Muslim and abandon Islam. Because to believe that there exist today a nation bigger then the current population of humanity, behind a wall. And not a single person have found these people is hilarious. And any average person will see that your faith isn’t built upon truth but cope.

Unfortunately, certain Najdi Salafis, who hate Yasir Qadhi, made this into a big issue and made it seem like he was putting this forward as his main theory. What about their story with Dhu Al Qarnayn which happened in the past. Did Zombies exist in the past? The zombie theory clearly rejects all this (unless if you wish to brainstorm and expand on it to include these points as well). In addition, Yassir Qadhi said that this theory makes more sense than what is in the Qur'an and Sunnah. with respect and love to my fellow muslim, why don`t you make a poll which takes into account what percentage actually watched the whole video of YQ, not clips cut by you and others and put online so that people who already don`t like YQ read in and make the worst assumptions? no one who knows YQ`s methodology and actually watches his videos with all his disclaimers and remarks and caviats will say that he was "making mockery of the deen" like you said.
we all make mistakes, but the way Farid, Daniel H. and others blow things out of propotion and cut and paste when it comes to YQ who is sincere and has studied Islam extensively and is respected by some senior ulama and has put forward so many videos millions of muslims benefit from. tell me, how much of his thousands of videos is wrong? 1-5 percent? is it so important that you ignore everything else he has done and that you spread misunderstanding and hate and fitna among people with this massive bias and your cut and paste?
do you really think this is beneficial? if there`s one thing that makes people i know stay away from their deen it`s how much polemics and accusations and fitna there`s on the level of people of `ilm

Subhanallah, I couldn't have said it better. Again I also hope the best for brother farid, but do we seriously think that a twitter poll has any meaningful value when considering this topic? Right away there are flaws in using this data as (1) the people who vote tend to be people who follow you and are aware of your previous content on YQ and (2) there is no way to determine whether the people viewed the *entire* lecture or just the clip (or didn't even bother watching smh).
Let us not waste our time in such fruitless endeavours. And let us use our ability to genuinely think with an open mind which our actions truly benefit the ummah. May Allah guide us all.

Wow, so much energy and effort put into making a video to divide muslims even further over a misunderstanding. YQ was making a side point about the possibilities of future events that none but Allah know.; this isn't haram as far as i know, scholars will have opinions and theories but they are human and allowed to interpret things based on their scholarship. We have to give the shayukh and teachers some space to teach without criticising their every word; this is extreme behaviour unfortunately and a lot of us are missing the manners and fiqh around iqthilaaf. How many events described in the Quraan and prophetic Sunnah are described in terms that didnt happen literally or we couldnt fully understand until after the event. YQ even said 'allahuallam' in the video; its clear it was a point that he was making without it being his primary message. If he wanted to undermine the religion or make light of the sunnah dont you think there would be stronger examples; are we just going to forget the mountains of hours of good he has contributed that blows that theory away? Allah help us.

The prophet (s.a.w) Abubakr ,Umar. Uthman ,Ali (r.a) the tabieen did make not that possibility .what gave him that rights . its haram when you bring a teaching in which the prophet(s.a.w) did not bring . If so everyone can interpret according to his/hers unserstanding but we say ALLAH said ..... His prophet said.... we those shuyukh and scholars teach something that is against the teaching of the prophet (s.a.w) we refute. . YQ has an intention to reform Islam when he says there is holes in the QURAN, qomut lut should be given their rights, mocking our scholars the list goes on . By the way people refute the mistakes he is doing . This is not personal but keeping the deen as it was brought by AL MUSTAFA (s.a.w )and passed down by the sahaba and tabieen until now.
