The problem with the air conditioner may be because you are over using the unit and then it is causing it to freeze the insides and thus not working. Hope this helped

Heads up, if you do decide to go cut wires, make sure the power to the unit is turned down, the colorful wires are connected to the thermostat and are always live but won't hurt you too bad, avoid the black and red wires 220 v ac you will die immediately
