Hey Ranjit. Thanks for this video. We bought one of these to extend the range of the WiFi in our house but I couldn't connect to the 505 if it was in repeater mode at first. Found out that you need to upgrade the firmware. When I did, the thing worked like a charm.
Since this portable is equipped with USB port ( however mainly for DLNA/UPnP support) but can i use the same for usb printing? i have a basic HP Laserjet 1020 plus printer with an USB interface which i want to connect anywhere locally over my existing WiFi network and don't wanna have dependency to connect my printer to my laptop for printing purposes...

Correct me if am wrong, but either as a REPEATER or HOTSPOT i'ts pretty much doing the same thing. Extending you already present wifi signal within your home or office. So which mode would be better to use? I have my modem-router connected to my desktop in my room, so to provide my wifi enabled TV in the living room better signal strength, REPEATER or HOTSPOT would be good? also considering i might use other wifi portable devices in the living room or around

What is the use of Internet port on this device? I mean can i use it as Input lan connection from another router, to make it as a repeater? so still the sharePort works?

Great Review...I also am using this device...but have one problem with it...the switch provided to shift between Router Repeater etc...is ver flimsy...doesnt go easily into the middle setting...apart from that...this works great...
Nice review thanks. Was looking for something like this. What can I carry to create a wifi hotspot in say a hotel rooms? Currently in a place with wired only, and am using one Macbook Air to create wifi for the other, but would prefer in future to use both laptops on wifi, so don't have to be near the cable outlet.
Question is my Air has no ethernet port, as you know, so I'm using a USB to ethernet convertor. Will I be able to login to admin panel with a cable attached to the USB convertor?

Hi Ranjit thanks a lot for the information. I have a question. Does it work with ethernet connection. I stay in a hostel and we have to configure the proxy, wins, gateway and other settings in our LAN for using the internet. So please tell me If ill be able to configure those settings or not.
Which one is the client mode here, is it the Wifi hotspot mode you are referring to, because the other two are AP, and Repeater mode.
And how good(range and signal reliability) is it when compared to TP-Link NanoTL-WR702N and TP-Link Mini Pocket

Hi geekyranjit. After seeing your review I bought one of these to replace an Asus travel router that I forgot in a hotel room (2nd time).
The Asus supported "wifi account sharing" which is very useful in cases where a hotel charges USD20/day for wifi access (with a webpage login) but then limits you to connecting a single device. In that case the Asus could share that paid connection with multiple devices.
Do you know if the DLink "hotspot mode" is capable of this function?

A big hall that is 100sq feet.. thats a 10x10 room...?? just wondering if you have used it since what the best distance you have achieved?
The settings on the parent network are WPA/WPA2 and the encryption is TKIP/AES. I don't think the problem is my original connection because it works perfectly with all my devices. Also, I'm able to connect and browse with this router in repeater mode on my mac book pro, but not with any of my phone devices, meaning that this router, as repeater, is working as well. I wonder what's stopping the phones (4 separate models) to go online?

I have Dlink DSL 2750 modem in my bed room but the WiFi coverage is very poor in Hall. So it it posible to add one more DLink dsl 2750 router in Hall as I have telephone line from MTNL there as well. CAN TWO ROUTERS CAN BE USED IN ONE HOME NETWORK.
