    She is correct about ending things if you’re being disrespected, same goes for being abused. I know so many people who are too afraid to leave. It’s sad. A better life can only be accomplished by leaving.

    • @AvaNightingale
      @AvaNightingale 3 месяца назад

      Lol it's not just the fear, there are almost no shelters for DV and even fewer for those with special needs or Tech abuse specifically happening to them. 😂 What do you know about the barriers exactly? NOTHING.

    • @davinasquirrel7672
      @davinasquirrel7672 Месяц назад

      Errrm, you know that when a woman is leaving an abusive relationship, it is the time she is most likely to be killed? About half killed by current male partners, the other half after leaving them (most being killed within the first three to twelve months of leaving).
      It is not about the woman's lack of self respect, most have a genuine and very valid fear of what he will do if she tries to leave. Even the cops are wary of turning up to a DV call, and they are often armed. But you want an unarmed woman, usually smaller, less strong, to what?

    Feel like people always spill their secrets to me. And since they use to go deeper than what they perhaps intended they regret and even sometimes either avoid me entirely or opposite; try to (mis)use me as emotional support.
    So consciously I try avoid asking questions where they are prone to open up. But being understanding and not very actively prying ironically make people open up even more.

    My father demanded that I LIE to him because he wanted to believe or live in a fantasy of my brother and me, specifically. He wanted us to always be “happy” in our lives.
    He didn’t care at all if it were true. The objective when talking to or seeing him was to make HIM feel better. He saw us as extensions of himself and he didn’t want to live in a world that didn’t appear “perfect.”
    The saddest thing about my relationship with him when he passed was knowing that he never loved me for who I actually was…he really loved and actually appreciated MY LIE.
    If I ever treaded on TRUTH or REALITY, it enraged him if it was disappointing or contrary to his PERFECTION FANTASY.
    I was taught to lie about who I am to make others feel better. I’m very good at analyzing what makes others happy. It’s so strange.

    I already remember something my Mom once told me as a child (continuing on from Evys child), and she said, "I always know when you've had a bad day I can read you like a book." And that was the first worst thing she could have possibly said because then I thought I don't want to be read like a book, and then my mind went straight to what I should do to be less readable. If she hadn't said anything, she'd be able to still read me, but because she did, my mind went to now I've got to hide the real me.

      Scary as a parent how an innocent statement like that could lead to such a response. Not sure the context, depends on the attitude that was with it, but it sounds to me just an emphasis on how close our relationship is. It doesnt sound like a general criticism. I guess it reminds us as parents to add some positive spin whenever we point out something critical. But that's hard to always do on the fly because we often get into "advice mode" easily without thinking that "this could have a bigger effect than I'm intending unless I condition it very carefully."

    • @alcudiababe1
      @alcudiababe1 4 месяца назад +1

      @mhzprayer there was no attitude. No mean vibes or nothing just that as soon as she said that I thought I didn't want to be read that easily and if she could read me easily and wanted to continue doing that my common sense agrees with Evy you haven't got to mention it.

    I am still at 50yo, trying to unlearn my childhood-instilled "speak only when you're spoken to" mentality, wherein, i only speak/spoke to someone, only if/when someone speaks to me, first. In that, for me, one of the most difficult things for me to remember to do is actually ask someone (to whom in speaking) about him/herself. And this comes across as me being selfish, all about me. But I may realllyyyy want to know about the person; but I'm still trying to get around that basic "speak only when spoken to" conditioning.

    To Connect to people: Be empathetic, ask questions, listen, be warm, be respectful, have compassion, not judgmental, be professional, be your word, show up on time . Don't disagree and don't make everything about yourself. Don't argue with people that are clueless about facts that you know because it's a waste of energy. Have good boundaries at the beginning, then later you create warmth (open, approachable, accessible to talk to).

      Omg! Absolutely correct! I had made a lot of mistakes harmful to myself because I followed the advise "don't judge a book by its cover". After long track of being hurt by terribly bad guys, this is the wise and trustworthy advise, ladies: first, you need to Judge A Book By Its Cover, and let's see where it leads to. (Trust your first impression if it shows that you don't like the person or you aren't interested in him).

    Taking notes...
    * Building a relationship organically in a professional setting through being respectful, professional, warm, approachable, welcoming and empathetic instead of being wanting to like as it is manipulation.

    Beautiful said I love how people don,t like you but sometimes you can be compassionate and passionate but some don,t understand the goal and concepts that you would like but you have to have others options and collaborate to see if you have a genuine connection and desire

    Cheistmas Eve...and here I am. I really like Lewis. Lewis is genuine and masculine and intellegent and good looking with a nice physique. I was going to find a movie I knee was good and saw Evy as guest and paused here. I like Psycology. I'm a ppl watcher. I often feel people, which is sometimes inconvienient. Lewis is always a great interviewer. You don't feel agenda, you feel interest. Evy can say more in an hour than a class. Going to relisten and take notes of things to ponder. I'm going to save 4 her book. Merry Christmas all... Peace and Contentment ~~

    The "getting them to like me" thing, ugh!! If you do this, STOP. It's a disservice to them and it's a disservice to yourself. Especially when you're dating... If you're just trying to get the other person to like you by mirroring them and all their likes to get them to like you, you're lying about who you are, which always has to come out eventually. Then BIG SURPRISE, disconnect happens. Waste of time and feelings get hurt.
    Be pleasent but be authentic. If it doesnt mesh, it doesnt mesh. That's okay!

    Interesting conversation and great tips, thank you very much for sharing! ❤ FYI : The numbers about the verbal and nonverbal communication are only correct when there is NO congruency (Albert Mehrabian). This is misinterpreted very often. When WHAT we say is congruent with the HOW, these numbers don’t work in that order.
