    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  4 года назад

      Thanks too, for watching! I hope you learning something man. I've decided to end 3D modeling for this project at episode 10. Of course we could go further to do columns and other structural elements, but I will be doing those in 2D for the remainder of this project. Maybe in a future video I will do columns, and column footing.

    • @krishamilton4778
      @krishamilton4778 4 года назад

      @@TDVision_U was wondering the same about the columns because in Trinidad our standard must have columns.
      Our max standard spacing is 15' c/c anything above requires an engineer.
      I would have a lot of questions as I am next to AutoCAD and the construction field.
      Also in Trinidad we have a 4" slab between the foundation blocks and the external 10' wall.

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  4 года назад +1

      I am just seeing this comment. You're correct. Some people place the concrete slab between the sub and superstructure. In Jamaica we build the walls out of the ground all the way up. You're also correct about the columns. Hopefully, I will be adding stiffeners in this building in a future video.

    Thanks for showing and explaining the basic organization tools behind this. Looking forward to going back through the videos before this one. Have questions about the construction/engineering: Since each slab is floating free inside the room, is this supposed to represent compacted earth under each slab section, or are you thinking you'd put a ledge under the slab perimeter in each room? Not yet very familiar with how the intersection tool works, but hopefully there's also a way to tell it you want to subtract from the tops of the walls and keep a continuous slab across the floor plane. Is there something in the selection order which tells it which component to subtract from? Thanks for the vid. Nice grid structure early on. Love the select and extend similar items.

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  Год назад +1

      That is correct. There is a way to pick what subtracts from what. This design would have compacted earth beneath the slab.

  • @patrickbellefleur5508
    @patrickbellefleur5508 Год назад

    Tip. If you want to avoid a Grid, just set up a control point in your template at an monument such as a building corner. Also, you can copy any construct and move the level up or down and delete the information you don't need. Learned this stuff from " Mastering Autocad Architecture" book.

    Excellent videos and very well paced! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a question, how can I adjust the footings on a monolithic slab? I'm trying to extend the lateral footing to be thicker.

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  Год назад +1

      Thanks man! I'm glad you like. If I'm understanding your question, you would like to change the width of the footing? It's pretty similar to what we did in this video at 13:52 (ruclips.net/video/omwB1ZyDqHA/видео.html).
      In the Edit Style dialogue, select Components tab, then in the Width column, change the value from "BW" to whatever you want it to be (example 18"). Make sure that the Edge Offset column = Width/2., then select OK.
      I hope this was helpful.

      @@TDVision_U Thanks. I was using Concrete Slab on grade with turn down footing which was the closest to creating a monolithic slab but I still couldn't edit the inner edges to a 45 degree angle instead of the 90 degree (square cut). Is there any way to edit the inside of the edges?

    • @TDVision_U
      @TDVision_U  11 месяцев назад +1

      You could possibly use wall sweeps to do that. Technically the way I did the foundation in this video is by using the Wall Object to create the footing. The Wall Sweep command should be able to give you that effect. I've never done a video on wall sweeps so you will have to do some research.

    • @TDVision_U

      Building the walls straight up from the foundation to the height of level 1, is one method we use in Jamaica. But the slab can also be placed on the top of the foundation walls.

I have one question: is there a way to avoid the door threshold being subtracted when subtracting all the walls on the floor slab? otherwise, I would have to manually add all the threshold.. Just wondering if there is a better way to do it? Thanks!

    • @TDVision_U
