    Ya know, the more I think about it, the more I like Blind Fighting Style in Tashas. For a fighter, even at 10', blindsense has a number of ways of proving worthy. Great video Fred!

    Hey Fred, great video! I agree that invisibility is probably one of the most varied rules in the game by DM discretion.
    Going by the book (5e PHB), I disagree with you on how Hide and Search work with invisibility (00:02:22) so I want to see if I have it right.
    Normally, an invisible creature is considered heavily obscured for the sake of hiding, but they must use the Hide action to make their presence and location unknown (being seen and having location known are not the same). This means casting Invisibility will still require the invisible creature to take the Hide action to completely stump enemies as to its location, and it must beat their Passive Perceptions with its Stealth check. Doing so will force enemies to use the Search action to figure out the invisible creature's location as they attempt to roll higher than their Passive Perception scores. They still can't *see* the invisible creature, so the invisible creature is still an unseen attacker and is heavily obscured, but the invisible creature's location is discovered by those passing the skill contest (Stealth vs Perception/Investigation).
    This is one reason Arcane Tricksters are great; they can become invisible with a spell and use the Hide action as a bonus action on the same turn (assuming they are willing to stay put or move half speed).
    Anyone see a hole in my analysis per the PHB rules? I want to get this right. 😃

    so I am starting a game as an artificer and this makes my gears grind with excitement because it is a challenge. So depending on the DM, I would say like a grenade or smoke bomb. Now if according to the DMG under fragmentation grenade is correct it had a 20-foot radius. That's a big area. So take that and somehow encase it in a breakable but sturdy case with a layer of flour or if it is allowed like glowing dust that is like faerie fire but the nonmagical version. That is an idea that I was thinking of when you said flour.

    • @HowtoRPG
      @HowtoRPG  2 года назад +1

      A flour bomb is what your suggesting, I think? That might work better than a bag of Flour. There is also the risk of an explosion if a flame ignites the floating flour dust.

    • @LunarFoxfyre
      @LunarFoxfyre 2 года назад +1

      @@HowtoRPG that is true but if you are trying to find an invisible npc then that is a good way to clear the area pretty well. If I can make glowing dust or glowing paint or ink that would be a little more useful!

    a bag of flour and gust of wind spell. I use that as a PC in my a2e campaign at the moment. My DM hates me for it 🤣.

    Many great suggestions. I have had players use the bag of flour to find an invisible stalker
    This sounds like a class at adventurers guild. Now I'm thinking about an adventurer teacher NPC.

    Detect magic doesn't work on invis because auras only show if it is visible. For the same reason, detect magic can't see through a Disguise Self spell if you have one of those proof against detection and location amulets, so anything you magically obscure with the Disguise Self won't show an aura because it isn't visible (unless you investigate the Disguise illusion or have true seeing through a non divination magic mechanism)
