What I found absolutely insane is how Megamind felt like a better person as a villain than as a hero. At least when he was a villain, he was funny, witty, and not exactly morally corrupt. AS A HERO THOUGH, he's a narcassitic, dumb, and annoying person. He feels like a parody of his former self.
I completely agree. I watched the first film before this new one and “evil Megamind” is 1,000 times more likable!

The entirety of the cast act completely different in the movie except like, Minion. So weird that Roxanne and Megamind act like they have nothing between then and are forced to pretend to be a couple just after 2 days from the events of the first movie where they clearly loved each other by the end.

Well, I'm glad the villains from the concept art and the video game came back, but apparently, they weren't executed too well.

The worst part is that they could have totally used the concept of " group of bad guys attacks metro city and megamind has to stop them " in so many better ways. They could have been villains from other cities who come to Metro city after hearing that the Metroman-less city is no longer under the control of a villain, but rather some new pluck hero. That’s just one of many ideas and you can work them into many other plot lines, revenge, redemption, introduction to some higher caliber villain council who are trying to take over the world, you name it.

The way he ended it saying that he hopes they make a true sequel got me thinking and pretty happy. It'd be nice but feels even less likely that they could retcon the entire second movie that no-one will watch and make an actually good sequel
I think that the first Megamind movie is a well made one, (I like watching it) and that the best thing we can do about this situation is forget about this poorly made cash grab film, and believe that the short film: "Megamind and the button of doom" that can easily be found in a Blu-ray physical copy of the first movie, is the true Megamind 2 sequel. That one has the original voice actors in it, and it does take off where the first one left off.

You know funnily enough i remember that this plan was actually something Megamind did make un the comic book where he finds a button, and the hologran head of him literally starts counting down to send Metro City to space 😂😅, so i don't know if this was taken from that or not
Edit: Also you know one thing i kept thinking when watching this, why doesn't Megamind just separate every member of the doom syndicate then used the De-Hydrator to turn them into cubes so he could safely send them back to jail, also why did the Syndicate habe free reign in the jail with their villain outfits while Megamind was placed in a special cell in a prison jumpsuit

I think Megamind simply can't and shouldn't have a sequel. There's nothing left to be told. If anything, only a prequel could be interesting. Adding new characters ruins the first movie. The whole meaning of the first movie was that Megamind and Metroman were two sides of the same coin. When Metroman "died", Megamind had to find a new reason to live. Adding other villains or other heroes ruin this dilema. Besides, the powers Metroman and Megamind had were because they were aliens. There's no magic in the Megamind universe, and shouldn't be. If you think about it, if Metroman follow Superman logic, his powers come from the earth sun and are based, even if vaguely, on science. There's 0 logic in something like doom syndicate to exist. Also, by adding more powerful or villainous characters Megamind isn't an outcast anymore. For me , part of the reason Megamind felt so bad after Metroman is gone is because in the end he knew that in the whole planet Earth Metroman was the only other like him. Everyone else was human and that lead to both of them struggling with having connections with people. Megamind was awkward, bullied, hardly interacted outside of the prison guards and Roxane. Metroman on the other way also never developed any deep connection , but at least he had a passion for music that motivated his living other than saving people over and over again.
Another possible plot to Megamind would be if they expanded the family. But they can't either, cuz their both families and planets are dead. Reviving someone wouldn't just feel forced ( why would they only find Megamind and Metroman after years and years it they got to Earth so quickly? ) but again would make weaker the philosophy of the first movie. And don't get me started on children I can't take animated kids anymore. Shrek did it, hotel Transylvania did it, nobody cares about it anymore.
As for the prequel idea, I think that if there was a movie telling Megamind and Metroman ascension and first battle more in detail, I think there would actually be more depth to it. Although I'd like the movie to focus on Roxane and Metroman more. I would like to know what motivated Roxane to be a reporter, how she ended up working with Hal, her childhood, etc. Metroman isn't a shallow character as people remind him of being, and I think seeing him learning to become a hero and - on the other hand - his passion for music that ended up being discarded would be nice. I think the movie could've had a similar aesthetic to the Incredibles opening. It's the only way I can't think of a new movie about Megamind that's actually interesting and just doesn't retell the story of the first movie or ruins it. Sorry I just really like Metroman and he appears so little in the first movie and is completely ignored in this God awful second one.

the night-knight has the lighting
the w o m a n has the modelling and facial expressions
the bomb voyage has the animation quality
and the lava skylander has the special effects.
all of them have have seperate effort put. its like if you killed them in a self aware game, they release the quality of the game. killing the **woman** gives megamind's ability to emote and able to look as expressive as he used to. killing the knight would release the lighting of the movie to the whole world. and so on.
it's so odd.

When you think about it Megamind is a Rip off of Despicable Me.
Going by that logic, The Joker movie is also a rip off of Despicable Me (the main character is a villain 😱)
Animated movies take years to produce, so it’s probably just a coincidence that both films feature a super villain turned hero storyline.
But Megamind didn’t adopt any children.
They aren't rip-offs of each other tbh. They just have a lot of similarities (but also a lot of differences).

This is the absolute worst example I've seen of flanderization, and i can't even say I'm surprised. Not even some of the VAs returned, let alone writing staff, and it's been 14 years. So you got a bunch of people that hardly know anything about the series writing for it, and they choose to completely misinterpret his naivety in the first film for outright stupidity, and the isolation he felt for dependency.
Honestly, the premise on paper, taking Megamind out of it, doesn't sound horrible, it could've worked. I just don't know why they decided to bring back such an old IP, and care so little for it. And it's not like they thought it'd make money, it went straight to streaming.
