  • Saturday marks 25 years since two seniors at Columbine High School committed one of the most infamous school shootings in American history, killing 12 students and a teacher.
At the time, the massacre in the suburban Denver town of Littleton was the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.

On the flip side, if the movie “Dawn Anna” is accurate, Lauren Townsend was the youngest of four from a ‘broken’ home (the movie shows the mother finding love and remarrying).
When her mother became sick, she, her siblings and her older sister’s boyfriend got together to help each other get to where they needed to go AND help mother with medical appts.

This tragedy happened when I was 8 months pregnant with my second child. I remember the sadness I felt for these precious angels. The Oklahoma City Bombing April 19th, 1995. April 19th is a significant date for the Branch Davidian siege at Waco Texas. My best friend died on April 19th, 1985 at the tender age of 15. I still miss you everyday, my Dixie. My husband dated our D papers on this date. April 19th is a horrible day for so many reasons. God Bless.

My daughter was 6 years and 7 days old on April 19 1990...the day she died peacefully, finally free from the pain of a disease inherited from my husband and me. Every time there is a school shooting anywhere in the world, I cry for the parents. (There has never been a mass school shooting in Australia, even before our gun laws changed.) I will never understand how the toxic worship of the "freedom" of gun ownership is more important to those "Patriots" than making the country safer for everyone. I count my blessings that I know exactly how my daughter died. Many of the parents of those children killed in these tragic school shootings will never know if their child died quickly or if their child was screaming out in pain for them. How can more children Under 19 in the USA die from gunshot wounds than children in war torn countries??
When is enough EVER going to be enough? When will it EVER be time to stop the condolences and prayers and begin to Unite the States to make changes to protect the most valuable of all commodities, children?

And while this incident wasn’t the first school shooting, it was roughly the first that occurred with two shooters and really got high level media exposure. Obviously doesn’t make the unknown or largely forgotten shootings any less tragic. Virginia Tech is still considered as deadliest school shooting. 😢i remember getting ready for school that day, my little brother's younger than I sat beside me as we watched kids like us pour from Columbine, it was when I realized how dangerous bullies can be and learned that the "adult" population was naive content to rest its fault on music or clothing style.

No, Colombine didn't change anything...and that's the totally tragedy for the victims and their families. People may never forget but despite all those crosses and graves, NOTHING has changed to make the USA or its schools a safer place despite security guards and bulletproof backpacks and ALICE giving lessons on how to zigzag!
On March 13, 1996, at a school in Dunblane Scotland 16 young children, aged five and six, and their teacher were slaughtered...and then the people campaigned to change the laws. There has NOT been another school shooting in the past 25 years in the UK (but in 2010 12 people were shot and killed and in 2021 another 5 people were murdered...a total of 17 people in 28 years!)
Similarly, on April 28, 1996, 35 people were killed in a mass shooting in Australia...and 12 days later all States United to change the gun laws! Since then, there has been a total of 9 people murdered in two mass shootings and both of the perpetrators knew their victims. BTW There has NEVER been a mass school shooting in an Australian school!
Where is the freedom to live without the fear of being killed at school, or in church or at a movie theatre etc etc etc etc ...(and all those other popular massacre sites like parades or sporting celebrations) Whe is the USA going to register and check on people who bought a gun at the corner store! And that's the tragedy of the USA that needs to change everything!

My Dad and Uncle were there that day of the shooting, My Uncle ran out the lunchroom, and my dad was one of the few students who was in the library, my dad says it was the scariest moment of his life and he told me something that gave me chills and its that he looked right into the eyes of Dylan Klebold. Without my dad's calm.bravery I wouldn't be here today, him and my uncle both,

I remember this very well. I was in high school at the time, and my school was very paranoid that something like Columbine would copycat, so we were virtually under 'lock down' in terms of our freedom to move about during lunch, etc. And just a depressing time, right before the end of the school year. May all the vitctims continue to rest peacefully...

My birthday is on April 19th, so happiness and sadness are a day apart for me.
Ever since a student at my school has announced to do something like this and I’ve written a term paper about the news coverage of Columbine, I often have to think of what happened, especially today. During my research, I saw so many things I didn’t want to see. I’m from Germany where unfortunately, school shootings have also happened.
Last year, I spent a semester abroad in the US. Whenever I was in class or in a building in general I wondered where to sit or stand so that I would not be killed immediately if somebody came in and started to shoot. Throughout time, I (sadly) got used to that uncomfortable feeling. I will never ever forget the victims and although I wasn’t even born when this shooting occurred, I’ll always feel deeply for the 13 victims🤍🕊️

The question to ask is this what could make kids carry weapons into school? What is disturbing the minds of kids going to high school? The schools has not done enough to address why the mental health of kids has deteriorated up till that point. What would make kids to orientate into that state. It's sad that instead of address it, parents and the government prefer to just avoid it altogether but how do you stop future occurrence.
