      @greyhikes5236 hahaha, yeh Trangia are a bit of an institution lol, I loved mine. I just didn't like its totally non-stick properties, even water stuck 🤣🤣

    I bought this kit and sent it back after using it one time. The tabs would be too easy to lose, the "windscreen" didn't block the wind (more than doubled the cook time with a spirit burner), and the locking tabs to hold the upper to the lower would be too easy to bend out of shape. Cheap junk kit to be fair. I'll stick with my Trangia. Also, Trangia also has a nonstick pan. It just depends on which kit number you buy

      @chado_outdoors hey thanks for taking the time to comment really appreciate it 👌 I totally agree with you about the pot holders, who ever decided to do that needs sacking !! I've not used it with the spirit burner so can't comment about that, but Andy Wardle has the spirit burner set and he seems to love it, I'm not saying it's perfect but I certainly wouldn't call it junk either 👍

    Great video as always Mick. Some lovely scenery too.
    I'm not so sure about the stove though, but that could just be my preference for a compact alcohol stove, and being too lazy to cook anything more than basic meals when I'm camping 🤣

    I agree about the trangia pots they are not for me I use the burner quite a bit and the mess tin for rice and noodles, but it's barely thicker than foil and a plast spork scratches it lol.

  • @alanbateson9275
    @alanbateson9275 Месяц назад +1

    Decent bit of kit Mick, but the "very lose-able pot stands" are not a patch on the Trangia model of hinged pot stands. I have a Trangia 27 set and use the Trangia Spirit burner rather than gas. Problem being, it's just a bit bulky for back packing, so i tend to take it on day hikes and stick to the X boil for my wild camps

    • @Mickoutdoors
      @Mickoutdoors  Месяц назад +1

      @alanbateson9275 couldn't agree more about the pot stands Alan, what possessed them to do them as loose fittings is beyond me, unless it would infringe on Trangia copyright 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ thanks for taking the time to comment really appreciate it 😀 👍

    Great video, good non stick pan and cooker. We have got the robens which is similar, still haven't tried it out yet, so don't know how the non stick is on it. Made me hungry I better go and cook our tea 😂

    I don't like those pot holders not being attached. If you were miles from home you would be in trouble and if you lose them in the future when there not making the stove there's a good chance of them not being available any more. It doesn't look easy to improvise something either 😕.

    I don't see the point of it. The Trangia cook set is specifically designed with an alcohol burner and has solid sides, to prevent wind from affecting the flame.
    The set in this video does not have solid sides and comes with a gas burner. I only use a gas burner for camping which requires a lot of trekking, whereas the Trangia is for a local camp when I have all the time in the world to enjoy cooking a decent meal and not something out of a packet.
    I don't get the impression many other campers lug cook sets into the hills and mountains either, so that set seems to be attempting to fix an issue that never existed. Is it better than a system that works well for its intended design? Not in my opinion.

    • @Mickoutdoors
      @Mickoutdoors  Месяц назад

      @peesua each to there own and you certainly have some very valid points, I don't see it as trying to fix a issue, rather than just offering a similar alternative, no reason why Trangia shouldn't have some competition, I've had trangia sets and loved them, but they are expensive and if your not careful or even careful the pans burn something chronic, even their non stick stick, but that's just my opinion 👍
