MJ won defensive player of the year in the same season as he won the scoring title, league MVP, all-star game MVP and slam dunk contest in 1988…leading the NBA in steals 3 different times is an example of how relentless he was back in the day…he’s also tied for first in NBA history with 9- 1st Team All Defense selections with Gary Payton, Kobe, and Kevin Garnett…in almost every year he played on the Bulls, MJ won the scoring title while making 1st team All-Defense…no other player has matched MJs level of success on both sides of the ball… he’s in a league of his own…✌️🐐👽

AND He was snubbed for all-defense team too when he had his 1st 200-steals 100-blocks season, he was not even on the 2nd team

I'm going to throw in a few more during that '88 season
      -Reg. season total points leader
      -Playoff PPG leader
-The most blocks ever in a season by any guard with 131.
      -Only player ever wit B2B
50PT gms in a playoff series.

@@stevenaleman7454his 1988 season was absolutely epic! Probably the best individual season in NBA History:
      MVP
      DPOY
      Scoring Title
      Steals Title
      1st-Team All Defense
      1st-Team All NBA
      Dunk Champion
      ASG MVP
      WS League Leader
      PER League Leader
      Playoff PPG Leader
*200 steals and 100 blocks in same season - no player had ever done it and he did it 2 years in a row. Only 2 players have done it since.
*first and only player to ever have back-to-back 50+ point Playoff games
*set the NBA record for blocks in a season for a guard with 132 - record still stands, and he has the #2 overall best season as well.
And he did all that in 1988 alone with 0 All Stars on his team, but most people don’t remember how unreal he was in the 80s because the Bulls roster was so weak and he didn’t start winning titles until the 90s.

I love how he keeps the ball in play most of the time when he blocks, and how quickly he gets back in transition on offence off of steals and blocks.

MJ was such an elite defender that opposing teams strategy was to keep the ball on the opposite side of wherever MJ was on the court!
MJ was literally like Deion Sanders on the Basketball court! Teams didn’t want to throw the ball on whatever side he was on!

Jordan had that "Eye of the Tiger" for all aspects of the game, and is easily one of the GOAT Defenders. Problem is his Scoring BLINDS people to his Defense!! I guarantee you if Jordan averaged 5ppg and he played the EXACT Same on Defense, his Defense would get ALOT more Praise!!! Examples are = Rodman, Mutombo, and B.Wallace that were All Time great Defenders that SUCKED on offense, so their Defense doesn't get overlooked.

Good point! When a player says to someone that they play all out and doesn’t play conservatively, we tend to ignore the comment, but with MJ, he literally demonstrated that comment every game he played, even at age 40, as he played in all 82 games while leading his team in points, assists, and steals…✌️🎤🔥👌
