Life is full of would-a, could-a, should-a's. Robert Frost even wrote a poem about it: "The Road Not Taken"
I love Foster and she’s a great actress. But I can’t imagine anyone doing it better than Carrie did.
Jodie Foster ❤🙏
Wow! I love hearing about the roles that actors DIDN'T get. It's always hard looking back but, I think they made the right choice. With the exception of the actor who played Obi Wan, everyone else was relatively unknown. If Jodie has gotten the role, it would have been another "star" and the aura around the movie would have been entirely different
Lucas auditioned every young actress in USA/Canada for the role, finally found one suitable, and she couldn’t do it.
You wouldn’t get such devotion to perfection from filmmakers today.
Jodie obviously had a bigger and more iconic career than Carrie fisher but imagine a career already as legendary as her's with additional inclusion of Star Wars in her filmography would had been insane. Also its kudos to her talent and stardom that at 13 she was already being offered major parts in blockbusters.
And now Disney owns Star Wars...
And Lucas owns a lot of Disney stock. About 4 billion dollars at todays stock price.
Would have been a huge casting mistake.
