    Hey Girl! I am a registered dietitian and for years we always thought coffee didn’t count towards daily fluid needs because the caffeine is a diuretic right? Well that has recently been updated! We “get” more water than we thought based on studies looking at fluid intake versus output (how much are we peeing lol) and we now count coffee and other caffeinated beverages as 1/2 their volume. So 8 oz of coffee counts as 4 oz water. Also, be careful not to OVER hydrate, yes that’s a thing! All that fluid can actually start to dilute your electrolytes like sodium in your blood stream and start messing with your blood pressure and heart. Luv ya! Keep the great content coming 😁

      Does this 50% "rule" also work for tea? I can't stand water alone but love tea.

      This has made my day 😅 sometimes I honestly don’t remember to drink water until late afternoon haha but I would’ve had my coffees and teas and juice etc during the day!

    • @ohyourthatgirl
      @ohyourthatgirl 4 года назад +7

      Marsha Foshee Herbal tea counts as 100% fluids because of the lack of caffeine. As for other teas, like black, green and white, they have less caffeine than coffee as a rule, so they count as a little more than 1/2. Just know the more caffeine the less it counts, but nothing ever doesn’t count at all. In the hospital we even count jello and popsicles and soups as fluids and in the summer, melon and other high water-content fruits provides a good punch of hydration too 😉

    • @ohyourthatgirl
      @ohyourthatgirl 4 года назад +6

      Marsha Foshee Also, if you don’t like plain water, try fruit infusions by adding fresh or frozen fruit or fruit and herb combos to water for a hint of flavor. Sometimes I will even just pop one of my favorite tea bags (looking at you peach tea!) to my water bottles to “cold brew” and add a little flavor

    Loved this video! Have to share: the Tody app for tracking chores is amazing! It is super simple and helpful. For example, you can set a chore like "Wash sheets" to be done every week or two, then it's one click to mark it as Done once you wash them. It keeps a history of when you mark off each chore and how long it's been since you've done it.

    Meal planning every week is a must in our house. We don't eat out and I cook dinner every night so meal planning for the week on Sunday before I go grocery shopping is a must. Also I purchased a blank recipe book to add all of our family recipes that were a hit with my 3 kids. That way when they are older they will have a collection of our family recipes. I wish my mom had done that when we were kids!

    I have a "plan the week" reminder on my phone set for Sunday afternoon. And then I sit down with my work calendar and my google calendar (which is my version of a planner) and put in everything. Days we have meals planned, workouts, time for projects, time for extended self care. Its a huge relief to have the week planned on Sunday afternoon. And I usually do it between returning from the grocery store and starting a couple of larger meal prep items.

    Jess, for travel, creating separate reusable packing lists in AnyList. One for each member of the family, one for toiletries, one for if it’s a beach trip, one for if it’s camping. For meal planning, recipes and calendar, Cozi. I’ve used the calendar for years and just found the meal planning part on the web version. I plan the same, 4-5 meals that I drag from my favorite recipes onto the calendar. Simple, and I can shift them around as needed when we have leftovers to finish up.

    Hi! Love the prep meals tip. You really should change/wash your sheets and pillowcases every week. They accumulate so many dead skin, sweat, dust, etc and are the biggest source for allergies. Just pick a day in the week and change them. That and cleaning under the bed. Here in Portugal is something so cultural/tradicional that i don't even think how people don't do it. There's a day where you clean the whole house and you always start by changing the sheets 😄. Love you channel and all you makeup tips

    I have an app recommendation that combines grocery lists with meal planning and recipe storage - Paprika 3. I NEVER buy apps, but after my friend showed me this app in person (she has twins and needs efficiency at all times), I knew it would be worth it and it is! I’ve had it for a couple of years now (after I turned 30 ha!) and I use it literally every single day. You can add recipes by manually typing them in, or by browser link (I copy and paste from Pinterest all of the time), and it auto saves everything in the recipe! Ingredients, photos, instructions, etc and you can edit it at any time - I’ll add notes with how I’ve adapted recipes. You can also tag recipes so you can search by ingredients or what type of recipe it is like entree or dessert, etc... you create the tags. I can meal plan my week (or you could go by month) by either adding a quick note to a calendar inside the app or by linking to a saved recipe you have already added to the app. Then I can add items with quantities FROM the recipe to a grocery list inside the app and it categories everything by aisle like that one you mentioned. It’s 😙👌 meal planning perfection! 💖 I seriously recommend this to everyone because it’s so easy to use regularly once you start adding your recipes to it. I always have the app open on my phone with my recipe ingredients and I can follow along with the instructions and check off what I’m doing as I go and set timers from there too. It’s changed everything in our meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking routines. Totally not sponsored, just LOVE this app! 👩🏻‍🍳

    Hi Jessica! I’m a young single person and I love all these tips and it made me feel good to know I do some of these on my own.
    I would love to see more videos about how you and your family handle your finances and day to day life hacks, if you will. Thanks for doing what you do!

    I felt you when you said you never felt you could use a planner the way you wanted to. I hate pre-done planners. But I’ve enjoyed using elements of the bullet journal to create my own spreads and lists and notes. My favorite thing is fun a lined notebook, number each page, and create a TOC. Then use each page however I want but it’s all in one place.

    As someone with dust allergies I wash my sheets once a week but my top tip (being a 40+ yr old!) is to get rid of all the extra pillows, cushions and blankets on the bed and just put on the ones you actually use. When you get up in the morning turn down the duvet to let the bed air out and breathe. This cools it and gets rid of overnight moisture, which is where dust mites thrive! I leave mine turned down all day then it’s nice a cool when I get in at night.

    I have Lupus and I also have had skin cancer and the Nuetrogena sunscreen is the only one I use. It doesn’t burn the rash associated with lupus and works great. You’re so right skin cancer can effect anyone. I was 30 when I got it. Love the videos btw. Thanks for all the tips.

    I’m so so excited about your fragrance.com sponsorship. I’ve been wanting to buy a specific new fragrance I tested at ulta that I love (the coach floral blush perfume is so nice). But it’s been difficult to want to fork up the money for it. This website along with your 30% off code made it sooooo much cheaper. I’m so excited to get it in the mail. Thanks Jessica!! I’ve been watching you and subscribed for years and it’s nice to support you in this way as well. ❤️

    Love these! Especially the spf ! Coming from a derm nurse: Just be careful with the spray as you really need to make sure you are putting enough on and then rubbing it in, it’s really easy to miss areas and not put enough. And yes hold your breath not the best for kids I use it for reapplication but most ppl don’t get enough on with the spray!
    I also read once that NOT making your bed allowed the sweat and bacteria from the night air out and not proliferate as much in your sheets 🤷🏻‍♀️ but idk how much that matters

    I had to watch the beginning twice because I didn’t hear anything wrong with your intro the first time 😂 I downloaded every app you mentioned, wiped my whiteboard for the meal planning and realized that my planning system is missing a little something so I’ll incorporate a daily plan! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for putting up this video!!! I watched it twice, it was THAT good!!!💖

    Take a look at Plum Paper planners. They have lots of different layouts (daily, weekly, etc) and they are totally customizable. You even get to pick your own cover from dozens of designs and customize it as well. I started using one last year and will be getting my second one soon. You can even pick what month you want it to start. They cost more than something you would get at Target but the fact that you can customize it to fit what you like makes up for that (and they cost less than Erin Condren planners). I recommend them to everyone. I even have both of my daughters hooked on the.m.

    Another cool thing about running your dishwasher at night is that (at least in our city) the water is actually cheaper later at night! So we’ll just get it started around 11pm or midnight and not only is it saving money, but the dishes are ready to slog every morning!

    love a smart grocery list! I use Our Groceries. So happy that at 36 I am already doing lots of these! one thing I'm adding is a page a day planner, this year I had a weekly one and kept running out of space! perfect time to change planners too as the academic ones are July-July. Thanks!

    Regarding the dishwasher, a lot of municipalities will charge for electricity based on time of day. Middle of the night tends to be the cheapest. So what I’ve been doing is setting my dishwasher to run after midnight (check your settings, many allow you to delay running for up to 12 hours). I load the dishes after dinner and set the delay, watch some tv, the go to bed. I don’t have to worry about a noisy dishwasher while I’m relaxing and my dishes are clean in the AM. I’m someone who grew up without a dishwasher and I LOVE having one! 🤣

    Completely agree with using a financing app or just working to get finances in order. I have been using mint for 6 months now and even though i didn’t need to use the budgeting app, it is nice to know exactly how much i was spending and now even if i would go over 20$, i just don’t make that purchase.

    I found that if I wash and cut my fruit/salad stuff I’m more likely to eat it. Even though those things take no time at all for some reason I never want to do it so I just do it all at once and put it in Tupperware and I eat it when I feel snacky . Such a weird thing but it works! Also I’ve been trying that idea of writing down dinners but not assigning a day and it is so much less stress! I tried it when you mentioned it in a vlog. Changed my life

    I love the Neutrogena zinc sunscreen with spf 50! It’s not greasy, doesn’t make me break out, and it’s been helping with my melasma! I wear sunscreen everyday, even if I’m inside, and you’re right! If you find a good sunscreen, the stores are almost always out of stock! Thanks for the other suggestions!!! I’ll try to pick one of those out sometime! :)

      As a kid I had a neighbor friend whose parents made her change her sheets once a week. She also had to plan, shop for, and cook a meal for the family one night per week. We were 11!! At the time, I thought her parents were crazy strict & authoritarian. But now that I’m 40 and can’t cook, and sometimes change my sheets after a whole month(!) I think they really had it right. She is a really well adjusted adult now. Successful career & mother of two kids.
      I’m ... not so well adjusted.
