Does it really take courage to be creative anymore? Because, I see creativity prized as the first and foremost virtue in the art world, today. What would really take courage today would be to insist on universal standards of quality in spite of the artist's feelings and thoughts.

Elementary school children have no idea about the virtues of the art world. It absolutely takes courage to be creative as a kid, which is what the Ted Talk is about. Also, universal standards of quality are so subjective and limiting. We shouldn’t subject artists to that.
