Even better. Give us the opportunity to play everything again starting in vanilla Destiny. They could give you the option to only have the most current content downloaded or have destinations and missions from whatever period you chose from.
Mission selector for red war campaign, Osiris and Warmind and Forsaken. Just the missions so we can replay and get some old rewards or armors that we missed.
Destiny's lore? AMAZING! Destiny's in game story, absolutely dreadful. Why they have always been so inept at properly placing story into the game I'll never know.
@sanity I came back for The Witch Queen, didn't feel like the delivery of the lore to the player via the in-game story has gotten any better. And it's objectively abysmal for new players. Even if I agreed with you, one year finally after seven years of garbage is not anything to aspire to. They are even aware of what a meme their poor scripts and stories are and put that in game with No Time to Explain.

Also you are not aware of any of my playing habits, where I was before stopping playing daily and coming back for The Witch Queen.
Ok so what I'm understanding is that a big golf ball in the sky gave us space magic and then big brolic black geometric shapes came out and tried to blow it up, so the big golf ball exploded and gave birth to a bunch of other smaller geometric shapes, which brought people back from the dead, where they were given more space magic, but then a bunch of schizophrenic pirates, rhinos, and offbrand covenant wanted a bunch of stuff from us so we fought them, but also fought each other, but then we didn't and we made a big city and there was peace except there wasn't and now megamind and his army are coming to stomp us into the ground. 10/10
Im really happy for the new players that they're getting this. Im trying to get a friend into Destiny and its really hard for them because they have no idea what is the world, and what is their place in it hopefully this might hint at a new-player-experience rework.
God yes please. The new player experience really needs to be the free to play story line. Give them a few story lines to follow until it works into the main story. They could expanded on the Navotta storyline as the main free to pay quest line.

Not sure about sending a player into the Red War campaign like that. Granted, yes, a new player needs things to do to get their power up and a campaign will help with that but its context would need to be altered slightly. I liked it when the Red War campaign, and the year 1 campaigns, were stories being told by Amanda Holliday.

i really hope this game never ends. it pulled me out of a really dark time in my life. i have made tons for friends. i may take breaks but i always come back to destiny. this has been my life game, not just my main game. thank you guys for everything you have done and for listening to the community. you have made an absolute master piece.
I like the use of the different leitmotifs as the scene changes. Especially the part from 3:09 with the guardian's theme, which then shifts to a slight hint of Athanasia when the exo's were shown, then the forsaken/dreaming city motif when they showed the awoken. And when each of the guardian classes were introduced (titan, warlock, hunter) Inner Light was played. We've heard these motifs grown over the years, and they've never sounded better
The attention to detail in the soundtrack for this video is immense, I loved hearing slight bits of motifs/themes when each enemy and player race came on (especially the Athanasia synth when the exos were up) Would kill for a release of this mashup without question
I'd say let it play when you talk to someone. Dumping exposition like this on people right out of the gate isn't exactly a warm welcome. Having this cutscene be essentially a character telling you the story would be a more organic way to do it, though who they'd get to actually do it I couldn't say (if only Ikora were narrating).
@@nomad-8260 It should only play out and be unskiplable for new players with their first guardian created so they can have a grasp of what the game is about. Then when creating their second and third character it should be skippable.
Hopefully the fact they they’re working on the engine and not vaulting content anymore means a simplified version of the red war campaign can come back for new lights. That would be incredible. Start in the cosmodrome and then to the red war, all the way up to light fall. That would truly be a masterpiece of modern gaming.

Maybe cinematics that introduce the new characters or happenings whenever they show up to new (or any) players?

The Traveler's leitmotif from 0:31 to 0:50 gets me every time. Such a gorgeous bit of music and one of Destiny's finest. I hope Bungie'll use that leitmotif in The Final Shape as a nice callback to the beginning of Destiny 1. It always manages to tug at my heartstrings.

Apart from the opening cutscene of Vanilla D1, I can’t say that I remember ever seeing another cutscene showing us the pre-Golden Age and the Golden Age itself. It’s nice to _finally_ see more of that, even if it is just a snippet.
I think @4:40 would’ve been a great face for the Witness. Like give it the normal facial features but where’s its eyes are just make an endless black that reflects no light. As though it swallows any that comes into contact with it. Would’ve been awesome if that was its design and the first time we see any sign of its eyes were in the opening to Lightfall when it’s blasted by the Travelers Light.

I watched the presentation earlier today but missed this bit. Not going to lie. This made me tear up a little bit... I've been playing since the D1 alpha. I've attempted every single raid day one except for the original VoG and Crota. I have 6 day one clears including a few top 100 placements. I'm incredibly fortunate and honored to play with such amazingly skilled players. I love this game! Unfortunately I'm in the hospital right now with a serious infection. I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate for day one King's Fall this Friday. I'll be absolutely devastated. Day one raids are why I play this game. I live for them. I seriously hope I recover soon enough. Anyway, Bungie should put this in the game for new players.
I think the Witnesswould be far more terrifying if where it’s eyes are they were instead just pits of pure black. No light reflected from it just infinite blackness

not gonna lie, this game never fails to inspire me to be part of something bigger than myself. if ever the Traveler arrives in this solar system... i shall hope to stand beside my fellow Guardians to protect the whole of Humanity
I can't lie I'm just getting back into Destiny after a 2 year hiatus but I will always love the story Bungie created. I put well over 3,000 hours into D1 but D2 just didn't hit the same way at its initial release for me. I'm glad to be back playing and can't wait to see how they end this part of the story
I’m really glad they’re showing the witness as this unstoppable force that’ll inevitably make contact to our reality as guardians and humanity. Each time bungie mentions or shows him/she (idk the correct pronouns) it’s always founded on a base of dread and pure doom. Especially with this cinematic and how they portrayed The Witness with no eyes makes him look demonic asf. very excited for lightfall, looking forward to what the raid has in store, and the future is looking a lil brighter for this game. after many years of turmoil destiny is finally turning anew leaf, good job Bungo
Since we don't know what the Witness is because it seems to be a multitude of people across realities, the grammatically correct term is "they/them" (For non English speakers like myself, it takes time to make sense of using "they/them" like this)
I hope this is apart of the New Light 2.0 which Bungie is planning to work on to fix New Light experience so new players can actually get into it but anyway nice recap.
Every time I get bored of destiny and go on a hiatus Bungie pulls out the lore like a flaming pistol and shoots me right in the feels. Been playing since I was 14 years old and sheer power of that nostalgia is enough to cover my whole body in goose bumps. Even with Halo I've never felt so immersed and invested in a fictional world (except for maybe LotR but the Peter Jackson films are just works of art, they aren't something I can participate in). You know something is made with care, love, and quality when the emotion you feel toward it is enough to bring you to the edge of tears. It's not sadness, it's not even just nostalgia. It's a level of excitement that my body doesn't know how to handle simply because I know what is going to come out of the other end is going to be a unique and genuinely surprising experience peering into another world.
Just try to say that about any other form of media that, at it's core, focuses solely on guns and shooting at aliens. Destiny laughs in the face of Call of Duty like a king at his jester. But even a court jester knows his place and the law of the land. In that equation Destiny is more like their God.
The original music from D1 still gives me chills. Love this game. Been playing from the beginning through the good and bad times till now. Not stopping anytime soon. 😃
This should definitely be the start of the new light campaign I showed a friend that recently joined and it allowed him to make sense of what was going on
Man this really reflects the past for all of us who originally played destiny 1. Its also fantastic for the new players, get them into the picture and get them caught up on whats going on. Also its very inspiring, albeit the destiny community has its fair share of toxic players, this does give inspiration to many to help others. Just hope this is enough to unite the community to be more supportive of its new players and those who haven't managed to complete many raids.
this extremely well made kind of thing, reminding of old mthologies and histories, together with the knowledger of being a defender against something this absurd was what brought me into destiny and being a titan, i needed to see this a lot, thanks bungo
This would work very well as an introduction video for players. An opt-out (skippable) cinematic presentation before the character screen. I believe it would be immensely helpful and would make new players feel less confused during their first Destiny experience.

As much as veterans can let this game frustrate them. Their frustration is born out of love. This game is truly loved. Such an amazing experience.
This NEEDS to be in the game. Maybe right after the opening cutscene with the astronauts landing on mars for new players.

I watched the presentation earlier today but missed this bit.
Not going to lie. This made me tear up a little bit... I've been playing since the D1 alpha. I've attempted every single raid day one except for the original VoG and Crota. I have 6 day one clears including a few top 100 placements. I'm incredibly fortunate and honored to play with such amazingly skilled players. I love this game!
Unfortunately I'm in the hospital right now with a serious infection. I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate for day one King's Fall this Friday. I'll be absolutely devastated. Day one raids are why I play this game. I live for them. I seriously hope I recover soon enough.
Anyway, Bungie should put this in the game for new players.
I think the Witnesswould be far more terrifying if where it’s eyes are they were instead just pits of pure black. No light reflected from it just infinite blackness

I can't lie I'm just getting back into Destiny after a 2 year hiatus but I will always love the story Bungie created. I put well over 3,000 hours into D1 but D2 just didn't hit the same way at its initial release for me. I'm glad to be back playing and can't wait to see how they end this part of the story

I’m really glad they’re showing the witness as this unstoppable force that’ll inevitably make contact to our reality as guardians and humanity. Each time bungie mentions or shows him/she (idk the correct pronouns) it’s always founded on a base of dread and pure doom. Especially with this cinematic and how they portrayed The Witness with no eyes makes him look demonic asf. very excited for lightfall, looking forward to what the raid has in store, and the future is looking a lil brighter for this game. after many years of turmoil destiny is finally turning anew leaf, good job Bungo
Since we don't know what the Witness is because it seems to be a multitude of people across realities, the grammatically correct term is "they/them" (For non English speakers like myself, it takes time to make sense of using "they/them" like this)
this is literally what we've been asking for years ever since the new war was vaulted, this should be put into the game ASAP

I hope this is apart of the New Light 2.0 which Bungie is planning to work on to fix New Light experience so new players can actually get into it but anyway nice recap.
Every time I get bored of destiny and go on a hiatus Bungie pulls out the lore like a flaming pistol and shoots me right in the feels. Been playing since I was 14 years old and sheer power of that nostalgia is enough to cover my whole body in goose bumps. Even with Halo I've never felt so immersed and invested in a fictional world (except for maybe LotR but the Peter Jackson films are just works of art, they aren't something I can participate in).
You know something is made with care, love, and quality when the emotion you feel toward it is enough to bring you to the edge of tears. It's not sadness, it's not even just nostalgia. It's a level of excitement that my body doesn't know how to handle simply because I know what is going to come out of the other end is going to be a unique and genuinely surprising experience peering into another world.
Just try to say that about any other form of media that, at it's core, focuses solely on guns and shooting at aliens. Destiny laughs in the face of Call of Duty like a king at his jester. But even a court jester knows his place and the law of the land. In that equation Destiny is more like their God.

Been playing this game for years and I just now literally finally understand the overall arcing story that’s been unfolding.

This should definitely be the start of the new light campaign I showed a friend that recently joined and it allowed him to make sense of what was going on
Man this really reflects the past for all of us who originally played destiny 1.
Its also fantastic for the new players, get them into the picture and get them caught up on whats going on.
Also its very inspiring, albeit the destiny community has its fair share of toxic players, this does give inspiration to many to help others.
Just hope this is enough to unite the community to be more supportive of its new players and those who haven't managed to complete many raids.

This would work very well as an introduction video for players. An opt-out (skippable) cinematic presentation before the character screen.
I believe it would be immensely helpful and would make new players feel less confused during their first Destiny experience.
