As a 4.7 k/d player on PC, the best tip, the most essencial tip is to learn from death. If you get wrecked over and over again, watch the Theater mode of that player. I used to watch hours upon hours of players that throughoutly beat the hell out of me, and in the end, after much practise I became a hell of a lot better than them. Don't give up and keep improving folks :)

Bro what whenever I watch the enemies play they immediately lock on & snap to me or my teammates & sometimes they completely miss & somehow still get a headshot5 times in a row with an SMG & no recoil control

    My three top:
    1) Pre-aim. Aim where you think they're going to come from. In a shooter like Counter-strike, aim for the head (no view kick), in COD, aim for the body (view kick).
    2) Don't wide peek. When looking around a wall, peek just enough to see one enemy at best. If you peek out too far, you can easily have multiple people shooting at you at once -- something you don't want.
    3) Use your minimap. Even if you don't see the enemy on your minimap, you know where your teammates are and where the enemy is most likely to be.
    Bonus:
    4) Relax your eyes. Don't focus on specific bits of the screen, just focus on infinity, focus _through_ the screen. Work hard so that your eyes do not move unless you see a target, then focus on it. This prevents saccadic masking (chronostasis) and provides more peripheral information. This takes a lot of practice. Once you get it, down,it will actually feel like time has slowed down for you.

If you're going to do that though, remember to _blink_ when you can. And use eye drops, because that headache you have after is actually dry eyes.

Here's my 3 tips and my K/D is over 1.5 in every FPS shooter game:
1.) If you are really bad at first: Play defensive. This means, don't run to the enemy, wait for him to come if you know he's near.
2.) If you know you can't kill the enemy because your weapon's range is too short, you are low on ammo or the enemy is just running too fast into a building, DON'T SHOOT. Run after him carefully and kill him from a safe distance.
    3. If there are too much enemies in front of you / in the near, and you know they are coming, DON'T RUSH THEM! Wait for them to come and camp in a headglitch spot.
Bonus: Always check your minimap; if you can't see any friendlies on a certain part of the minimap, the enemies will most likely be there.

The tips I normally give are:
    1. Don't care about your first 50 or so games. You'll do badly in them no matter what, so just take that time to figure out what you're preferred style is. If you want more action, try pushing a bit harder, if you're dying too much, try being a bit more defensive. Just try stuff out.
    2. Do *not* use mouse acceleration. Even if you're used to it, try getting used to having it turned off, it'll refine your muscle memory and improve your aim in the long run.
    3. Set your sensitivity so that one comfortable movement will turn you 180°. In a first person shooter, the action will always be in front of you. If someone sneaks up behind you, there's a low chance you'll turn around and kill them before they kill you, so there's no need to be able to turn any more than 180°. If your sensitivity allows you to rotate 360° then you're accuracy will be horrific, but if it's quite low then you'll have to push the mouse all over the table to change your aim or to turn around.

#3 was the one I saw all the time in Day of Defeat. On a particular map, my task was to hold a certain alley that allowed the enemy to get through to the main square by a back way. I'd kill the first guys that tried to rush in, then hide behind some boxes. They'd come back, spray the alley and try to pass... and I'd step out and shoot them in the back. So next time they'd come back, check behind the boxes, not find me and move on... and I'd drop down from the top of the boxes and shoot them in the back. They'd come back, toss a grenade into the alley, then rush in... through the door that I was waiting behind. They'd come back, shoot through the door (while I hid behind a corner in the hallway) and then rush in and get shot again.
Each time, I only moved back a little - but barring a lucky shot or a mistake on my part, they never got past me. It was like Horatius at the bridge. And they _knew_ I was going to be there... they _expected_ me to be there... and all it would have taken was one guy to decide not to try the alley, get into the square and get me from behind.

The main tip I can think of is play with your friends and communicate. Ruin a bunch of other people's days in public matches.
This improves you skills immensely and is something that is admittedly the biggest problem with allowing 6-man parties in public lobbies.
You need a team of randoms, who has no vocal communication and chemistry to surpass the chemistry and call outs of the 6 man team... which obviously work decent together or adapt to play off each other's skills.
Not to mention this will improve acting off your allies and supporting their actions while playing, hopefully for the win and not kill whoring too much. Of course this also encourages having less classes for adapting to things...
Which is why it seems like solo players run more counter classes and could handle IEDs till the patch came out...
Something that happened less with team players from what I've noticed. Even try it yourself... they'll piss and moan about anything you use, insult you, call you out as being cheap or unfair. Rarely do they adapt their classes for these scenarios or have a counter class...
They had every class they wanted on a *single* squad member for every map.
    Oops.
Probably wanted something a bit more then a 2D class set up countered by one thing.

    On point 1:
The gun models (especially in shooters made for console, as it reduces the amount of pixels having to be rendered in each frame) takes up a significant part of the screen and sometimes it can block your view.
I play on PC with my mouse software set very sensitive and my ingame sensitivity setting very low. Which in ADS effectively works like have a stock equipped without actually having one, but also very high general sensitivity, so I can drop my gun a bit to just be able to see more of the stuff ahead of me. Not as far down as you in the video, but just a bit. So when I engage, I would be shooting a their feet at the lowest and usually center mass (which is really the best place to aim if in CQC), and then with a bit of practise you can spray up the body and control it onto the head. Just the fact that your first rounds hit them slightly interrupts their controls, which also gives you an advantage there, where as aiming for the head and the first shot misses over the target it leaves you vulnerable. But in general aiming as low as is still meaningful gives you most visibility, which can make a difference if the engagement can come at different ranges. But staring into the ground (such as in the video) naturally is not a good idea.
    On point 2:
Far from all games have ADS, but I a game such as CS you still have point about crouching or not moving a lot, as this makes your accuracy greater. I do not think ADS is a norm in shooters in general except for CoD clones (pretty much every shooter on consoles).

  • @FabianR87321

A few small tips that can help
    1. When moving on turns and open areas remember to look both ways, this has helped me a lot with both campers and the more sneaky players
    2. When strafing and shooting, sometimes it's better to snap on and off ADS to target them better. This has saved me from time to time and can be better then trying to shoot someone on the move with ADS on and shooting
    3. Don't be afraid of running away from a gunfight that you know you can't win. No need to die needlessly, instead try to lure and ambush them. Your chances of killing them increases when you do this
    4. Most important one of them all, learn from your defeat. Whether it's different pathways, different guns or different play styles, remember to learn from them and use what you have learned against other.
Hope this helps you out :)

Another huge tip is learning when its appropriate to chase or wait after damaging an enemy player or getting shot. To train my self from looking down in games I make a little sticky note circle with a hole punch, ADS with a red dot sight, and placed the dot. I was amazed at how far from the middle of the screen I was when moving. A couple of games and I had convinced myself to aim higher, and have done better. I used the dot one day, but it did help. Now, in Destiny, I use a hand cannon and go for head shots more of the time. I am running with about 75 percent of my kills being "precision".

When it comes to the second one (pre-aim whenever possible) it's very important to add that you should do it only when you know where you can expect enemy and there's only one potentially dangerous direction. Never do it while entering rooms with unknow hostile location. It's a basic rule of CQB - room clearing requires peripheral vision not centered (on gun sights) one.

  • @Nattoreius
    @Nattoreius 10 лет назад +16

Drift0r..I'm sorry but I cant take you seriously when you
    1. Push back laundry when your team already has spawns instead of getting cutoffs.
    2. Die that much off rotation.
    3. Throw a semtex directly at a trophy you're staring at.
    4. Instead of getting pool cuts in kitchen hill, youre staring laundry holding anchor with a sub.
    5. Challenge money with a sub when your team lost all spawns, which, by the way, is because you were holding back anchor instead of helping with hill.
    6. playing on that absurdly high of a sensitivity, in turn, you have a very below average shot.
    7. And that ADS tip is acceptable but not to the extent you were showing it. You're making it into something way too situational.
    8. Are not using long barrel on a respawn SMG with that terrible of a shot you have=not winning any gunfights against people who have thumbs.
    9. Lose a gunfight to an AR on BBall headglitch
    10. Finally, That last tip you gave is terrible. You should be looking at your radar regardless and should know what it means where you spawn if youre a good player, such as, if you're spawntrapped, spawn out on CTF meaning they're on your flag, ETC. It's instinct...
    Stick to stat videos please.

I have been playing counterstrike for 10 years now and I can honestly say that if I only played COD or Battle Field my aim would be at least 40% worse. Try out counterstrike guys, no other game rewards you so much for being the better player. If you die its because you made a mistake, and once you assess what that mistake was and learn from it you will be a better player.

The reason I don't pre-aim is because every time I do, the enemy ends up wherever I'm not aiming at...It also puts you at a disadvantage because you're moving slower, so if an enemy is camping in a room and you're trying to pre-aim your way into it, you're more than likely going to get killed because you're moving slow enough for them to see you before you can shoot at them

    Learn the mini-map..
    1. Practice with radar always on with bots and practice looking at the map in between every kill. If you don't look at the map you have to start the match over- try to play a 5-10 FFA without forgetting at all.
    2. Know where your team is on the map and which way they are going/looking at all times/notice when they die.
    Use your ears..
Hearing enemy gun fire tells you where they are, what type of gun they are using, and when they are probably going to reload. Every one of these is vital information.
    Play the opponent..
If they are playing overly aggressive, strap on some Claymores/BB's/Shock Charges etc.
If they are playing overly conservative (head glitching w/an AR/LMG) use smokes to block lines of sight.

I mean, in CoD4 strong-running, which nearly halves your character's hitbox, is a very commonly used strategy by good players, and that involves looking straight down at the ground.

That is a different kind of thing. You did that to avoid being shot. But you probably didn't strong run 100% of the time because then it would be hard to aim.

The 1st and 2nd point are symptoms of the same problem. Ultimately the player is not as ready to shoot the enemy as they should be. Keeping the gun up, pre-aiming and anticipating enemy movement are all ways to be as ready as possible. As a replacement for one of these points I would suggest tips on the effective use of cover and ways to move around a map that will help you to not get killed at.

  • @kf160k160

Just to add tip #4. Always check the radar/map. Empty region is a potential dangerous zone so lookout. You can use the radar to predict the enemy spawning area too.

  • @Jamie95C
    @Jamie95C 10 лет назад

Another tip, dont wait with shooting after your sigths are up in close to medium encounters, if you are using ARs/SMGs. I have sometimes killed the enemy before my sights were up by spraying them down. Even getting one bullet to hit gives you the slight adventage which you need to win a gunfight.

When I first started playing FPS games, that was MW2 mainly, I made all those mistakes. I was a total noob. I think of myself then and now and I've came a long way. Preaiming is a major skill, especially if you avoid perks like QuickDraw in most cods you need to do this.

Jhub gave an amazing tip imo.
    Why?
Because in past call of duties (and somewhat in the new ones) people would spawn camp. Basically, you spawn walk 3 steps and die. Many people hated this and didn't know how to deal with it. However, when you knew how spawn camping worked you could easily counter it.
Using Jhub's tip of not rushing forward when you spawn, and Drift0r's tip of pre ads you can actually counter a spawn camp provided you have better aim than the other player.

My tips: Don't run around corners.Learn the maps and the way it flows. Pick your gunfights, control the engagement to make it hard for people to hit you. Pick a gun that's comfortable for you and play in a manner that you can use your gun in it's most effective way. A lot of people still don't do this but if there's a mini map, learn how to use it to predict spawns and coordinate that with the killfeed. Not too many people actually do this but I look at the killfeed and the mini map to see which types of enemies are in the different areas of the map to prepare myself for that gunfight. Don't take shots for kills you can't hit, if you miss, you're likely to give your spot away and get yourself killed. Last but certainly not least, play the damn objective effectively, don't be one of those people who never jump on flags but at the same time, don't jump on without any care, kill people off and find a cap spot(if applicable) to be safe and prepare for enemies who want to take you off. I should really make a video at this rate.

  • @TylerAndToast

Good tips. I'd say one of the most important tips ever is to stay in control. Map control specifically. Put yourself in advantageous positions, create the most unfair fight by coming from behind, cut off high traffic areas, make the enemy spawn where you want them, and make them respond to you so you can play the game the way you want and be a step ahead! My most recent video shows off gameplay from four different FPS. Control is what I focus on most in all FPS I play.

#2 only works in ideal situations or when you know that they will come in your line of sight without them going any other movement. Let's say you are rushing into Kitchen from the back on Hardpoint on this map. If you pre-aim and an enemy jumps out of the corner you will have no time to react and shoot him (because usually good players have low sensitivities so you won't be able to move your gun side-to-side fast if you are aimed in) Instead you keep your gun up so that if you can react to a player jumping out from a door/corner. My point can be further explained in Crimsix's video "Six Tips With Crimsix" around 4:45 in the video he explains why. Yes pre-aiming is a good tactic, but sometimes when you are playing against good players it won't work as well as you think. The Link to Crimsix's video will be above this.

  • @graysquaredd

Holding a power position =/= camping.
It's good strategy, there should not be pre-determined rules of play.
(This is coming from a tactical rusher)
Personally, I think it makes everything infinitely more interesting when you have to be on your toes and stay alert, so even hardcore camping doesn't bother me, but it is understandable to see it be frustrating.
Anyways, fantastic video, Driftor! You're the man, man!

If I have any single tip that helps me during FPS matches, is to learn the map and the spawning areas. Then when you're gunning down foes, you can "count steps" or the amount of time it takes for you to reach the enemy again on the map, then you can judge the amount of time you have and position yourself to improve your chances of survival.

Black Ops 2 made the fight against campers much nicer for the run-n-gunner.

I have an issue with #2, if you walk around the corner ads and the enemy walks around where you are not aiming it is very hard to turn while ads right on him, so the best tip #2 would be line up your cross hairs around corners or doors where people are going to come out

Grahm Craquers If you want to go for the revenge kill first way up the situation. If it is a team or someone who is just completly posted up like crazy ignore them and they will get less kills. In this video the best thing to do for the revenge kill would have been to go through the window and strafe down the stairs. JHub was sat in the opposite corner so would have been easy to kill while you have higher ground and cover.

I think one of the best things to do is avoid the middle of the map. I go quite well just running laps around the outside of the map, moving in when I get behind the enemies then going back out after mopping them up. Hardpoint is probably the only gametype where this doesn't work very well.
