"understand the concept, don't get lost in the details" I need this as a sign for everytime a training session gets bogged down in a discussion about certain words in passages... I mean it's cool that we got some people in our club, that can actually read and decipher the original texts, but sometimes I just want to start doing drills and not go over a single sentence a thousand times.
... incredible demonstration. These videos are wonderful. They really underscore the beauty in understanding the value of temperance, rhythm and peace in the development of controlled-violence. I'm sure the greatest masters of the sword throughout history would approve...
Top work as usual. I really agree with the sentiment of not getting distracted by fine details; so long as your posture is stable and you remain defended, it's probably fine.
I feel like the fine details only really start to matter once you can consistently perform the technique in sparring. You can start to really drill down and optimize the small things only if you’re sure the big things work.
Great bladework as always 🙂 The bind is the starting point of so many hits even if they are fast minor cuts, I'm usually tempted to close for a grapple instead of disengaging at long point though, it's probably the mixture of Japanese Jujutsu and Italian HEMA

Grabbling is also possible...Meyer have a lot of it in his system :)
I have just stumbled across your channel, absolutely brilliant! I was wondering if you have or will do any sword and buckler/shield stuff? Many thanks for sharing your hard work.
Have you considered a variation, whereby you'd skip the first right hew and instead deliver the lower cut to the face/shoulder with much more speed and power?

I just go through the book with this format. Personally i agree, it is a possible option what you describe...lower cuts could really fast delivered from the upper guard with good protection also!

I love these videos, the reversals, the slow and fast... very well constructed instructions.

get closer to opponent
Not in this play :)
Why would he do that ?
@@timhema5343 exactly, this play shows us how to go on with hews, there is no grabbling involved...thus we get our a** out ;)
