- I have been asked hundreds of times which projects are the best for building a resume, so in this video I decided to finally answer the question by explaining the five best projects for building a resume and landing a job. I even used three of the five projects on this list to land my first job and I was told countless times that the reason I received job offers and interviews at many companies was because of the projects on my resume. The best part is any of these projects can be built in a single week so you can start applying and landing jobs sooner.
🧠 Concepts Covered:
- What companies are looking for in resumes
- Which projects are the best for getting hired
- What skills you need to get hired
- How to build projects that will get you hired

Mah dawg! Thank you! However, I totally still watched the whole video ;)
Thank you my friend
Thanks for the summary..
Dude I have exactly everything you listed
But I keep getting rejected cuz I don’t have professional experience for entry level job
You save my times
As a dev who’s done a lot of interviewing people now, these are great ideas. Make sure you make them easy to see and find on your resume and website.
sir please give some more tips
@Code For Yah meaning?
Are you on LinkedIn?
A lot of people do these projects and I feel like interviewers are tired of seeing them, is it still viable in 2023?
Are these still good in 2023?
Suggestion for site number 2: Create a brochure site for an existing business in your area that is not online. Show it to them and ask if they are interested in buying the product. Get Results.
great idea, no one will reject that.
@@TheXuism It's not about the amount of rejections, it's about the few that say yes.
Damn this is a good idea
I'm pretty good with php.
Where would you recommend for me to start as fsr as learning how to build an e-commerce site?

What the f is an API
@@christopherfiorentino6552 using data from different websites, like putting google maps on your page. Easy stuff, RUclips-it
@@christopherfiorentino6552 Have you ever seen those RUclips videos embedded into the website, they're using an Api to do it. Or have you ever seen an option saying "sign up with Facebook" or "sign up with Google" on any website. They're using an api too.
API can be considered as a vehicle through which data can travel across our application architecture. APIs can be used to communicate with external applications also. GoogleMaps API, RUclips API, etc. are some of the common examples of such APIs.
You got me with this. Subscribed immediately, thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for making this video! Straight to the point 😍
Really worth my time ❤
These are great suggestions and I appreciate you making this video! Working on some final projects with my bootcamp and curving it towards one of these types!
I am definitely making the projects you told about.
Thanks for explaining the thinking behind the projects as well.
Thanks a bunch!
You just gave me the project idea that I've been looking for. Thank You!
Thanks a ton for your valuable advice, instead of just saying I know JS and some framework; if somebody actually shows working project; it's a big value addition to the resume
I can't escape his videos...Everything is so important!!!
I always am pleasantly surprised when I watch a RUclips video and actually learning something valuable. Great advice!
I am jobless for couple of months
Preparing for interview.
Basically I am Mechanical engineer.
during my college days I hated the computer programs and I hated it.
After finishing my degree
I got a chance to work in a company.
There I learned how website can make anything.
And I came to know about JavaScript.
I love learning js everyday.finally I realize
The mistake is not in the language
But the way of teaching done in our college.
All the best dude

Thank you, for all the advices you give and videos you make. I'm really glad I'm subscribed to you
Have a great day
I really really appreciate you mentioning roughly how long the projects should take
Me: //having the same thoughts. In a week. Great. Should do that.
Also me: //spending almost a month on the portfolio website and still not done yet, because I'm constantly unsatisfied.

I can't thank you enough man. I haven't programmed in 3 months after going at it hard as a hobby 5 hours every Monday-Sunday for 3 years. I got tired even though I loved it and thought that would never happen. You gave me the inspiration for a portfolio website. Never before have I had an actual idea for design. I'm going to write it up and build it. God bless you man!

@@mjs2016 backend is cool, good for you
@@mjs2016 I have learn frontend and know some backend, any tips you can give me
@@yt-sh Learn as much as you can as well as you can. Don't rush. Take your time. Learn a library/framework and get good at it. Then move on to the next. You'll find that there are similarities in the popular ones that will make each new one easier to learn. Most importantly, don't get too caught up in all the technologies and languages. At the end of the day, they're all just tools and you're the one who uses them to accomplish a task. The more you use your tools the better you become with them. Lots of luck to you! :-)
Great advice! Thank you.
Great video!
I've got a suggestion though: add some graphics whenever you talk about the different points. A lower third subtitle should be enough.
This is a good suggestion. I need to take the time to learn my editing software better so I can make something that looks professional.
@@WebDevSimplified it is already professional and helpful :)

Great video a always Kyle!
Thanks great video, and projects!
The way you explain is so cool
Man you're a legend, the greatest of all time.
Thanks Brother for your information. May God bless you
This is such a great video, thanks
Thank You So Much Kyle.
100% true about what you said on game polishing! Developing the engine can take (hypothetical) three weeks, then developing the UI and making sure it functions on top of your engine can take almost twice as long if it's your first game project! If you do decide to make a game, keep your chins up and just power on through! You'll be surprised how much you learn just getting buttons to work properly. :)
Muito bom, mano!
Obrigado!
God bless you!
Web is really simplified
Thanks kyle♥️
I build a projects as you said I placed in a company thank you for ideas that work really in my life
Awesome video man
Changing career sounds overwhelming. But being a software engineer really makes me inspired to do it because I feel that coding is one of my passions, and you did an amazing job to explain your tips here in a simple manner. And I like your communication skills, clear and concise😉
Because of that, you have earned a new subscriber. Looking forward to learn tons of things in your youtube channel. Your content, I'm sure, will really help me to build a stong foundation in web development. Thanks and more power to you💕
Hi, I'm currently in the same process of changing career and this channel has provided me great insight into the web development, but also The Odin Project webpage. I just wanted to share that page just in case it is of any use to you and wish you good luck :).
my project used all kind of advanced stuff like celery, docker compose, 3rd party API, unit tests, load balancer, CI CD etc, but the front was as simple as possible with bootstrap and react, but recruiter said it too simple as a resume project lol she didnt even care im not a frontend developer :)
very interesting, thank you!

The rendering on your hair is fkin amazing dude, please do a tutorial on it :P. All joking aside these are good ideas and will get to work on doing these one by one, new project each week.
Very nice video, I will try to do that combining multiple technologies across the different projects: (e.g. reactjs, angular...)
Great video! I'll definitely try out the API project next.
Doing a useful channel like yours with all your knowledge also gets you hired.
Something that would be really interesting is to see _your_ solutions to these 5 apps one should make. Walk us through it, how you'd go about each one, etc
The point is not to see the solution, but to struggle, search alone and learn. The recruiters will ask questions about the technologies you used, what will you say, "I copied them from a youtube video"?? You think they are stupid?
Trust me guys, no project will get you hired unless it's built and currently being used by an actual business or organization. So go around and find a real company where you live. It could be a restaurant, a warehouse, or whatever, and build them something interactive. Doing this with give you a massive advantage over a lot of devs.
You're a great help, Kyle! Thanks so much for your work.
I dont know why your voice can transfer a lot of motivation in my way to be a web developer in the future

Kyle, liked to watch this one. I am looking forward to create a pretty API for my next project. Always enjoyed your channel. Keep posting and simplifying the web for the beginners as me. Thanks!
Thanks man realy appreciate you
Thanks for yo advice .love you
very usefully and interesting video presented clearly.
Best information thank you
Hay! These are amazing advices! Coming from someone who is currently building stuff for a portfolio myself
Yeah it would be nice if you can post the url to your protfolio site for us for inspiration ;)
I can confirm that a good looking portfolio is an advantage. My HR told me 2 Months after I got the job, that they took my over others (more skilled devs), because of my 'very brautiful' portfolio
Last tech challenge an employer sent me was a full stack frontend/backend/db of a fairly complex webapp and gave me less than a week to make it without considering I didn’t have 9h a day for them. Expectations right now are ridiculous
what?! I think they are trying to bait people by pretending to give them a job when they only want you to do or shorten their work for their clients.
what a scumbag company, name and shame!
Thanks!!!, section for the video for each projects would do better.
I'd say building a full-fledged e-commerce could take months, but a simple prototype that could impress some recruiters can be deployed in a week or so. I'd highly recommend to have 'game' project in your resume because it would familiarize you with how events work, some simple mathematics and how to handle collision, things like this.
How would you build a prototype?
@@Djinn667 very carefully
If you exclude the admin panel, it can only take a week. You only have to add some products, build a shopping cart, do some routing to the product page, little bit of payments knowledge and you're good to go.
Great vid! Just a recommendation, putting a title over when a new one starts or adding timestamps for people who for example already made option 1/...
Anyways, thanks for the insights!
Do you mind sharing the 3 projects you created so we can get a feel of them?
Thanks again!
Thanks Kyle! Really useful suggestions. I have a question. Should we add authentication to our portfolio projects? On the one hand I guess it would make them more professional/realistic. But on the other, it would also make it just a bit less easy for someone to quickly check out the project. What would you recommend?
Depends on the project. You could do either but if you want to make it testable by anyone then supply the login credentials somewhere easy to find
Oh ok. I'll include a ready username and password next to the link in the portfolio then. Thank you.
For next video, can u make tutorial for this 5 projects? And can u tell us what your job now? As viewers we want all kind of this videos to still motivate. Thanks a lot Kyle!!
I agree :)
Great suggestions
