Quick run through with two stereo room mics ONLY. STAGER SR2N into BAE 1073mpf into the DCOMP. Pretty blown away with the rooms. VERY light eq. Subscribe: / @cartermclean www.cdbaby.com/...
i've got a d comp and 2 of the audioscape eq1as's. stager sr1a. just amazing, affordable gear. the audioscape guys are killin it. their pultecs are the best sounding pultecs that aren't 5k plus.
WOW... That sounds killer! Carter, Will you be doing a video about your room setup and design? Curious who you worked with on designing the acoustics, what your room dimensions are, etc...
I'm at a loss to see why squashed drums sound better in this context. It makes sense if that's what you're going for, like fitting it in a mix and such. Maybe you want to crush the overheads? Well, maybe they're not entirely crushed but still. Love the sound with no compressor, just hearing only the room mics. Room sounds great. Not trying to be harsh, just a bit confused as to what I'm supposed to appreciate....
He’s just demonstrating some character that the compressor adds. Not for all contexts, but producers / engineers who are familiar with how drums fit into a mix can surely appreciate how these sounds could be perfect for lots of situations
I don't get it. Some here saying it sounded great. With compressor off they sounded like real and nicely tuned drums. With it on they sounded withdrawn and hollow.
Really cool sounding. Anyone know what hihat clutch that is? looking for a tiny one to put on my auxiliary hats and cut the rod to fit them in a tighter spot.
Fantastic stereo comp. Preserves the image even when rolling off the transients. Edit: These are only $1,399 new which is a phenomenal price.
The DCOMP only embellishes the sound from a great sounding room, great sounding drums played by a great drummer...

idk what that is but you’re good at playing the drums
You clearly are new here

Brings so much punch and ambience to the rooms without squashing transients. Really great! Thanks for all the great vids Carter
When the world needed him the most he returned
That's a really colorful unit... I dig it!
Don't bring me down!
That's exactly what I thought when I heard that hi-hat. Not the snare, but the hi-hat is near spot on.
Thought this too lol
@@mrpeachfuzzman2304 Wild. I don't think it was even initial, but wow he nailed it. LOL

WAYYYY!
With how crazy the pickup of those room mics were, to my ears and humble opinion, just adding a snare mic would perfect the sound for me

I covet your “Keltner” hat!
Nice pick up, considering that there are only 2 mic which are situated high above almost close to the ceiling.
Awesome comp, and awesome T-shirt.(Tシャツ超イケてる!)
