    I d have used the metronome while recording so the melody comes out in time without quantizing (or not too much at least). Great video, I've been using this technique since a long while and I've learnt some little nice tricks!

    I am looking forward for the finished track! I got a recording app on my phone because I forget the melody until i have switched on the pc (can't multitask with my brain). How important are the BPM settings when converting the audio into a melody? Could you also stretch/morph it with the Audio tools before converting to have some beats already on the grid?

    • @BeckySaifMusic
      @BeckySaifMusic  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately this project did not make the final cut and is no longer in existence. Sometimes you just have to accept that what you made was just for educational purposes 🤣. Bpm can be adjusted pre or post conversion. I didn't use the metronome in this example and the melody was converted as sung. If you want to get it more in time to your project tempo I'd suggest recording with metronome. Good point and question. 😊 I've never tried stretching the audio. Warping it may work also, for timing.

      Not sure how sitting on the ground for a youtube video would go down 🤣 in fairness, I should have probably not picked mid afternoon to film it. Just never expect it to be so hot in the UK, yet here we are. It's like Africa this year.

    Your melody does not tend to F, but to C.
    F minor and C minor have nearly all their notes in common (except for the D, which is D natural in C minor and Db in F minor).
    Here, in your example, it is a C that our ear awaits to end the melody, not an F.

    • @BeckySaifMusic
      @BeckySaifMusic  2 года назад

      It absolutely would have a meltdown if there was a chord 🤣 convert to melody is looking for individual notes. I've tried this on instrument loops and it works really well... so long as its a melodic solo.

    Problem here is that the melody is nothing like what you originally sang and to be honest, it was better before you interfered with it.

    • @BeckySaifMusic
      @BeckySaifMusic  2 года назад

      The melody doesn't have to end up exactly as sung. You could just leave it as is but I wanted to demonstrate other ways to switch things up so that people can take what they needed from the video and apply it to their own work. Not really here to make a number 1 melody for an educational video. 🤣

    • @Eleni_Be
      @Eleni_Be 2 года назад

      same thought here. wasn't impressed with any of the modifications (had hoped this video would do better than my experiments but of course there's a limit to non-AI systems).
      moving original blocks is a good tip, though.
