Nicki is inspiring AF
Shasha Vengesayi I really felt that when I walked in on my 11 year old cousins singing ass ass ass back in the day! Inspiring!

Angelina Polana well it's not only her who sings about booty xD
You’re an idiot.

YESS NICKI YESSS
Nicki Minaj herself is the world's biggest Culture Vulture.. She's from Trinidad.. She should be doing Calypso or Soca music, not Hip-Hop.
Not a fan but damn she was telling the truth and alot of people are mad
they so bothered girl 😂
dackjanielsmeup no she wasn't eventho I can't stand her I will not lie like she wasn't telling the truth
Mari Donaldson exactly lol
Miss Cali do you know what the word apologetic means she basically said she wants to be the only female on top and won't take a no for a answer and the nerve to involve Beyonce like as if she cosigns her bs, that's why Jayz didn't want Beyonce involved with Remy and her beef
PJ News excuse me are you trying to be funny asking me do I know what the word apologetic means all this shit that you telling me is the reason why I'm not a fan of Nicki I know how she truly is however I agree with her about stealing from Black Culture they copy us but don't like us that's the part that I agree with
Been listening to Nicky since 7th grade and def made me a bossss, seeing this side of her is nice. Keep up the good work and positivity 💫🌱🐛⚫️🦋

Best thing ive read all day
I never liked niki but I really appreciated her words in this interview.
She uses black culture to promote the idea of black women being slutty.
In Anaconda, for example, she wears african clothes while rapping about sex, superficial things...This stereotype is very hurtful.
She doesn't do a thing to promote african culture...I bet she doesn't know the basis of black culture.
Being afro-descent doesn't allow afro-descents to insult black culture (in general, any culture)like white people (european people, slavery masters, etc) do.
male rapper use sexuality to sell musicall the time, but when I female rapper does it its a problem lmfaoo stuff and sit down with your double standards
You imagination goes too far.
I have never said that it would be ok if the rapper were male.
Ancestral Ancestro that sounds like a personal problem. Nicki represents herself only, don’t say that she represents black culture because not everyone follows that standard. She’s her own artist stop putting her or other artists on a pedestal to represent our culture. Represent yourself.
Ancestral Ancestro Nicki does not wear African clothing in Anaconda

Cultural Appropriation is not the same as cultural appreciation!!!!!!
The Chips ok well we are talking about appropriation not appreciation
Your point here being??
oh please. Please give me an example of white people doing 'cultural appreciation', and then show me how it contrasts from when they appropriate culture?
You didn't answer my question. I asked: "Please give me an example of white people doing 'cultural appreciation', and then show me how it contrasts from when they appropriate culture?"
Secondly, 'white technology' is not 'white technology'; 'white technology' is black technology. All the things you claim to be yours as white people is based off of Europeans gaining from black technology and advancement. Just do some research on the Moors and how they pulled you up from the mire of the dark ages, and how you all used that for evil. Also, let's go further in Kemet and Europeans still stole EVERYTHING, plagiarised it and claimed it as their own...seems like cultural appropriation is in your blood b. Everything, even down to Philosophy, is due to black people...particularly African people. So, please do not try to take credit (and stunt) for something that is not even yours. Really do research, and don't allow your white inferiority complex, which forces ya'll to be unnecessarily braggadocio, get in the way of finding the truth.
Once more, "Please give me an example of white people doing 'cultural appreciation', and then show me how it contrasts from when they appropriate culture?" You should be the point of reference. Answer the question and make sense this time.
lol: 'like how blacks use white made technology. Internet, cell phone etc.'
It's quite interesting that you can't form an opinion about yourself without involving black people. lol. Tragic. Indeed, who ARE you without black people? What is your point of reference for a good sense of self?
ryan ball im sure you’ve never even seen a pic of africa or know any african country & you just wanna spit untrue facts, but you just tryna get us mad, but we aren’t, you seem pretty worked up though, i swear white people will start insulting us & then act innocent 2 seconds later, btw im a queen😊
People need to know nicki knows what she’s doing and people and haters can Stfu cuz they don’t know that nicki has real talent
But shes not black women either shes mox to so its very funny how yall saying cardi b isnt black when nicki isnt either
Nicki Minaj herself is not DOAS (Descendant Of American Slaves).. She was born in Trinidad.. She's a Culture Vulture who should be in fact doing Calypso or Soca music, not Hip-Hop.
I don't listen to her music but her style is bombbbb and I love her hair, makeup accessories. She really is a human doll, and there's nobody else like her💗
Her acceptance is so refreshing. There’s so many celebs who are lowkey racist/sexist and get praised for it or it goes unnoticed.
She is so inspiring and still is a year later from today 😍

To all the black people saying that black people have blonde hair too, HOW MANY BLACK PEOPLE DO YOU KNOW WITH NATURALLY BLONDE HAIR? There are white people who have coarse hair like ours so I guess it’s alright for white women to wear afro wigs. If we’re going to take that logic and reverse it.
The Black Melanesian
Toto Toto are you black Melanesian? Culture is not the same as race. Not all black people share the same culture. There is no such thing as a specific black culture , or white culture or Asian culture or South Indian culture, because they are all diverse. The cultural appropriation point is, if you don’t belong to a specific culture, then don’t profit from the culture of those people. Hair is not cultural... if hair was cultural, then all the black women who have worn blonde wigs and have profited their careers wearing those , are guilty... the same with straight wigs. This would go for allll black female celebrities and millionaires, and the average alcoholic person.
Toto Toto They’re a separate group and because of isolation they’re genes mutated so some of them came out with blonde hair. The main reason they’re dark is because of natural selection. Like Africa, Australia is hot and sunny so being highly melanated is naturally beneficial.
How many white people do you know that has hair as coarse as a black person’s?
Aliyah Harmon Especially Afro type hair..

tsering tashi She is half Asian are you dumb
But she doesn’t claim it as “new”
louie e Asia is hella big, is not only Japan lmao
I agree with you. Whenever someone that is black copies other cultures or at least uses their culture, it is always excused by everyone else. But when someone Asian copies or takes from the black culture (which is also a bad thing) people get mad. How is that fair?? Doesn't cultural appropriation go for everyone? I just genuinely want to know, please don't leave any hate comments. Thanks.
Right boo boo right. Nicki just wants to complain about something
That's how I feel about it in art. Yes, it is okay to take something someone else did and "remix" it, but credit them for it!
Cultural appropriation is a bad joke that even crickets don't wanna chirp for. Don't ever apologize for doing you.
One thing I ALWAYS LOVED about her is that she WANTED to be IN CHARGE she knew that her being in charge of her image and how she makes her self look was going to take her to the top these labels are too busy making these black artist look like air heads
If you are sitting now, immediately stand up in the honor of 👑Queen Tanya Maraj.
I'm unsure who the Cultural Appropriation Police are.
When this subject comes up (and it's usually black vs white) there are always black people who have opposing views.
So, is one black friend tells me that my cornrows are totally fine & the other says I'm appropriating, who is correct?
I grew in in Southern Louisiana, had my hair braided by Miss Perry, a bold, beautiful black woman, since I was a baby.

She gon' sit there and act like she wasn't appropriating Japanese women in 2009-2010? Oh alright....
Right???!!!!!
loveharrydaily hun, its not appropriating anything if you aren't taking it as your own. Nicki says japanese culture and styles have INSPIRED her. Unlike many people, she isn't stealing the culture. It's when culture is taken advantage of and misused.
How if Japanese culture is also part of her culture?

QUEEN OF RAP
I appreciate what she has to say, which leaves me wondering about the lyrics in her songs.
Exactly
Same here...Beyonce sings it and days it about women empowerment. Female rappers did it back in the early 90s queen Latifah especially from unity to ladies first. As a real artist you grow with your work not what gets you by.
Yesss my birthday twinnnnn 🔥😍 she will always be the baddiest
Can someone explain to me how wearing dreadlocks as a White person is cultural appropriation but when a Black woman has straight blonde hair it isn't? Im just confused. In Denmark it's really not a problem
I personally don’t have a problem with a white person wearing dreads, it’s a hair style, and you shouldn’t have any problem with her wearing blonde hair. Plus, blonde hair is not exclusively something white people have.
Caroline Kristiansen black women are forced to look European to make it in the industry unfortunately. For example, Amara la Negra. She was almost forced to straighten her hair or put in a weave because her Afro was not beautiful enough. Thank goodness she fought back. But I bet when a white women make her hair into an Afro, it's all of a sudden stunning. 🙄
Because blonde hair is not exclusive to a white person. Black people can naturally have blonde hair whereas dreadlocks are exclusive to black people since they originated from Egypt. It’s also more complex but that’s one side of it.
Caroline Kristiansen it’s not appropriation for white people to have dreads , she is saying that I.T is appropriation when white people wear dreads then act like they created the hairstyle or that it’s something new without giving credit.
The difference is that straight hair has no culture and we don’t use it as a fashion statement we use iweaves and wigs for hair protection just like braids dreadlocks etc.... it protects our hair and has a cultural meaning it means something to us and we usually get made fun of for it we literally get made fun of for embracing our culture meanwhile white People take our culture don’t know anything about it and use it as a fashion statement and get praised for it
Nicki has never made fun of or degraded any culture.. She wears works of art from different cultures as a homage .. Her first CD was her Alter Ego Roman which was a black gay man, who starts most pop culture fads

The world as we know it would not exist without the sharing, borrowing, appreciating and appropriating culture that's gone on throughout all of history. Only today are we demanding this sort of cultural ownership and recognition. Why? What does it accomplish and to what end? People who think their culture wasn't influenced by and borrowed from others in one way or another are ignorant fools.
Laura S. You are a delusion fucktard
You can not take a culture and call it your own when millions were oppressed for doing something that is now a “trend”. When black women wear their hair in dreads they are ghetto or street but when a white women does it it’s trendy and cool. Black women were forced to straighten their hair all the time for job interviews because they weren’t seen as professional. If your going to steal culture at least credit the culture that suffered
