My cat learned to open my door because it was an old latch handle. When he did that, I didn't bother to shut it after he came in. He would then jump on my bed and curl up next to me or between my legs and sleep there for hours.

I did hear that cats are indeed smart enough to associate you being loud and upset to something that they did but it only works in things that they did very recently, if you scold them a while after they did it they'll just think that you're doing it for no reason at all
Just like dogs or any other animal that is capable of learning social behaviours. They learn when something hurts or upsets you if they know what hurt/upset you and if they like you they will try to avoid doing it in the future. Like.. if a cat/dog bites another cat/dog too hard the other will cry/yelp or even swat/snap at them, letting them know that it hurts/they don't like what happened. Communicate clearly with them and they will understand. It doesn't have to be cruel to communicate your displeasure.
I personally don’t let my new kittens in my room at night because whenever I did they would PEE on my BED even if I let them in there for like a minute.
So no wonder why my cats are scared of my dad he hits them, yells at them, scruffs them for no reason and sprays them my mom caught on but hasn't done anything yet

Shouting does work. You just have to only do it when they are in the action of the error. I trained one cat I had to not scratch the furniture that way. When the he started to do that I said stop it loudly and he did. After a while he realized he was only to use the scratching post.

Number 3 puts me in a tough spot, because I really can't let them sleep with me if I want to even sleep at all. I have a high sensitivity to anything that might disturb me when I'm trying to get to sleep, and a cat being in the same room as me makes it impossible to do so, because they're either crowding my bed or doing things that disturb me. One of our older cats, Mishka, would have a habit of popping my bedroom door open and waltzing in while I'm trying to sleep, and while I initially tried to sleep with him, it just didn't work. Same thing with the new Maine Coons we got, König would always want to sleep with me, but that just made it impossible for me to sleep. I want them to be with me, and they sleep with my brother, but I just can't, and I had a feeling it upset them.
It’s fine, my kitten has learned to spend to night on his own. What I do is lay on the couch with him and sometimes fall asleep on there with him and he’s fine when I get up and go to bed and close the door.
It's the same for me, but goes even deeper. My cat has pica, and has to be watched in my room to make sure he doesn't eat my cables. Stuff that can't easily be tucked away, like keyboard cables, phone chargers, etc. I can't watch/redirect him if I'm asleep.
My mom though if we take a bath with both of my cats they would be both clean but that didn't happen well it did happen but our cats now for some reason doesn't like Each other now so we have a cat in the bedroom and we have a cat that can walk normally in the house he just can't go in the bedroom or else they will fight

Problem is with three, one of my cats really loves to eat stuff she cannot, and knock my stuff over. I have lots of small rocks, feathers, jars, and other things on these shelves and when she messes with them they could break or she could end up eating something bad for her health! She has eaten Styrofoam, an earplug, a piece of a bookmark, and regularly tries to eat miniatures. Don't worry she's fine but I don't want her doing that anymore because it will hurt her! At night I cannot supervise her to make sure she doesn't do that, so I usually can't let her in my room! 😢

They can't cry for emotional reasons. It's usually a medical problem if they "cry". The cats in this vid may even have had eye drops added to make them look like they're crying.
Screaming at cats really does upset them. I know when there’s yelling in the house the cat gets all upset and hides away for quite awhile after it’s over. It’s usually the only way I can get my cat to stop straching me but I feel bad.
@@huhorbuniula4049 😑 never was a stray got him at a shelter when he was 4 weeks old but had to wait a while cause of a cat virus going through the shelter cats. we did have another older cat in the house who threw out both of her back hips the night we brought him home trying to kill him. Kept them separate 11 years, that would be my guess for the scratching.

@@valentinanahh5614 I don’t bother him and he just comes at me. I say no and slightly raise my voice he will still come at me and I have to try and grab him, causing him to claw the hell out of my arms. I don’t grab him by the scruff because that’s really bad, but I end up screaming in pain.

The only reason I close my door when I sleep is because, if my cats come in they will start biting me. I move in my sleep so they attack me under the blankets
Me too my cat always bite my toes and I kicked her whit my legs many time while asleep 😂 if I don't open the door for her she scream and meow the whole night ght it's impossible to sleep so I always end up opening the door

My dad purposely hits an shouts at my cat. I've tried telling him so many times that he doesn't know what he's done wrong but he just says he's got to learn, but then gets very angry when my cat wont let him touch him 😢

3rd one is kind of a problem because some cats lay on their owner's faces and cause problems breathing and some cats jump around and/or the owner is a very light sleeper and would keep the owner awake
Yeah, it's super annoying. My cat stopped sleeping in my bed but sometimes sleeps in my bedroom, and most of the time she ends up playing with the phone charger, waking me up
