I can remember doing this exact job in 1973 . I used heat to fit the bushes . Put the old pin back in . Didn't look too closely at the end product . Luckily neither did the MOT man .
@@oldnutsgarage Had to drop bikes soon after - family etc. - got back into them via scooters when the kiddies flew the coop . Enjoying it more now with plenty of time . The swinging arm bush film took me right back .
@@oldnutsgarage Vespas are the best bet . There's a lad up here who digs them out . I got a Rod Model through him and a Raleigh Roma . I think it's the two stroke element I like about them .
From one Hey O who never learns to work smart and always harder. Sorry to hear of your break in, hope nothing to serious taken. Still enjoyed all the video’s you put out and will wait for more of your adventures. Stay well and be safe stay socially distance and ride the Harley Davidson everywhere you go, wink wink nudge nudge 😃 from a viewer from Kentucky USA
Hi Max, great to hear from someone in Kentucky ! The Harley will be coming out in the Spring as it is too cold at the moment for my frail old body, loads of ice about too. Thanks for watching and keep safe too!
Using two hack saw blades together in a frame type saw gives you a usefully much wider cut in the bush. S/A in the vice and 2 hands for the saw. This also works well if you want to add a screwdriver slot to a bolt head.
Doubling up is a good idea but I did not expect these bushes to quite so difficult. Mind you, having to use a 12 ton press to get the pin out should have given me a clue !

1973! You are even older than me Chas. Not a fun job to do, glad it is out of the way!

I like scooters too, had a few Vespas and was looking at one for a project only a couple of days ago!

A couple of very rare scooters, how does he find them?
Another good video thanks Mark ,look forward to the next.
Thanks Steve, much appreciated.
Good progress. It's all coming together now. I hope the recent 'hostilities' haven't hindered your work too much. All the best!
Cheers Keith, but I am not sure the Bantam is going to a quick build, so you may have to hang on in there!

Did you say twats lol 😂 it did sound like 👍🏻
whoops, sometimes things slip out !
How did you get the pin out?
It was pulled apart a long time ago now, but from memory brute force and heat!
Actually thinking about it later I used a mates hydraulic press on this one......
