I submitted these gold coins to PCGS on December 5th, 2023 and just got them back today (January 8th, 2024). That was a good turn around but should be for $70 a coin. That was with Express which did the TrueView. Over all I'm glad to have them back fast but wish two of them turned out better, you'll see which ones. hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.

I bought a 1851 $1 gold coin from my LCS, and it also came back from PCGS as "Counterfeit False Dies". Luckily my LCS is a stand up operation and gave me back my money PLUS the grading fee. Anyway, a "false die" is when an actual coin is used to create a die pair. Then gold of the correct composition is used in the "false dies" to strike a counterfeit coin. That's why it will measure and weigh correctly, and it will test correct on a Sigma as well (at least mine did). In the case of my 1851, $100 worth of gold was turned into a $300-$400 coin.

That 84 double eagle is still a slider, maybe crossover to NGC. Or as you mention CAC it.

I got a book "United States Gold Counterfeit Detection Guide" and the 1889 $2.50 isn't even in the book. I can see why you're disappointed. These older $2.50 fakes are really done well and they're a lot of them out there.

If you don’t have the chemical test take it to a pawn shop and have em do it. They couldn’t care less about fake mint mark just gold, then you’ll know if it’s 22kt or not.

Good luck if you are going with CAC. Just remember they're really tough on gold coins.

Bummer on the 1889. Really good score on the 1922 $20. I would check the 2 1/2 to see if it’s gold.

Thanks for great video. I like how you don’t reveal the grade immediately.
Gud luck with $2.5 sending to NGC

Two out of three ain't bad, buddy. At least it was the lesser of the 3 that had the issue. Would be interesting if local coin shop says good and you send it to NGC just to see what comes back. At least you may can confirm gold if they have a sigma.

Yea that’s true I’m happy enough with results. Wish the liberty was a MS at least. I’ll check at LCS and see what they think. I’ll probably send to NGC and see what they think also . Thanks for watching.

1889 is one of the low mintage years. Only 17,648 minted.
