Who's Your Favourite Drum Engineer? Check Out Moses Schneider's New Course At Hansa Studio: promixacademy.com/course/moses-schneider-masterclass-at-hansa-studios/
Moses is THE dude. He changed my way of thinking in 2017 with his Wurst technique and then again last year with the Droom. A loud, heavily compressed room with next to zero cymbals is heavenly.
after your last video with Moses I self recorded the EP of my band and tried the SNAREO and DROOM mic techniques and got amazing results using the DROOMS, not so much with the SNAREO. I already implemented the WURST technique years ago after reading Moses' book
Over the decades, many have suggested I adopt a similar mic technique when recording my own vocals... of standing in the null spot behind the mic while it faces away from me.
In 2013 he made this pretty eccentric retro-album at Candybomber-Studios in Berlin, where he recorded the whole band on a vintage Telefunken 4-track (with mono drums!) and still sounded enormous. The wurst never fails, it seems. 🙂
This was really cool. I just got a pair of Beyer M160, to use for overheads. And watching this, now I can switch over the Line Audio CM4 I was using for overheads, over to Droom. I was using the tiny affordable stereo Earsight Omni mic set on the floor, away from drums. But, I'm going to try switching these over to Snareo. Love the idea, especially since I'm in a small room and so a dry close mic 'underhead' set is attractive. Similar with Wurst, was using SM57, but switched over to Beyer m201. So, I'm going to try moving the SM57 over to Wurst. I reckon your techniques are particularly useful for people like me recording in smaller drum rooms. It's nice the way there is a good range of Elysia plugins available now, the Alpha Compressor, the Karacter, mpressor, nvelope, museq, Phil's Cascade etc... I have the compressors, but think I might try out nvelope and Karacter then.
I´ve buyed the masterclass course yesterday. I then received 2 emails. One with the multitrack files and a Q&A video and one with the invoice. Where are the Masterclass Videofiles?
40 sec Ad then 20 sec Ad then 36 sec Ad then 20 sec Ad all within 14 minutes. (All for crap I won't buy) Never used to be like that. So never bothered watching to the end. What's changed?
Hi Andy, I'm watching and have only seen one skippable ad so far. I have been told that unfortunately ads are dependent on individual users habits, for instance I don't get that many because I watch for long periods so they aren;t trying to get me before I click away and I don't get political ads because I'm more likely to get music stuff and kids toys from my daughter using my RUclips channel!
