that's a good idea, thank you. ostrich hurls are feathers too. I chose to use a white chicken hackle for this particular pike fly because it will maintain a thicker profile in the water, hackles are less expensive and pike seem to eat this pattern no matter what materials you use to tie it with.

this is just a deceiver but you used marabou instead of bucktail.
