  • Have you thanked a veteran? Here’s your chance to honor the Willys-Jeep M715, a mil-spec vehicle that served on the Korean DMZ, Vietnam, and around the world.
In this episode of Tested 4x4, Ian Johnson shares a couple of M715 pickups that he has at the Big Tire Garage, including his own former emergency services rig.
While the Jeep Tornado inline-six was a problematic engine, there’s no doubt that an M715 can be an epic off-roader that will offer its caretaker the opportunity to rule the trail.

One of my ESD's sold two they were using as brush trucks last year…still have one in service that I'm trying to convince the chief to allow me to procure when they are ready to remove it from service. It is clean and rust free with the tin top on the cab…since it was last repainted its been maintained like any other brush truck…kept inside and washed after every outing.

Manufactured for 2 years, fulfilled contract, but were still being used until late 70's. my unit drew their new Dodge 880 series trucks in 1978, and turned in their M715's. First tour in Germany in 1968, my unit drew new M715's

They are tough as hell. To bad they didn't get with GM to use a 453 Detroit. That would have been bullet proof.

Had a J20. Loved it. Unless I needed to go very far on the highway. Low - Low gears.

Ian! Not to nitpick (but I am), while it’s not as easy on the Kaiser, the M998 HMMWV is indeed capable of folding the windshield flat. No practical or military reason to do so, by it can be done.

I would love to see a list of what all you did, I just had my 67 delivered and am putting a clutch in it so I can drive it. I will start on the rest after that.

So Cool! I love my 1968 Kaiser M715. That Tornado 230 motor is a fickle B*tch!
