Hi ! This is a bucket list hike for me. Any tips for a first timer hike on old rag ?? I have not done any form of rock scrambles before. We are going next week (2nd week of November). Is there any area super steep aside from the drop off into a crevasse you showed... thanks !
I am planning my first hike on Old Rag and I have the same question. Basically, if you stick to the trail are there any spots where you could just fall off a cliff? I love the Bear Fence scramble inside the park but I know Old Rag is more intense.
I sure have, dragons tooth is a cool spot. I've done McAfee knob and tinker cliffs multiple times. I just did them a few weeks ago again, check out the video, its on my channel as Virginia triple crown loop. Thanks for watching!
Thanks. Very nice video. I just finished hiking the Grand Canyon rim to river to rim. I'm looking for something closer to home to hike. I live about four hours away from Shenandoah National Park so this hike is definitely in my future.
Imma hillbilly. The gear I tested on this hike was some walmart sneakers, a sweater I found on a parking lot, and a used Gatorade bottle with some 550 nylon.
Great video. Very well captured. I was there last Sunday. Started the hike at 2:30 pm from the parking lot and returned back at 8:30 pm. Just three of us all the way up as nobody seems to have started that late on Sunday. It was an amazing experience and wonderful seeing sun set behind Shenandoah. Walked down in pitch dark as it was No moon day. Can't wait to go back as I was so scared to even get my camera out most of the way.
Nice rendition of Old Rag. I like the time lapses. I've done this one several times, but always look for an excuse to go on a weekday and avoid the crowds. Subbing to you to see what's next, looks like we cover similar areas! Keep trekking.
Hey Thanks brother beautiful views and they never get old

Hillbilly Hikes, have you done Dragons Tooth? That’s a great one too. We did that one just a few weeks ago. Did McAfee the next day.

Hillbilly Hikes, so would you say old rag is harder than the rock scrambled of dragons tooth?
Old rag is definitely harder, but more fun also
