- On day one of our trip, we flew into Cancun, Mexico from Chicago, and proceeded through immigration (utilizing the new electronic immigration system) and connected with our shuttle driver (Happy Shuttle) to the ferry port at Puerto Juarez. We rode the ferry to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, then walked to Ixchel Beach Hotel. After check-in, we had a pleasant (and eventful) dinner at Ocean's Isla Restaurant, strolled through town, and stopped for groceries. #islamujeresmexico #ixchelbeachhotel #playanorte #cancun #ultramarferry

Thanks for watching our video! The beach is clean and very nice. There are many beach chairs with umbrellas if you'd like (and they're free). They can even put an umbrella by your pool chair if you ask. Waiters will visit you on the beach and take food and drink orders. The air conditioning works very well, and our room was very clean. We are staying at Ixchel. Do you recommend walking? How long and time required? Would a taxi be better?
The walk is about 4 blocks from the port to the hotel. We usually walk, but we travel light. If you have a lot of luggage, you may want to opt for a taxi.
