Oh that's great to hear! When I do these recommendation videos I'm sometimes a bit, who am *I* to be telling people what to read? But I'm glad they're helpful!
@JoelSnape1 I've gone out of my way to actually find your recommendations. I love reading but I usually don't end up finishing books and have made it a goal to actually finish more books, and the ones you have recommended are the only ones I've been able to finish and enjoyed the entire time. Last one I finished about a week ago was "We are Bellingcat" and that was amazing as well.
There are a couple of good suggestions on that list that I will definitely be checking out soon. I made a real effort to read more this year, I thought I read a decent amount but 57 books is incredible
@@JoelSnape1 I particularly enjoyed The Maniac by Benjamin Labatut, In Ascension by Martin MacInnes, Agassi's biog 'Open', The Places In Between by Rory Stewart, and Conquerers by Roger Crowley - in fact, all of Crowley's history books are just fantastic, he's such a great writer.
Along similar lines to the Mad Max book, I would recommend MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios and fiction wise I have really got into Japanese crime fiction the past year and would recommend Malice, The Devotion of Suspect X and Murder in the Crooked House. The latter of which being a locked room murder mystery like Moonstone
For 2025 one of my top 5 picks is Infrequent Frequencies Rare Resonance by G.E. Poole. Award-winning non-fiction, highly topical exploration of science, mysticism and consciousness. Completely unconventional lens on everything, practical guidance for negotiating through the coming times of turbulence, great filters, impacts of AI and inspiring hope for humanity.
good list - just finished The Coming Wave by Mustafa Suleyman found of Deepmind. it is not one for those that are pessimism averse but i think it should be essential reading for many in the arts, medicine and industry - the implications for an artificial general intelligence are daunting both good and bad
Amazon's been recommending me this for a few months now, but I think this might tip me over the edge. It can't freak me out any more than Superintelligence (I hope)

I love when you do book recommendations! I've read a few you've recommended in other videos and I'm never disappointed. Thank you.

Any recs from you? Obvs I don't really think numbers matter, I just like people to know I've read a bunch so I'm picking from a lot.

I recommend everyone to find the book titled The Secret Doctrine of Wealth, it changed my life.
By who ?
Finally, a list where I haven't seen any of the books. The Moonstone looks very interesting.
It really is a cracker (the Woman In White is on my list as well)
Love it, great video Joel!
Thanks man! Hope you're well

Great shouts Kurt, thank you - I always enjoy good Japanese fiction when I find it, and that MCU book is one I've been thinking about for a while. Ta!
Shared this video in the back page podcast discord and have sold 4 copies of the see what you’re missing book, including one sale to me

That's actually a videogame-style trailer they made for the book! You can see it here ruclips.net/video/5Gi08tFLldM/видео.html
Great video 😊
Thanks! 😊
I can recommend The Power of Bad: And How to Overcome It by John Tierney and Roy F. Baumeister if you haven't read it.
I've just looked it up, interesting premise. It's going on the list!
I love Moonstone if you enjoyed this try his other one The Woman in White it is just as good.
Yeah I'm planning on it! I've watched a Korean film it was kind of based on so I'm pretty familiar with the plot but I do love his writing

@JoelSnape1 it is well worth it. My children are young and still in primary school. It will have real implications for them
