Mina Kimes is a reflection of what a sports analyst was back in the day. All knowledge & research & no need for a hot take or click bait statements. Old school respectable journalism. Thanks Mina
She manages to provide something sober clear-headed analysis while still managing to exist comfortably within modern take culture and how she does it is beyond me. She's a wizard or something haha.
Mina brings out the best in every one of the guests/contributors so far. Reasonable, responsible sports talk is really dope in a weird media era. Dope shit, Mina.
Mina analyzes football like a good film critic analyzes film. It's not about takes, it's not even about brand or anything like that, it's just about analysis of the game. It's really great.
@HenryEwald-c5g there's nothing wrong with being biased. I don't think she analyzes them different because she likes them, it's fine that we know which team she likes. That has nothing to do with what I said. There's tons of people you have no idea which team they like and they're just saying hot takes for clicks and they're terrible.
Also so what if she leans Seattle a lot. Then if she's wrong it's like oh I'm a fan and I'm blinded by that a little bit. Who cares It doesn't change anything. She doesn't have to be right with all her pics, but she breaks down football very well.
Thank you Mina for not using the Corporate narrative takes as talking points. This genuine interest in the game is why everyone wants to hear from you.
Great show you guys!! 58:00 Fred Warner dropped that Herbert has a hurt ankle; he couldn't move at the end of the season and it showed. I LOVE Mina's ire for Greg Roman at the end! Keeping it REAL!
It was crazy how often the Steelers had it wrong. Watt grabbed the wrong person at least 6 times, and the one with the ball was gone. Lamar was reading him like crazy.
Mina Kimes is pure cuteness, and such an enjoyable watch, with that constantly beaming smile and a refreshingly interesting knowledge and viewpoint about the sport and how to communicate it. I'm not exactly sure what the right words are to explain why I love to watch this show, but I really love it a lot.
Mina is soooooooooo adorable and she knows how to expertly dissect games post-mortem. Sammy Dimes was done in by a horrible O-line and poor game plan by KOC. But it's OK, he'll still get 5 year/$250M contract from the Raiders.
Washington's Quinn actually outcoached Bowles in Tampa. Quinn went for it on fourth down five times which was the difference in the game. One of those times gave them a touchdown instead of a field goal - the difference in the game. When Tampa had the same opportunity with 5 minutes left, Todd Bowles said, "No, we will rely on our defense which has ZERO stops." Yes, Washington never punted once in the game. They went for it on fourth down every time. Five times in all, making it three of them. When you do that, and know your opponent is not a risk taker, you win the game (especially when the defense cannot get off the field). Mina does mention it near the end of the segment and gets on Todd Bowles as well appropriately - amazing!
LJ is a cross between Barry Sanders and Allen Iverson. He can change direction and hit top speed within a step and he has the best cross over dribble in the NFL
Jordan love in general was the clear woof. It seems like such a cop out to just address his lacking mobility. That second interception had nothing to do with mobility.
I get its confusing to see a man that looks like he was built in a lab to be an elite QB just not be very good consistently. But the fact Mina was finally able to admit Herbert had a bad game is a big step on the road to recovery. Baby Steps!
Why is Kevin O Connell not getting more blame. It was very clear all he wanted to do in BOTH of the last 2 losses was throw the ball all over the field with deep developing routes and 7 step drop backs even tho it was CLEAR his quarterback was rattled and his line wasn’t able to pick up the blitzes. They had success in the first half last night running the ball, but anytime a run went for 1 or 2 yards, he IMMEDIATELY went “ok were not running it on this drive again”. He was made a fool of by the rams DC and Mcvay. His game plans remind me of his hair line, looks good until it gets exposed.
Mina is good, Foxworth is a DEI defender. Tomlin would've been out on his ass years ago if he had been a white coach. He isn't good, he's middle of the pack at best and he's refusing to advance with the times and where football has moved to!
Beyond quality analysis, it's nice to hear from analysts who actually like the game. All of those hot take artists who get excessive air time sound miserable and they focus more on bullshit narratives, stories and drama than they do actual on-field/court performances Though the comment on the Eagles' vibes is getting dangerously close to that territory. This team has been winning decisively since the bye, the guys always support each other...it's all manufactured.
Love the show. Need more Lenny. How about a segment on upsets called “Lenny’s ruh roh’s “ you can wear a Velma wig and sweater. Just a thought. Thanks 🐻⬇️
Vibes aren’t high amongst who with the Eagles Mina? Vibes are immaculate amongst players as evidenced by any of the mic’d up clips and anything from the field or locker room postgame. Vibes are immaculate amongst fans, the overwhelming sentiment is we’re winning the Super Bowl. I’ll even throw in vibes being immaculate amongst alumni, Kelce, C Long, Honey Beau Beau, Fletch, etc. etc. The media tries this every year with the Eagles even prior to the Sirianni/Hurts era. The vibes aren’t high for YOU because the Eagles are good, I guess. I mean that’s the only explanation. Funny that every fan knew exactly what the talking point would be when they showed their weekly cherry picked sideline shot of AJ (you can find a shot of any player not looking absolutely elated every single game, they know what they’re doing). Me and all my friends were mocking what the talking points would be as soon as they showed that and one was “are the vibes amiss in Philly” lmao only thing we got wrong was you said it as an absolute statement instead of a question. AJ was clearly fine if you saw the clip of him, Smitty, Sirianni, and Coach Singleton at the end of the game and even if he wasn’t AJ doesn’t dictate the vibes of the team.
@@towelociraptor @ Yup, they did the same thing to Alshon. I will say this in Sam Darnold's defense: it was the first playoff start in his career. He's never been in a situation like he was in this year with Minnesota. If he can watch the film and work with his coaches, he can adapt. We have no idea what JJ McCarthy will be like, so perhaps a 2-year deal for Darnold in the $30M/season range as a gap?
I don't think you need to say anything in defense of Sam. I love what he did for the team this season, and I'm really glad that they'll hold on to McCarthy now. Mina's point about seeing Stafford and then seeing Darnold... It was so clear where the problem was.
Lamar is a magician at the mesh point. The Woof is Mike Tomlin and his penchant for cowardly punting. You want to be the bully? Ok. Be the bully and go for it on 4th and inches.
Line play needs to be more effective and realistic. Seems like the new good NFL has a quarterback to accentuate the offensive line. Daniels and Jackson maximize the efforts of the offensive line. Hurts rookie season Wentz was sacked a bunch. The line called terrible. Hurts gets in the game and he moves with the line. He acknowledged that some defenders were going to beat some of his linemen. He went away from the jailbreak. Subsequently the line played harder. Hurts draws defenders and springs his running back. You could see it on his first hand off on his first start as a root when Sanders got like a fifty yard touchdown. You saw lamar Jackson draw 3 defenders while Derek Henry runs a long touchdown. Teams instead of bashing on the line they have. Get a philosophy to use what they can do acknowledging what they can't. Jordan Love has a great arm. However Green Bay could have used Malik Willis to employ a winning strategy. Get some ball control. Easier throws. Play action has teeth. Fewer turnovers. Baker Mayfield is perhaps the best example. He's not a super talented runner. He runs enough. He's doing a good job. A team with a mediocre offensive line should get a mobile quarterback and a premier running back. You know you cant get patrick mahomes. You know your line cant create an environment for a pocket passer. Go with a strategy to maximize their efforts. Joe burrow needs to run more and more with his line. He's talented with speed but always runs like its a surprise he's running. Instead of all of the sacks, learn from lamar. Dude has good speed. Can get a few yards and out. He can improve his lines grade. Pittsburgh Steelers had justin fields doing a fully traditional strategy. While you need the threat over the top. You can help things by featuring your running back and using the QB enough to pause the defense. Just doing hand offs wont work. Daniel Jones should get to the Washington practice squad and learn from Daniels. Marcus Mariota is noticeably better.
O-Line versus "skill" players drafting debate here. For example, Patriots fans desperately need about 6 decent o-linemen but are salivating over skinny , fast guys with top pick.
