Having made his senior debut for the club in May 2017, Scott shares with Jake and Damian the attributes he has developed over the years, including consistency, dedication and discipline. Scott shares some of the best advice he has ever received, including a humbling phone call from José Mourinho and important guidance from current Man United manager, Erik Ten Hag. He also illustrates how influential his relationship with coach Warren Joyce has been in reshaping his career trajectory as well as the learnings he took from United legends Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick.
Scott sheds light on the unique culture at Manchester United, how his hard work has enabled him to establish himself as a regular in the first team, and how his grit means he will fight to stay there.

It's nice to hear, how mentally Scott had managed to cope going through the ranks at Manchester United, being able to the big players around him and the entrance of going on the pitch at Old Teafford listening to the 75,000, fans applauding the team, the buzz he must of got feeling this moment. Just hope the team can get more consistency now. Come on Scott let's be that leader on the pitch, it definitely needs one.

When he talked about young players coming through and their passion - ultimately Scott came through the academy and whether we think he's our best player or not, you can't blame him for wanting to continue to play for his boyhood club. There's no doubt he cares for the club.

Lots of negative comments about Scott but this guy lives and breathes Man United. He is a great pro with the right attitude and mentality. He might not be as naturally gifted as others but he more than compensates for it by being ultra competitive and a really good team player. Makes me fed up when I read so much negativity by contributors here and so-called football expert you tubers who make destructive comments about McTominay because they’ve got an agenda against him. If we had more in the team with his positivity and can-do attitude, we’d be better off. As I say, not the most gifted but sets the right example. Well done Scott.

This have always been a big issue with Scotty. He played as striker in his academy days but it was Jose that promoted him to the first time and tries to mold him into a CDM to replace Matic or some kind of box to box midfielder due to his height and physique. Ole, Ralf and ETH continue to played him as midfielder. As fans watching him all these years, we all agree his not a great midfielder. You can say whatever you want but one thing for sure is h plays for the badge and I sometimes think he doesn't get the credit he deserves. If everyone in the team has Scott,s work ethic we would be set to top 4 .Side note I have a friend who is a member of Morecambe golf club and he said Scott,s dad is a member and say he is so down to earth and this podcast points to the reason why!

Alex Ferguson recently commented "McTominay should be the first name picked". Moyes was picked by AF, Darren Fletcher has a technical director job thanks to AF, McTominay has a career thanks to AF. Do the math, Scottish denominator.

Great interview with Scott - admire his commitment & dedication. Despite this season being frustrating for Utd, I'm proud that we have so many academy players at the core of our team (Marcus, Mainoo, Scott, Garnacho + Dan Gore, Willy etc). Can any other Prem team compete with the Utd academy output....?

There must be fairy godfather on his Scottish shoulders, who cast spells on every manager to pick him.

A very honest professional who is maximising his talent as a solid Prem player and Scottish international. He shouldn't be doing this feature at this stage of his career and would nice to see him somewhere like West Ham or Everton where he'd play regularly and be appreciated (note Mark Goldbridge's comments about him).

  • @simonfellows2565

I genuinely believe if he was to be made captain instead of the hot and cold Fernandes who brings the team down when they are losing, we would see a different player. He is captain material, but does he have the talent as well, maybe not. Still would love to see him captain utd

My favourite moment was Scott talking about Mourinho leaving and the self doubt around that. Fascinating to hear that perspective from a player, we don't often get to hear that insight from a player, it's usually a robotic "we're all on board with the new manager "

Amazing to see the drive and passion of Scott, sadly the missing factor is ability. I’d wish that rashford, sancho, Anthony, had that desire with their natural talent.
Hopefully we’ll see these average joes being moved on from the biggest club in the world and resume the number 1 position.

That was brilliant; thank you, Scott. I am a Manchester United fan who often criticises your performances (justifiably so, I think). But today, in this podcast, it has shown that as football fans, we need to remember that you guys are only human (somebody's son, daughter, brother, sister) - strangely, this is something we can forget due to the emotion and tribalism football carries. Now I can see why Robbie Savage respects you so much.
I have shared the link to this episode in our family WhatsApp group - Thank you again for the insight!

everybody is somebody's son, daughter and parent. that doesn't mean you get paid 300k grand a week to just get sympathy for having a family and being like everyone else?

    • @dannymahon6929

@redblazer29 Scott certainly ain't getting that kind of money. He is one of the only United players that I actually like even though he hasn't got the top quality needed.
But the money players get is absolute obscene, especially the shower of charlatans at United (excluding the youth players & lower paid ones).
The ridiculous wages causes a big disconnect between players & fans

  • @haslam44

‘Play like you mean it’ - acknowledging that the fans just want to see players ‘work hard’ (I may have mentioned this on my episode) 👍🏼
