- The summer 2023 I had an incredible bike tour along the Erie Canal Trail, cycling 360 miles in six days along the Erie Canalway from Buffalo to Albany, NY. Here is my documentary of the ride capturing all the beauty of the trail and the awesome moments I had on my bike. 🚴♂️🎥
Day 1 - Tonawanda to Brockport (70 miles)
Day 2 - Brockport to Lyons (62 miles):
On the second day, you'll pedal approximately sixty-two miles from Brockport to Lyons along the Erie Canalway Trail.
Day 3 - Lyons to Green Lakes State Park (70 miles):
Day three covers seventy miles, leading you from Lyons to the scenic Green Lakes State Park.
Day 4 - Green Lakes State Park to Ilion (66 miles):
The fourth day involves cycling sixty-six miles from Green Lakes State Park to the town of Ilion.
Day 5 - Ilion to Arrowhead Marina Park (69 miles):
For the fifth day, you'll be cycling sixty-nine miles from Ilion to Arrowhead Marina Park.
Day 6 - Arrowhead Marina Park to Albany (23 miles):
On the final day, the ride covered the last stretch, cycling twenty-three miles from Arrowhead Marina Park to reach my destination in Albany.

Thanks for watching and letting me know about this cute animal 😁
Just saw this one pop up. Don't have time to watch it right now, but will later. Thanks for posting your adventures.
Thank you for letting me know. Hope you enjoy my adventure. Erie Canalway Trail is such a beautiful trail one of my favorites.
Great recap and compilation at this trip as well. Awesome adventure. Have a wonderful day.
Thanks. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Weeping Willow trees at 1:40 Thomas!❤
Yes, thank you 😊
Thanks for recording and uploading this! Living near Buffalo it was really cool to see the parts I'm used to riding right at the beginning of the video and then all of the new stuff. Some day soon I'll make this trip myself!
Glad I got to give you an overview of the entire trail. It's one of the best rides at all times. You gonna enjoy the ride 👍
I live in Jordan one of the small villages you rode thru on Empire trail. I often see bikers stop at the pizza shop in the village they have picnic tables outside as well as a small coffee shop across from that. Also, a family dollar store .
Empire State Trail was one of my all time favorites. 👍
Great Thomas! I just wanted to comment before I can watch, and give it my undivided attention. Looking foward to it. Perfect content for a snowy cold Buffalo NY evening!
Awesome, thank you! I'm glad you're watching and leaving the comment. 😊
That was quite a beautiful ride We plan to ride south from Albany to NYC in the spring.
After I finished the Erie Canal Trail I went back next month and rode the second leg of the Empire State Trail also from Albany to NYC. Here is the first video. ruclips.net/video/JQUwCb-mD-c/видео.html
Wonderful adventure thanks for sharing. What camera did you use to film this one? iPhone?
I use GoPro. I have two of them, one is mounted on my handlebar and turn it on every once a while for short clips and later combine into one video. For birds I use a small Sony point and shoot camera.
Great video and images. I appreciate you including where you stayed. Solo cycling lodging choices are the hardest to plan. I am planning this trip in September. You mentioned an app on your phone besides google maps. I don't see much in the app store. can you share what app you used? Thanks,
I used my RideWithGPS app and this interactive map empiretrail.ny.gov/map. I like that it's pinpointing your actual location all the time. The trail itself is also well marked, hard to get lost. I also used Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation when needed. It's a beautiful trail, easy to ride, I would even say one of the best I have ever ridden. Have fun! 😊
Hi, Really enjoyed watching your Erie canal adventure, very informative, you mentioned two apps, Google maps and Empire State Trail? how did you find the Empire route app, I've looked in play store and google search, is it turn by turn map?. looking forward to hopefully doing this ride soon, I live in England. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking out my Erie Canal Trail ride. Here is the Empire State Trail website with a map. empiretrail.ny.gov/ I'm not aware of the app.
Wooo buen top
Thanks 👍
We have lots of canalboats around that people rent
Cool, I noticed some too along the canal 👍
At 43:33 you said "this part looks pretty new". It is NOT, it's been there for decades, the only "new" is the fact that they paved it with asphalt when it used to be just crushed stone. I've walked it countless times over the past half a century or more. The "trail" there and along most of the canal are the old tow paths.
Thanks for the insight 😃
