One thing, Yes, the supplied significant materials to Russia and the US certainly provided very significant men and materials to the war in Europe. However, Canada contributed far more than 10% of the US effort. Canada had a population less than 10% of the US, yet Canada sent almost as many troops as the US, and if you include Canadians serving in the US forces and British forces, the total number of Canadians in Europe was certainly as much as US troops if not more. Canada also produced many tanks, including Shermans, as well as parts for almost all US tank production. Canada also produced millions of trucks, including the ubiquitous GMCs. Never mind munitions, rations, uniforms, rifles, machine guns, anti-tank rifles, sub machine guns, handguns, artillery, self propelled artillery, ships of all sorts including landing craft, aircraft (Mosquitoes just to name one) In the end, Canada provided pretty much half of all materials used by all allied forces in Europe. The US did not win the second world war by themselves, it was a group effort of many nations combining their efforts to supply and equip allied forces. Without all of them together, especially Canada and the US the war would not have been won. Yes, the US joining the war in Europe was absolutely necessary for Victory, but without the full support of Canada and other countries the US alone could not have won. There is no question that the US did not singlehandedly win WW2.
Very good information. Despite all the stuff the US sent, it was the USSR that gave millions of lives. It was the Soviet people despite their government that beat back the Nazis. A lot of us in the US sort of ignore Canada despite it just being a short drive away. One would think there would be more US media coverage of Canada.

Not even a few working T-34 from storage and museums. Not even for this holiday. Even North Korea manages it to make more impressive parades all the time. It's pathetic. 🤦♂
I mean, they're kinda stuck in a horrible position: They can't cancel the parade, that would have horrible optics. They can't fill the parade with an impressive array of vehicles because they've sent them/their operators/maintenance crews to the (officially not a)war in Ukraine. This also looks bad. Theoretically they could save face saying "well our best parade units are off fighting", but that also looks bad, because officially it isn't even a "war", and is against a numerically inferior force where if the Russian military was as powerful as they say they are, they should have a few tanks and crews to spare for a few days to participate in thus parade... so they can't even try to use that excuse either...
WWII set the political picture for 80 years and also explains why the US is having so much trouble with our border, all our enemies understand that it is our protected factories that must be controlled to win any conflict. Indeed, Soviet casualties were absurd. Like, no amount of "superior German warmachine" can explian how horrible the Eastern front was.
And at wars end the Soviets tried to yse those disproportionate losses to justify why they should get to keep Easter Europe under their rule.
I almost wonder if the Soviets lied about how many died, or if they deliberately used tactics/strategies with high casualty rates expecting to pull that heart string later...
You're right. Based on that chart Artur had, if the West had kept pushing east it would have been entirely different ball game with the USSR not receiving any material aid.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC i believe you are over thinking it. soviet strategy was to attack chin and nards first until the Germans ran out of bullets or drowned in Russian blood. not much has changed it would appear. what a waste of a perfectly good country.
If Germany had defeated Stalin, it would have become much stronger than it already was. And it would have had unlimited resources. The UK and the US would by themselves never have been able to defeat it. This, by the way, is why Germany did invade Russia: to get to their resources.
That was the reason why they helped Stalin.
@@TheEvertwThey didn’t help, but sold to one side and the other. Just like now.
The 9th May parade was conspicuous for the lack of adult soldiers, but the cadets led by their teaching officers filled part of the gap, the other part was filled by larger numbers of Sailors than usual. Probably because they have more sailors than ships available.
Let's not forget the tank. That's right "the" tank, as there was only one again this year.
All in all it was a very short parade.
What a mess Putin and his entourage have made of Russia.
I enjoy your Bloodhound Gang reference every time. Keep up the struggle. Don't succumb to the dark struggle. The world is a better place with you in it.
In the mid 1930`s Germany was actually testing German army vehicles in Russia to get around Treaty rules from the 1st world war. That is how close Stalin and Hitler were for several years before Hitler stabbed Stalin in the back.

Ok, men, get out of those parade uniforms, load up with your combat gear, and head to the front.
Don’t forget to ditch all those bogus medals, they weigh you down and make an awful lot of noise.
This 'victory joke parade' speaks for itself. The wet snow is the least of the problems. You mentioned 'mr potato head' Lukashenko, did you also notice a somber Miguel Diaz-Canel, president of the failed state of Cuba, to his right? That's right, invite your favorite losers to the wet and cold celebration. This scene reminds me of the final DRR parade in East Berlin in 1989, where 'Gorby' joined an 'almost dead' Erich Honecker viewing the NVA troops just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The tradition of German 'goose step marching' appears live and well in Moscow.
The only tank the Russians had in the parade was a soviet one that was designed and built by the Ukrainians.
have a nice week end
In several places in the ussr the population lived on a minimum of food. If they had not received food aid from the United States, there would have been famine catastrophes in these areas and the risk of rebellion
Canada supplied agricultural aid to the Soviets of 9 million bushels of wheat to eighty tons of brome grass seed, which continued after the war in Europe ended to September 1945 of 28,000 tons of flour.
Producing enough food has long been a struggle for Moscovy/Russia. Poland and Ukraine have always exported food. IIRC, the Baltics were net exporters as well. a few.professors in college believed this added the deep seated hatred Russia has for those countries.

Artur, you are the best news anchor I have ever watched
Never mind munitions, rations, uniforms, rifles, machine guns, anti-tank rifles, sub machine guns, handguns, artillery, self propelled artillery, ships of all sorts including landing craft, aircraft (Mosquitoes just to name one)
In the end, Canada provided pretty much half of all materials used by all allied forces in Europe.
Check the war surplus stock on Yonge street, Toronto: The number 19 Wireless SET Mk II, were available for about 20$ Can. They were made by Marconi in Montreal, Quebec, Canada All front panel labelling was in English and Cyrillic for Russia, for use in tanks, trucks and and jeeps. Psiba Tovarich!
Highschool Canadian Army Cadets trained with these sets and learnt Morse, radio procedure. Also Rifle drill, and shooting on our own range in the cellar!
Helped me get my first radio amateur licence. (VE3LVS). Learnt fro our "veteran" teachers!
WW2 would have been an allied victory even without the US directly joining the war. It just would have taken longer and cost a lot more lives and material
The Canadian Navy also played an important role in the Battle of the Atlantic.
Bystander One: "Where are all the tanks?". Bystander Two: "They all got blown up in the Ukraine".

Not even a few working T-34 from storage and museums. Not even for this holiday. Even North Korea manages it to make more impressive parades all the time. It's pathetic. 🤦♂
think i saw a is-7 tank can anyone confirm ?
I mean, they're kinda stuck in a horrible position:
They can't cancel the parade, that would have horrible optics.
