So glad YOU had a video for this. You’re literally the only dual sport guy that I trust. There is a DRZ in my pole barn because of you. And I’m gonna say it. The silicone compound smells like cut cocaine. Yeah….I was a hellion in my early days.
I gotta get some! I'm 74 and have short legs and am still unlearning a tendency to fall over on downhill stops when the rear shock unloads. Yes I'm going to have race tech shorten the suspenders...
thanks for the link to the case savers you used. I'd gotten the Tusk savers. Clutch side fit perfectly. Stator side would not fit flush no matter how i manipulated or how hard i pressed down. They would not print my review on their savers. They asked did I want to talk to a technician regarding install...LOL! They asked me to send in pictures of the issue! WTF is wrong with RMATV and their arrogance about their Tusk products? Some I love. Others have been less than stellar. Ride on!
I bought a dr650 back in January. Absolutely love it, has a little more Ass than the DRZ for highway use but is still an excellent off-road machine. Bit heavier than the DRZ but now that I'm used to it I don't even really notice it anymore.
I am a fan of the channel. I was thinking this morning that now that you have the DRZ, you are going to lose all of your dork cred that you have established on this channel. So thankfully I waited til after I watched this video to comment because I see that you still got it. Thanks for the videos.
History of the case savers: A guy in Seattle came up with them, they were sold under the name CFC Case Guards. He private labeled them for Thumper Talk a while after coming out with them, not sure when that was though. I didn't want the TT logo, so I bought the CFC labeled case guards. Nowadays you can buy them all over the internet, from many different companies, and with no logo.
I rode little Sur-ron out to Albany mx today, ran into "Tom" (DR lover), who said that your new DRz would really love the JD jet kit he has put into a half dozen bikes.
I was happy to see you had a video for this! Always happy to watch your stuff. And even happier that this will probably be the first install/mod I do with no mistakes... Although we'll see tomorrow I guess lol. Thanks for the video!
Have any of you had issues with the gear lever touching the cover? I fitted my covers but there is not enough room for the gear lever. It touches the cover. And how have you solved this?
Paste and Mexican food 😂😂 good job on the tutorial! You are making me want to clean my garage so I can use mine for videos instead of having to do voice overs.
I have the thumper talk case savers, dropped the bike and cracked the case underneath the saver itself, all the saver did was keep it from shattering and slowed the leak, not entirely sold
I wanted to say you thank you for the stickers. I received them in the mail yesterday 😃. How can I kick you a few bucks to cover the cost of the stickers and the postage? As always keep up the great content an “be excellent to each other”👾
No obligation, but if you want to send a few bucks then Paypal is the way to go. Email address is adorkintheroadappears @ gmail.com Glad the stickers made it! Enjoy them!
New sub here...hoping to learn...interested in a DRZ myself.i have ridden a DR 650 and like it...it rides a little lighter than it is because it is lower to the ground...suspension needs help for serious off road work..
Dropped my DRZ on a rock and even with case savers installed I ended up with a quarter size hole on the left side. Damaged the internals too. $1100 repair!! Bad luck.
Aftermarket extended shift lever solves that problem. Stock lever is useless anyway when wearing riding boots and using wide foot pegs - you can't get your toe in there to shift.
@@DorkintheRoad Well shoot. No worries Ill probably just leave it all on there. What sprockets combos are you running? the stock is way too tall for my style of riding. I just ordered 14/47....
I used red on mine, later find out they make the same in gray. Someone told me the gaps should be sealed all the way around to keep crap out so now my brand new DR looks like the motor has already been rebuilt. 🤬
yo this guy CONSISTENTLY drops solid content lowkey we take this guy for granted 😂

Dork side for life over here. It's not just a name. It's who I am. 😁
Wow getting done up real nice..looking great fast. You got probably the most bulletproof dual sport that will serve you like a reliable best friend
I hope so!

As soon as you said red was a bad idea, I paused ⏸ and canceled red and ordered clear 😂
Good call 😂

Thanks for the video!
I got Permatex Ultra Grey so it would blend in...need to mount the case savers on my DR650 this week.
out-takes are the best! :)
I was hoping you'd enjoy them
...and especially good outtakes in this one!
Remove ur shift lever and file the sharp corner to a rounded profile
I was laughing the whole time! Especially the “shapes” part.
Shapes are important
Lol. Your a funny dude. I never got the smell of Tabasco from rtv. And they make a gray rtv as well. Great video. And new camera working great I see
Thanks, man!
Enjoyed it massively - as always - and your (you know what line) saved my day again :o)
All for you buddy.

Best post credit scenes yet
The burp is my favorite
Now your bike should be called Grim Reaper. You can even splash your silicon all over the engine and tell everyone it runs on blood :D
Now that's a good idea

I'm glad you appreciated it 😁

Soft drop on accident on loose dirt while bike was parked
That DRZ is sweeeeeeeet l👀king 🙂👍

Feel like the gasket maker probably does more than the aluminum plate.
Hey there what brand is this case saver??
Dropped my DRZ on a rock and even with case savers installed I ended up with a quarter size hole on the left side. Damaged the internals too. $1100 repair!! Bad luck.
Hey man. Does your left side crankcase cover rub on your gear lever?
It absolutely does.
Aftermarket extended shift lever solves that problem. Stock lever is useless anyway when wearing riding boots and using wide foot pegs - you can't get your toe in there to shift.
When I did mine it said 1/16th of an inch thick and leave a 1/4 inch space from the edge for compressed oozing. That's the secret of the ooze.
I understood that reference.
If red smells of Tabasco, will clear smell of wine gums?
Hi, do you suggest disk gard?
I'm dying to go for a nice legal DZ ride.
Only 2 months until my license course.
( x _ x )
Good luck with your class!
Thank you!
And RUclips threw me under the bus with this highlighted comment thing lol
Yes, but what does clear smell like? Us huffers want to know.
Only one way to find out i guess...
@@DorkintheRoad Right...Jrushman has to order the clear goo and the protective plates for his DRZ. :)
Just got the year bike. Have you considered taking off the "smog" bs? I.E. charcoal canister, and pair valve. Thanks
Mine doesn't have any of that. Not required in Oregon
@@DorkintheRoad Well shoot. No worries Ill probably just leave it all on there. What sprockets combos are you running? the stock is way too tall for my style of riding. I just ordered 14/47....
I'm all stock so far. I've been pretty happy with it
Thanks, ride safe.
Do you have a "CULINARY" Degree to install those?😁😆😄😃😀
It doesn't hurt
Who decided RTV silicon was best... ? I would think 3M double sided tape would give it more cushion.. hmmm...
That's what everyone recommends. Would 3M stand up to the heat?
@@DorkintheRoad Good point.. Dunno... What does the case saver co. recommend ?
Mine came with double sided tape. They were gone within 3 weeks.
The cases get too hot for tape. The adhesive will soften and release. Definitely use high temp RTV!
Why you recommend the clear silicone and not the red one ?
I hate packing tape for anything but packing.
It’s all fun and games until your case saver gets dented and you can’t get it off for resale value.
Red = high temp and that smells in acetic acid aka vinegar
I used red on mine, later find out they make the same in gray. Someone told me the gaps should be sealed all the way around to keep crap out so now my brand new DR looks like the motor has already been rebuilt. 🤬
