    Pretty cool invention and certainly works but in very few practical applications. That would never work for a planing hull. I have seen this type of propulsion on large vessels like tugs and ships but in much more of a larger package so there is a use for it. Just not much in the recreational market. Maybe for sailboats if they can thin out the ring.

    Excellent! Now, can you miniaturize that tech and make a spinning lens cover for GoPro's of other cameras? I don't know if you know what I mean but it would be nice to have a spinning lens cover for cameras with a rim driven electric motor to fling water off for clear shots in wet conditions. Also, there was a fellow from Florida, I think, who developed a similar type of motor called the RipJet and apparently was driven by a belt above the water and kicked butt! Info no longer available...was it way ahead of its time? Quashed? Who knows? Cheers, John ;)

    Interesting.. would stream staighteners be beneficial for increased efficiency of laminar flow? Obviously, you have worked out your maximum venturi effect. Have you fully explored your propeller tips efficiencies throughout the speed range. Looks like you have a winner. Keep up the good work. One more question: durability of the props? Life expectancy in varying water conditions in "real life" ...silty, muddy, weedy, salt, fresh, brackish?

    The housing causes a lot of drag in the water. I’m left thinking a more traditional configuration with the electric motor on top (high and dry) is better to more efficiently achieve higher speeds. There are robust variable pitch solutions already developed in a more traditional prop configuration. This might be good for a shore dinghy. The props also don’t seem to be very durable. I’d bet this configuration is susceptible to fouling and damage to the prop (and articulating mechanism) due to debris in the water. It all seems very fragile? Maybe further development might mitigate these concerns.

    We have enough plastic floating around in our waters, don't need these plastic replaceable blades contributing to the pollution. They will break when they impact something so it's not a matter of if they become pollution but when. Hopefully you can find an ecologically friendly replacement for those blades

    • @HyGeneration
      @HyGeneration  3 года назад +1

      Dear Brett, thanks for your message. They could break but the polymer link + centrifugal force is playing for us so it remains in place until you remove it (carful to carbon splinters though). We do not expect this to happen often : no planned obsolescence with us. After this, we will invetigate more sustainable materials (flax fiber) but still a problem with polymer matrix...

    But it’s really just a new type of prop design for a trolling motor right? Cool, but not game changing.

    The problem with all these electronic motors is salt water. Even the best setups I have seen end up getting corrosion in the connectors, causing failure and cabling to corrode from the inside out.

      Hello ! Agreed, this is why we removed all subsea connections. Power cables are connected inside the watertight controller located onboard (through cable glands)
