You can always completely remove the mesh but that's the absolute last resort. A good scrub with iso alcohol usually does the job. Stay tuned for the next long video where I try and do a battery replacement on these ( it's near impossible).

Yes I have an AirPods 1st gen and the sound got reduced so much that more of it is coming from the sides rather than the earphone part so I am using it by interchanging the position like left AirPod in right ear and vice versa so that the side part is on my ear
This is very useful one of my earphone things are muffled and the other ones fine so I’ll clean it right now ty for making a video about this!

This is perfect timing, one of my AirPods just started to sound quieter. Thought I was going deaf on one ear for always using that airpod at loud volumes lol
well how long are you using it a day with loud noise? if youre using it for a while then your hearing can get damaged from that much exposure to the load noise.
Be careful with hearing stuff at loud volumes for a long time so you dont get tinnitus

Turn on your headphone safety in settings under sound, it says it’ll reduce loud sounds, and will alert you if you’ve used your headphones too loud for too long. (Assuming it works for normal AirPods, I have the Pros)

Try cleaning them in your ultrasonic cleaner. It works really well. We do it at work all the time. Just dry them well after.
When I have gunk in the AirPods like the video shows I use the edge cleaner on my vacuum and hold my AirPod so it doesn’t get sucked in. It works out pretty well cleaning the AirPod and getting the stuff out.
Put a thin fabric like a thin undershirt 1 layer over the vacuum even better u can clean keyboards like that too

Guys something that worked for me with my earbuds is to grab a spray of compressed air and shoot it into the earbud eithout the cover on it. Got it right to 100% full voliume
omg tysm i have been trying so much to make my airpods louder, and i even switched to wired earbuds bc i couldn’t really hear with my airpods. so i’m abt to try this and see if it works! (but i trust you so i guarantee it will work)
This may sound weird but a trick to get your AirPods to be louder is to put your lips on the speaker then suck air in. Might seem gross but it works extremely well.

Usually hospital hand sanitiser is iso-alc. Those watery strong smelling ones in big bottles. I use alsoft pure hand sanitiser, it’s 70% isopropyl alcohol, and gets the job done well. Of course there are other brands, but never buy the gel ones or scented ones. Make sure its pure.

Okay this may sound disgusting but one solution is sucking ut out until you feel the air pass through, then spit it out. it works for me every time.

I’ve taken to using my air compressor to blow out all the gunk, it actually works quite well and if you do it correctly you just blow it all out the other vents, and a few times I’ve used too much pressure and actually had the piece that goes in front of the speaker come off which can actually be very beneficial because it allows for a full clean and start over instead of only getting out parts
My right AirPods was muffled and was pretty low after I watch this and cleaned it the same way you did it works way better. Thank you bro keep up the good content
I always just take the mesh out bc i don’t care enough to take the time cleaning it all out. It’s easier and makes it easier to clean when I need to 🤷🏻♀️
It totally worked I’ve had this issue for weeks and instead of buying new ones I used this trick they sound like new!!!

My airpods 3 are literally not even a year old yet, and my right one is louder than the left one. Both fully charged, audio is balanced out, and I tried cleaning them and nothing worked
Honestly I’ve found micro suction to be very useful. I have some old medical and surgery vacuum/suction equipment like you would see during surgery or dental work. It can really get a good suction and has small micro tips to get in there without damaging anything. You don’t want to pop the speakers like an eardrum, but you can balance the pressure perfectly and equipment like that can be found really cheaply on the secondhand or manufacture/equipment auctions. If you work on electronics regularly it’s a definite must have, and you can always use the silent vacuum for other tasks around your shop or lab.

THIS ACTUALLY WORKS! I have a habit of cleaning everything, but still after repeated cleaning of airpods mesh with qtip, volume kept fading away.
Tried this method by:
(1) playing the water eject sound 3-4 times, and did nothing.
(2) started playing the audio again, this time, for 4 mins, took a fresh brush, poured some non-residue sanitizer on it evenly, and cleaned left airpod.
(3) again repeated the audio, concentrated on right one.
(4) finished off with wet (sanitizer) tissue wipe and then with dry tissue wipe.
IMMEDIATELY FELT A HUGE DIFFERENCE! Please try this or my method out!

Holy hell this worked. I’ve had this AirPod that I used for work and one day it just got muffled and I put them in the drawer. Well I pulled them out today and the same thing, so looked it up found this short and it works perfectly. 100% real thanks bro

Mine we're rlly quiet and had to turn the volume all the way up to hear but I just scooped out the access ear wax and put water in the speaker thingy and used a bobby pin to stir it around and it worked perfectly fine

It’s the bottom mesh that’s causing the crackling low volume in calls. That tiny tiny mesh crap kinda mixes with moist dust and what not

Why the gunk shaped like a peen?
Dip a qtip in peroxide & rest it on the gunk for 5-10 mins. Use a thin sewing needle to poke through the holes or proceed with your sound/scrub method. Peroxide is great at cleaning dirt, wax, blood etc
will it ruin my airpoids if I put water thing in the ear phones will they not work and get ruined if you splash that inside of the airpoids

Stick some blue tack in there and pull it out. Always works for all my devices

@TFUSION Nope. He has a point. Just be gentle and you won’t break the driver. Sucking on them always gets the junk out.
The solution is to do what he did in the video. The mesh on the side is so that there’s a pressure equilibrium inside and outside your ear. Clean the inside mesh and you’re good again.
Here’s this method I learned, it might be nasty, but suck on the mesh. It worked for me after my right AirPod was quiet for almost a week.

My AirPods sound muffled but it’s definitely not because they’re dirty. I’ve been having so many issues with AirPods it’s crazy. My first gen AirPods I bought when they originally came out are broken. The left AirPod just completely stopped connecting to Bluetooth but it shows that it’s charging. This time my AirPods 3rd gen just suddenly stopp working. The right AirPod sounds so quite it’s weird

EVERYTIME i use my airpod pro to record anything the first 7-10 seconds are muffled. I can't find a solution seems like a software thing, or a bug. Happens on whatsApp audio message, instagram, anything.
So if one is quieter than the other bear with me for a sec suck on the main speaker till you can feel air coming thru btw I did not inhale wax

another thing that can also help is resetting the airpods did that like 2 times before helped with lower audio thought it was bc i was using it with a windows 11 system or a android phone but it wasnt ,just airpod problems but i definitely gotta clean them tho too

Works with hydrogen peroxide as well if you don’t have alcohol just remember to hold the airpod we’re the black dot is that’s the sensor when cleaning it while playing the water eject sound.

One of my AirPods the right one is muffled when I rarely used it I usually use the left one and it’s perfectly fine and also the right one sounds that hallow if that makes sense?
