R Volkaert and J Hiland have both moved to south-central VA, a drive from where I live in NC. :) .. Kelley's onstage muse was a seemingly eternal fountain of killer, stylized, and 'athletic' Telemonsters! And ya gotta luv any band where being chubby is cool.
I love your enthusiasm for these guys. You’ve given me a new found respect for country music. I’m a rock guy, but I’m seeking out these artists you talk about. Luxury Liner is fantastic. Now I’m off to find some Don Kelly.
I saw the last clip of Ghost Riders in The Sky here on RUclips. I sure hope someone puts it out in its entirety. I would have LOVED to have seen that in person!
I saw Brent and Don at the Stagecoach in ‘82? and many of Don’s players through the years ~ SO inspiring!…& kudos to Glaser for modding Brent’s iconic tele!….what a run Don had!! 🎶💜🙏
As always, thank you so much for sharing the details of this event. Shame it wasn’t videotaped or recorded for those of us unable to attend. Thank you so much!😊
That must have been some show! Wow! Thanks for sharing your experience of it, Zac. I've really enjoyed your interviews with Don Kelley and with his great guitars players. Thanks so much for those, too.
Great show Zac! It would be cool if you could get those alumni together for an Ask Zac episode - man, talk about some stories. I imagine that would be a scheduling challenge, but so cool if it could be done. Tele On!
If you go to lower broadway and don't see Joe Fick playing his upright bass while standing on it's side, you missed one of the best performances in Nashville; Joe has got excitement and energy to burn and he plays that bass like nobody's business!
Was watching one of your older videos and was a little surprised to hear you say that you baught a Telecaster from clawsons music in Corpus Christi Texas. I baught a few from Bob as well. They are still in business. Hanging on like all of us down here. Just wanted to give you a shout out from CC.
Still remember the commercials with the coffee pot bubbling over and the, " don't drink the coffee" slogan. Took lessons there in early 90s from Pat Grogen. Fun times and great memories. Really enjoying the videos. Looking forward to the next.
Very interesting zac yet again, going back for i think the best show for me was the Dillard's kind of blue grass all five then where still alive boy they where good Doug was special .
Vince Gill has my kind of problems ! Where do I keep all of my Guitars 🎸 and Oh Man I’m busy playing with the Eagles 🦅 and can’t play my own gigs ! Shucks!!😎🎸👍
One of my favorite experiences EVAH was when my man Campbell advised me: “You need to go to Robert’s tonite cause J.D. is gonna take his Les Paul!”. I basically stood on his side of the stage the entire time I was there. Signal path: cord/amp. Occasionally interrupted by plugging into a tuner to “check” then, back to cord/amp. Years later I saw him him here in Knoxpatch opening for Trigger Hippy playing thru a borrowed purple plexi stack and a borrowed burst. Caught him at the merch table and asked if he was using the signature fuzz someone had recently made for him. He replied: “Naw man! HERE’S the pedal board!” as he wiggled his pinky at me… They walk among us yo.
What's up with Guthrie Trapp not showing up? Doesn't he owe his career to Don? The rest of these guys showed and some had to travel in and some were even sick. Something suspicious going on with him...
Awesome Zac ❤ 😎. More of Redd Volkaert
More please....
Redd!

Zak you are describing how Jazz musicians work and perform together without a rehearsal but the players know the tunes and the form and how to listen.
I’m just so thankful I got see it in person. So epic!

I admire all of those musicians! Thank you Zac for letting me know about them!
Great evening. And great to meet you! I was in awe to see all those guys in one spot at the same time.
Same here!
You know when you want to comment on a post but you know it's just gonna be way to long?
I just back spaced about a million words😊
Thanks Zac.

Thanks for the inside story. This had to be amazing! That would have been a great live album….
It sounds as if Don Kelley is the "John Mayall" of Country Music. 😮
Thanks Zac!
Does anyone know if there’s going to be a video put out?
Aloha Zac! Mahalo for the inside view of the concert. Great info.
So much talent on one stage, mind blowing !
What an amazing event that must have been.
I'm just imagining a plane ride sitting next to Redd. So cool.
Thanks!
THANK YOU!!!

I bought my first Tele from Bob and Bubba. Great shop! Miss CC

I didn't see Luke on the Ghost Riders video which was a minor bummer.

Wish I had known about it

Have you ever met John Bohlinger, and if so did he say "right on, man" in response to anything you said?
He's a good guy
Is Porter McClister invited to this reunion? Saw him back in 2015 with the band and loved his guitar playing
He was...apparently missed his flight from the West Coast.
I kept wondering how come his name didn't come up. He was my favorite from that line
up along with Redd.

So much energy in one room!! The crowd was blessed. 😇
