So sorry to hear. We understand that all you want to do is to "give". As a 35 year firefighter, My response to comfort is, "We'll get through it." 4 years. Our world needs more people like you to share, create, love, engage and give joy to those around us. We'll get through this.
Lee, you are the poster child of perfection. I’ve had the privilege of being able to play music with you. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing your incredible artwork. And I own your book. Every single thing you touch is always done perfectly and top drawer. Do you ever sleep? Anyway there’s a billion people out here who love and adore you. I’m just one of them. I just hope you take good care of yourself and that you, Maureen and the boys have a wonderful Christmas👍🙏❤️
Postmaster DeJoy has financial interest in one or more competing delivery companies. His priority seems to be his need for higher returns on his investment than the American people.
It’s not just you, Lee. The post office is no longer reliable for delivery of packages. It had gotten worse every year but this year it’s beyond hope if you are trying to send packages and care about them actually arriving in a timely manner you have to use FedEx or UPS and up charge the customer. I got a check from a client and it took four weeks to go four blocks based on the postmark. I’m so sorry we all have to deal with this.
I'm so sorry. I don't like to see you frustrated especially this time of year. We know you are doing everything right. Romeo is in my prayers 🙏🐾🐾 💙 We love you ❤ Take care Be safe
Hello Mr. Sklar! You have been a huge inspiration to me and my bass playing. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from South Louisiana. Hoping all goes well with Romeo.
Hi Lee, my one message won’t aleve frustration, but I hope is one of the building blocks to do so. I would not worry about doing daily vids. IMO, is not necessary. I hope post office delivery things work in your favor in the future, and hope Romeo will be ok. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and family, and immediate family.💕🎶🥂
Lee, I'm in Norfolk,Va.had the same thing happen, I contacted my Congressman's office and reported it and got results fast. My suggestion is attach this video to the formal form required to fill out for your US Congressman and or US Senator. It's worth a try.
I sell stuff on Ebay and I understand this problem. If I just put my orders in a US Post bin to be shipped they often do not get scanned and take forever to be delivered. What I always do now is stand in line at the postal counter and get each item scanned and a receipt. At least that way I can prove I actually shipped the items. For the most part I have had very few problems with USPS.
I ordered an item recently and the vendor includes a disclaimer that USPS doesn’t always do incoming scans, but to be patient, it’s not the supplier’s fault.
I'm so sorry you are dealing with this frustration. Just not fair. Best wishes to Mister Romeo on a speedy recovery. Hope your day improved, take care. Merry Christmas to you and your family and the best of wishes for 2025.
I got my book pretty fast, no problems. But that was before the Christmas rush. Sorry you’re dealing with this, Lee. Part of the problem I see is “instant gratification” and Amazon. Everyone take a deep breath, your book will get there. By the way, I love my book.
Hey lee. I fully understand your frustration. The only thing you can do. Is order your book waaaaaay ahead of time. I think. Better to get your book too early than too late. There is nothing more you CAN do now. I’m sure the people will appreciate this video of you explaining. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 greetings sir. 👋🏻
On a positive note, I received my book within 10 days of ordering. I was pleased it came so fast. It is a gift. I appreciate your careful and secure packaging.
I love your transparency! You’re an awesome guy! Keep up the good work! Much ❤! I’m sorry about your frustration, that sucks! Merry Christmas! And have a Happy NewYear! Much ❤
Happens to me from time to time. USPS just too busy to scan everything. Just tell the people to be patient and 99.9% of the time they'll get their item.
Leland...From what I've been hearing', it's not only USPS,but Amazon,UPS,Fed-Ex,are all having these problems. Not about the season, but all this year.Hope the little guy is ok.
Lee, i feel your pain. It is impossible to hold anyone accountable in the USPS for anything. Unfortunately, it is not better with FedEx. People where i live in Nothern Ohio have had packages stuck in a FedEx sorting facility since Thanksgiving 😢.
I’m sorry the postal system is giving you such a hard time. It’s little comfort, but everyone is suffering from the poor mail service. We appreciate the effort you put into bringing joy to your fans. Best healing vibes to Romeo for a speedy recovery!
Canada Post workers have been on strike for quite some time. The mail is important for people. I wish you a Merry Christmas and I also wish Maureen all the best. Cheers, Leland! 🙏✌️
That is incredibly frustrating, Lee. Very bad that you have to send out another copy and then the original shows up. It's a huge expensive book it's not like it's a greeting card. All the best for the puppy recovery.
Evidently Congress is frustrated too, because I recently saw them tearing him a new one. I doubt it'll get better after the inauguration. Maybe just don't try delivering any more before Christmas. People will understand. (You are so beloved!) Better to increase the possibility of getting them where they are going if the risk is too high.
You have Postmaster General DeJoy to thank for destroying our postal service. I was in the mailing & shipping industry for almost 30 years and saw the investment in equiment, technology & personnel for an efficient and dependable postal system to see it dismantled & ruined in eight years is horrible.
Hang in there Lee! I hope you have a great Christmas! I hope and pray for your dog as well to get through and recover from his surgery. Sorry that it is so frustrating about the USPS. It is frustrating when people do not do their job!
I am so happy that I was able to get one of your books! I showed it to my brother ( a musician) who was blown away by it and he wants one now. Perhaps people could be offered an option to pay for FED EX now. Porch pirates, poor service from the postal service etc. I'm sorry you are going through this with your books. I can tell folks that these books are wonderful! Don't stress too much over this Lee. I would venture to guess that most of the people who love your work are going to be understanding. Wishing you some calming walks, some good hot cups of tea and lots of love.
i have your book and thank you for writing a message in it to me. Love the book and enjoy looking through it because there's so many great shots and it has a proud sport on our coffee table. It pains me to hear this is going on and hope it will get better. Have a terrific holiday, Leland. We love you and all you do on your RUclips channel and online for us. It is appreciated.
As screwed up as the USPS seems to be these days, we are comparing it to past performance which used to be outstanding. But compared to postal systems in other countries, our current system is still *far* more reliable. I am not excusing the decline of USPS quality of service, however. It is due to mismanagement; political appointees are notoriously unqualified.
Lee....I just finished saying prayers for you in regard to your stress (which is entirely understandable) and further prayers that your dog, Romeo..in that Romeo would have a successful operation and recovery. Peace and love to you and yours.
The pup will be just fine. Relax and let go of the frustration. As I always tell my SO of 30 yrs, nothing is ever as easy as it initially seems it would be…
I manage a small retail business, and I can relate. The situation you describe has happened to me too, on occasion. Sometimes when I leave labeled and paid-for packages on the counter at the post office, someone evidently just puts the packages into the process but WITHOUT scanning the labels first. As a result, there's a certain time period where the tracking just says, Label created. There's no way to know where the boxes went. Eventually, yes, the packages arrive at their destinations. Something you could consider is to take the boxes physically into the front part of the post office. Make sure everything is scanned and that you get receipts. And then, it's up to the carriers. I know, it might be more time-consuming. But at least you would have proof and peace of mind. I wouldn't consider sending replacement copies until more than two weeks have passed, for in-country shipments. And keep in mind that even though the top administrator of the organization is problematic, the workers in the individual offices are often better than him. They ARE constrained by system rules. Anyway, GOOD LUCK, Lee!
Postal problems? Heck, over here there are hardly real post offices anymore, only kiosks, groceries and supermarkets doing it as a side show. For old fashioned letters, delivery is weeks, months or never, even for less than a 50 miles of distance. For packages, this is the norm: you get an SMS saying "there's a package coming today", then a few hours later, another one saying "we've been by and couldn't deliver", even if you were home and waiting, with a perfectly functioning doorbell, maybe even looking out of the window most of the time. Then usually a few days later, you get a message about which shop your package is waiting in. Actually getting a package is a major success, and this video proves that it's a worldwide trend.
something to calm your nerves. The truth of the PO matter is that they're operating in the red. They are broke. So anything that tips the scale, an employee calling out sick, seasonal bulk mailing and even a box of books can push them off the financial cliff. Email, along with virtual banking and bill paying has all but destroyed what was once a vibrant and necessary communication tool. No more. So take heart and plan forward for next year ( if the PO even still exists at all) to send your bulk mailings months ahead of the holiday season. 🎄
Don't get me started on the USPS. I have had to deal with the same frustrations for years. I've gone in circles with them, but it doesn't seem to matter who's the head of the postal service. As David Byrne said, "The same as it ever was! The same as it ever was!" Best wishes for your puppy. I wish you happy holidays despite our killjoy postal system.
Hi Lee, I made the same experience when I bought something from James Taylors Webside. It took nearly four month till it arrived here in Germany. So I decided to buy your book here in Europe. Although it is not signed. Maybe you come to Europe, perhaps with Lyle? I will be there! :-) Have a wonderful christmas!
Here's a tip from someone who has experienced the same frustration. Specifically, always have the post office scan your mail in your presence and hand you the receipt. Yes, this can be a pain, but nowhere near as much pain as having to ship duplicates. Without that scan, you end up where you are now, meaning your books may or may not get delivered, and your customers will think you never did anything but print the label. Also, if you are using media mail, the only guarantee you have is that it will take a LONG time to get there. A minimum of 2.5 weeks is a good rule-of-thumb. I hope you find this information helpful.
Also he had the high speed sorting machines damaged on purpose to sabotage the post office. Then most people will say see the gubmunt can’t do anything right
Hey Leland 👋 photograph document the book postmark at the post office. To show customer and post office when tracking. I always do it with important packages
Leland, I agree with your assessment of DeJoy. Service has gone very haywire under his leadership (and I used that word very loosely). I hope your pup comes through the surgeries well and recovery goes smoothly. Peace.
It is the same thing in Sweden and they have raised prices and lowered their standard. It's just tragic. Really hope everything goes well for little Romeo.
I rely on the USPS for delivering items I sell on eBay. I self-print the labels using eBay’s online labeling and shipping payment system, and then drop off the packages at the post office without having to interact with anyone. I’m a low volume seller, but I have not experienced problem issues. I’m always able to track the packages using the tracking number provided by eBay, and the packages are delivered within the expected time frame. Sorry you’re experiencing the issues you’ve described. I’d be frustrated, too. It’s impressive to hear how personally you invest yourself in order to provide excellent customer service.
When I take anything to the post office that's important I photograph it in case of a dispute. You can show that to the customer and to the post office when you ask what happened to the book. God bless bro
Heard the same story from some small businesses. As others have mentioned, you may need to hand them to a postal worker and watch them scan the packages into their system. I realize that it causes more work up front, but hopefully, it'll put an end to the whole label printed hell.
So sorry about the mailings today. I have recently waited for one single piece of mail to reach its' destination here on the East Coast of the United Stated for nearly two weeks. It was just acknowledged as received yesterday! Regarding your Romeo feel better please when he gets back home later today. My best Anniversary wishes this Holiday season to you and Maureen! 💞 ✨️
Lee, I deal with this daily. I too print the labels and drop them off. The post office uses this to delay priority & ground mail-paid packages. Last week, I had four dozen packages where I dropped off orders the same day my customers placed an order, only to find most had moved in their system. The label reads "Label Printed waiting for delivery" or "Label printed, waiting for pick-up," making it seem like I never shipped it as promised. It happens every Christmas/Holiday season, but this year is the worst. I know they are so far behind, which is no excuse. I would switch quickly if I had a more favorable shipping option. I can only say that they finally reach their destination, not in 2-4 days, but in 6-14 days-however on many, the label never did update-so now you have to rely on your customer being honest if they received it or not. Such a huge problem. I've stopped shipping priority and using only ground, so why pay for a service not provided during the holidays? This is by far the worst year in my 28 years of shipping. Wish I had better news, but that's it in a nutshell. Happy Holidays to all!
Leland you are not alone. The US Postal service has been destroyed by Post Master General Louis DeJoy who has a competing shipping company interest New Breed Logistics. I’m having difficulty with first class mail and my bank mortgage statement not being delivered to me arriving on time amongst other business shipments that I send through USPS. ~ Happy Christmas Leland
LEE! Getting ready to send one of my Bibles to "Bibles and Coffee", for a new cover. That's a $150 budget item, and If they lose it, my card-carrying ASCAP self will be upSET. I hope these guys get the lead out. One of these daze, I'll get my copy. Have a great Holiday season, sir. God Bless you and yours. I wish you a stellar 2025.
FedEx? Hope the dog does well. You said there are things you have to do this time of year....well, I would suggest you are choosing to do the things you do. Keep your head up my man!
Ow the USPS increases their pricing for the holidays because of the volume increase. It’s already crazy expensive and, as you said, the service is subpar.
Instead of the post office try taking it to a third-party shipping place. Have them scan it and keep the receipt. (No charge for this) I have a feeling you'll have better luck than just dropping it at the post office. We sell on eBay, books and other things and have had great success doing this.
Take them to the desk and watch as the clerk Scans each book... OR- Get a service like endicia or Pirate Ship who let you print a Scan Sheet. Have the person at the dock scan that sheet ("accepted")
Lee, I know this doesn't personalize the books, but I would be perfectly happy to purchase an electronic version of the same book. You could do some kind of RUclips video greeting to that individual as a way to "personalize" the purchase. Just a thought. It would certainly take a bit of the hassle out of using the postal service, especially during this time of year.
This frustration seems to be a malignant tumor of customer service in lots of areas and companies. I have one word for this Leland and I experience it almost everywhere. INEPT!!!!! Doug. We have to initiate our own customer service including medical, dental and so on. You have to be proactive when we should be taken care of as paying customers. You were kind with the word frustration, as I, feel my description doesn't come close to how angry I get. Hang in there brother. More battles at our age is a Major pain in the A**. I guess I was deluded in thinking as we aged, things would at least get a little smoother. Merry Christmas to You and Maureen and the pups and The Immediate Family. Still Love in a New York Minute.
“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” Australia Post’s motto is “we deliver” which is becoming quite farcical as well. On the bright side your Book is a Hit!
Sorry to hear. The man in charge has his own outside shipping interests and was put there to make it fail. You'll be seeing more of that so they can justify dismantling and eliminating most departments. Not fearmongering, it's the new reality.
Hello Lee, that's not nice news. You're a good person, you're too good for this world. It's not nice to treat such a lovely person like you like that. It's not your fault. I'd like to buy a book with an autograph from you, but unfortunately I can't afford it. But I watch your RUclips videos with great attention. You were already a great role model for me in the 70s. I pray for Romeo, everything will be fine. A Merry and Healthy Christmas to all of you. Wishes Rudi Blankenburg from Tangermünde/Germany 🙏👍☮
I ship things in my business as well, they are missing the “scanning in” step from what I’m told. It is very frustrating when they ship with no scanning. I enlisted the help of a person that works inside the post office years ago and when they are on vacation there are often problems. Best wishes on the pup and the books! Donny
Yeah, Leland, I hear that about the USPS. My latest utilities bill that I paid and sent on time was lost somewhere in the mail. My check wasn't cashed even after 11 days. I cancelled that check and paid my bill with my debit card at the utilities office. I tried to set-up a "pay on-line account" over the phone, but they wanted my driver license number and my social security number to do it...NOPE! Not going to give out that info if I don't have to give it out. This crap reminds me of postman Neuman on Seinfeld and his devious tactics with the mail. All the best to you, sir AND Romeo, too! Merry Christmas! Have a marvelous 2025!
Don't worry about hitting us every day. Most of us are grown up and can understand coping strategies. As for those who can't... up their nose with bong water! 😂
Hey Leland, I'm with you man, I have no faith in the US Postal Service. I'd rather go via UPS or FedEX. They seem to take their Sweet time. My suggestion is that you can complain to the USPS Office of the Inspector General (OIG). I know deserve better service. Merry Christmas, you're the best!!
One of my lifelong friends is a local carrier here in Mississippi. Robin has seen her Jeep blow up due to how hard she runs our rural routes; she has had people almost t-bone her. I dunno who's fumbled this, but maybe a rookie warehouse guy!? Hang in there. Thumbs up for Romeo! ❤
It's not a great comfort for you but be assured that it's not only a U.S. problem. We have similar issues here in Germany. Just listen to Frank Zappa's "Flakes" and you know what's going on.
So sorry to hear. We understand that all you want to do is to "give". As a 35 year firefighter, My response to comfort is, "We'll get through it." 4 years. Our world needs more people like you to share, create, love, engage and give joy to those around us. We'll get through this.

THIS. Every word. Lee is an international treasure.
When I preprint my labels, I always ensure that the postal worker gives me a receipt that the item was scanned in.
You’re right and it’s worth standing in line
DeJoy has taken the Joy out of the USPS.
I can't recall there ever being any joy associated with the USPS.
Postmaster DeJoy has financial interest in one or more competing delivery companies. His priority seems to be his need for higher returns on his investment than the American people.
@naturecurry1331 Be prepared. It's about to get much worse, across the government.

Hoping that the surgery went well and that Romeo is on the road to recovery!
Please, let us be kind to one another. We live in changing times. Leland Sklar, we are grateful for you and your messages.
It’s not just you, Lee.

I'm so sorry that you're experiencing such difficulties, Lee, and I wish Romeo a quick and uneventful recovery.
I'm covering my ears every time I hear DeJoy
I'm so sorry. I don't like to see you frustrated especially this time of year.
We know you are doing everything right.
Romeo is in my prayers 🙏🐾🐾 💙
We love you ❤

Anything sent by mail a few weeks before Christmas takes extra time despite the USPS slow delivery time.
Canada Post workers have been on strike for quite some time. The mail is important for people. I wish you a Merry Christmas and I also wish Maureen all the best. Cheers, Leland! 🙏✌️

I cannot trust the USPS to get my electric bill across town in time to meet the due date.
The post office has a legacy of incompetence.
I guess it depends on where you live. I’ve always had good service from the postal service since I’ve been here for 14 years.
Post office has lost multi billions over the past decade!
Hopefully new administration will clean up this crap
@@williamgoodsene6048 Given that Trump appointed the guy who's currently running the USPS, that seems unlikely.
I find they all do this stuff. I ordered some stuff that was sent next day UPS. Took like 5 days and some of the items were perishable.
Aw, Romeo won't have his Jingle Bells for Christmas! 🔕🔕
💯🧠💪💚👊.🙏
Sorry to hear how the post office has treated you and other merchants
BINGO.
Heck of a job, DeJoy.
😂😂😂
Instead of the post office try taking it to a third-party shipping place. Have them scan it and keep the receipt. (No charge for this) I have a feeling you'll have better luck than just dropping it at the post office. We sell on eBay, books and other things and have had great success doing this.
Take them to the desk and watch as the clerk Scans each book... OR- Get a service like endicia or Pirate Ship who let you print a Scan Sheet. Have the person at the dock scan that sheet ("accepted")
Sending you positive vibes Lee. The postal system is broken. Wishing a speedy recovery for Romeo. Happy holidays.
There was a time the US Postal Service was best run agency in our government.
@@GailBrum True. And why not now? Lol.
Love my book too 🩵👍🏻
Me too!
“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds”
Australia Post’s motto is “we deliver” which is becoming quite farcical as well.
On the bright side your Book is a Hit!
Sorry to hear. The man in charge has his own outside shipping interests and was put there to make it fail. You'll be seeing more of that so they can justify dismantling and eliminating most departments. Not fearmongering, it's the new reality.
Sorry for your stress. You think that’s bad, go Christmas shopping with my daughter. YIKES. Hope Romeo will heal quickly. Thank you for your time. ❤❤🙏
Having the same experience this week waiting on a package from another company.
It’s a frequent occurrence and only a tactic used by the post office to delay shipping.
they will show up. media mail tracking sux, especially during busy times, like holidays.
Sending you nothing but Love and Peace, brother. ❤
