My dog was watching me play FF7 Rebirth the other day, like, actively staring at the dog character (RedXIII) like he was an actual dog, so the fun fact matches up. My TV was set to 120 hz mode at the time.

Another fact - because component video uses a simple RCA cable, there was no royalty required by each and every device make that is required to be paid by HDMI. So we now all pay extra because each and every device manufacturer must pay an annual fee and royalty to use HDMI. It was okay initially, because most TV manufacturers offered both HMDI & Component inputs.
This mean, device makers (DVD/Blu Ray, gaming consoles etc...) could keep costs down by just using component video. For example, Sony makes a really cheap DVD player that only has component video....which is why in part it is so cheap. But the problem, is without a component to HDMI converter, it is almost impossible to use on modern day TVs
You cannot find modern AV receivers that even have component inputs anymore, and went away really about a 5- 8 years ago.

Just a little correction with your comment about not noticing an improvement when you switch to the newer component cable. You say to check your TV's settings, but you are showing changing the output setting of the source, in this case it looks like the Nintendo Wii settings. You may have to check the TV too, but usually the TV changes to display correctly when the setting on the source changes.
The TV may also do some upconversion of the signal you feed it, but it with do a lot more with 480p than it can with 480i, which is half as much picture data.

@@SimpleCafeE Yeah, I have used them a lot more. Scart were basicly only used here in Europe and maybe somewhere else also, but not in America. It straight sends a rgb signal and so has a better picture, no need to use those rca type cables, only one big cable.
