That was so much fun! Thanks so much for sharing. You always inspire me to delve ever deeper into the world of computer science. Have a wonderful evening!
I'll tell you about the technical classes I've taken so far! Math - Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calc I, Pre-Calc II, Calc I, Calc II, Calc III, Differential Equations (Calc IV), Linear Algebra, Statistical Methods, Probability and Statistics, and Numerical Analysis. Science - Physics I, Physics II Computer Science - Comp Sci I, Comp Sci II, Data Structures, Advanced Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Design, Computer Systems and Architecture, Operating Systems, Programming Language Concepts, Intensive Linux Programming (after this I have to take Guided Design to Software Engineering and Senior Project). I am also taking Android Application Development, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science courses (the rest I'll fill in with design courses or electives). I'm majoring in CS and minoring in Math (I finished my math minor already.......phew). Graduated from community college and transferred into a university where I am pursuing a B.A. in Computer Science. Two more semesters left after this one. You had a really fun and interesting journey, good to see you enjoyed your experiences overall. I too love the hackathons, I've been to two. The projects and "free food" really inspire me. ;)
My degree in Brazil so far: 1st year: Calculus I and II, Physics III and IV, Logic, Digital Circuits, Algorithm I and II, Research Methodology, Introduction to computer science (review of the whole course), Discrete Math, Analytic Geometry 2nd year: Data structures I and II, Computer architecture, Calculus III and IV, Programming Languages, Object-oriented Programming, Linear Algebra, Microprocessors, Probability I, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Operating systems I 3rd year (so far, I'm in the first semester): Probability II, Database I, Numerical Methods, Software Engineering I, Computer Networks I, Operating System II and Graph Theory (first semester)
In my Computer Science II course we went over operational overloading(we used C++ and not Java). Through some miracle of God I passed the test with a 100. My jaw dropped when I got my grade back. To this day idk how. Out of like 15 people only 3 passed the exam. The instructor curved that shit and gave us a chance to retake it and average the scores. I'm about to finish my Associates degree and go on to my bachelor's level. I don't plan on sticking with computer science. I've decided to go into Accounting. I love Computer Science, but my heart isn't in it long term anymore. This was a wonderful breakdown and I'm happy for you. 😊. I ended up tutoring the entire programming concentration. It was so bad that I had to tutor people while also physically in the course myself. That was one factor that turned me away from the field. I helped one guy for over 6 hours at the end of the semester because he didn't turn anything in. The teacher was so strict at first about turning things in on time, but then like 4 weeks in the course he had like an early(he's 28) mid-life crisis and was like turn everything in whenever I won't doc points.
@@insdel3227, funny story: Accounting wasn't for me(I like it and respect it) and I realized Computer Science was, lol. I think I got burnt out and needed a break. All is good. I actually switched to a IS program(information Systems) because it had a emphasis in accounting. So I'll finish a decent chunk of the Accounting program, anyways. Might go back later on and finish it, completely. Thank you for asking. I hope all is well for you during these crazy, weird, and overall uncertain times.
Hello Katherine, I am going to be going to a technical college next year for a software developer Associate's Degree. any tips for me? I don't know anything. But, I am determined to not GIVE UP! So, any tips to gain self-confidence for the interviews? How am I going to learn to code? how do I study it? Please get back to me as soon as you can. Also, is math a very big part of the day to day work, just worried cause my math skills are not as high as they should be. Please get back to me as soon as you can with any advice! Thank you!
Pretty much feels like my curriculum. Except films. We had every subject out there. Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Electronics, Databases, theory of Computer Sciences, Discrete Maths, Computer organization and architecture, Operating systems, Human computer interaction, Computer Graphics, Multimedia programming and so on. 😅😅😅😅😅
this is not related to the current video but I have a question. How do I know when I am ready to move on to learning data structures if right now am learning a language. To give more context, I know the basics of Java, am learning the basics of python, and I am scared of DS and Algorithms. What do I do? When do I move forward?
Just start. Pick up Cracking the Coding Interview and work through that book. They give a great explanation of data structures and algorithms. My 30 days of code series might help too.
No my dude you should focus on one language and get strong with that language. Data structures should be something you know before you just go off and learn multiple languages... like that’s not smart... so focus on one ☝🏾
What's your opinion on apprenticeships? I don't know if they do them in the US but in the UK you can take an apprenticeship instead of doing full-time college/uni.
I'm used to Java but compiling time.. not. And in some other languages to some degree you can change the source code while the program is running and the process seems much faster.
here are the classes for my CS major: MATH: Calculus 1 Calculus 2 Calculus 3 Discrete Structures Linear Algebra LAB SCIENCES: Physics 1 Physics 2 COMPUTER SCIENCE CORE REQUIREMENTS: Intro to algorithmic design (C) Introductory Programming (Java) Intermediate Programming (Java) Building secure web applications (Mostly Python and SQL) Compiler theory and Design Operating Systems Computer Systems and Architecture Data Structures Organization of Programming Languages Object-Oriented concurrent programming Design and Analysis of Computer Algorithms Computer Graphics Current Trends and Projects in Computer Science (Thesis course) COMPUTER SCIENCE ELECTIVES: Artificial Intelligence Foundations Machine Learning Artificial Intelligence Solutions Image and Signal Processing

why a ba and not a bs?
@@bigredone1030 some schools have CS department in liberal arts department, also math department too, like my school probably had that...
why da F do u have precalc-II? we covered all of it in 1 semester
@@mattdathew2794 You can choose between ba and bs most of the time. Well, that is in most public universities.

Very similar in Sweden although I think we have fewer and larger classes.
