One article about SMOKY said “It is Jooheon's autobiographical song that sings about his reflections on the past, his present resolutions, and his future hopes”. He went on hiatus after experiencing anxiety, he even fainted after a performance, I think it was around new years 2019z He went through so much during that time, it was close after to WH left.

The fact that the Red Carpet video goes from cute bright colours to dark, sexier vibes is a dorect reference to Jooheon's duality and the two types of music and feeling that he produces.
Now that you're this far into your journey, and still have SO much music and content to explore, do you understand why Monbebe are so passionate about these men and why we are tired about how overlooked and slept on they are? It's so frustrating seeing the Kpop community leave them out of the discussions of vocals, dance production, looks etc etc etc, they have everything, they are everything and their genuine personalities capping it all off make them even more precious. Jooheon is a true Ace, Monsta X are all all-rounders and they honestly deserve so much more than they get. I'm so glad that you found them and that you genuinely love them and see them for the incredible people and artists that they are 💙

After Wonho left the group, everyone in the group was broken. Jooheon too. At the end of the year, he fainted during a performance. The company then announced that Jooheon had been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. He was in hiatus for a long time, received treatment and returned to us with new music.

Smoky is a song that continues to hurt, because knowing that Joohoney had a worse time at the time of Wonho's departure and a lot of work and reached the point of having a hatius is painful, Monbebe suffered a lot but he suffered more, this song was to express everything he felt at that moment 😢

Jooheon is such a comfort person for me. I don’t know how he does it, but he manages to put words to thoughts and feelings that I’ve never been able to express well, and I’m so grateful for that.
In Psyche's bridge, the crew that appears with him are his childhood friends. His idea for bringing them in is to pay homage to the people that helped him get to where he is today, and he wants to bring them all up with him.

So with freedom there was some who didn’t like it only because they don’t know jooheon. It was some who don’t know his style. But us fans we did have that same reaction and we loved it. We knew he was capable of it. I think he wanted to pretty much say you just can’t put him in a box saying he can only rap. But he can write produce sing and dance. We also call him little MJ 😂

if I'm not mistaken, when Smoky came out, he was coming out of his hiatus for mental reasons, this is never said in Korea but I think that basically he had a mini depression which is not surprising when we know the energy they have put and continue to put and the little recognition they have in Korea
I was so devestated when Joohoney went on hiatus. I was going through a rough time mentally around that time too and to think he was struggling like that too made me sad for him. Seeing him take time for himself though and coming out with Smoky as a result actually inspired me to go back to therapy and try harder to take care of my own mental health. He inspires me so much.
I love his songs DIA and Hype Energy. Red Carpet is still my overall favorite though.
It pains me every time i listen to Smoky. He was suffering so much, crying and praying in the dark every night (btw i'm not exaggerating it he literally told us that) he was having a tough time mentally overall. If i remember correctly, monbebes even witnessed him getting in the ambulance car after fainting upon finishing a performance right? So he took a hiatus and wrote this song about how he was feeling at the time. It's really heartbreaking💔

i listen to smoky often when i have hard times, because i can relate so much with the lyrics. it feels like the things i want to say, including the wish to get out of the dark place. it gives me strength and motivation to move forward...

jooheon is such a genius and talented person. he's a real artist. I'm always amazed at how versatile he is. he can produce all kinds of songs for mx, while also maintaining his style in his own albums. i have high respect for him, really.

It is not without reason, that JooHeon is one of my overall top favorite artists 😉☺️ Before getting into MONSTA X, I didnt really like or care much for solo's - enter I.M, JooHeon and KiHyun... 😅🤭 The 'Lights' album is the first solo album I've purchased and it is SO GOOD!! 'Freedom' is basically just JooHeon showing off his many and diverse talent of rapping and singing. "Hype energy' and 'Evolution' are my favourites on 'Lights', the production of especially 'Hype energy' is crazy and the vocals and lyrics of 'Evolution' is just beautiful 🥹
I also love, love 'Psyche' and 'Smoky' and basically that entire mixtape 😅 Its soo GOOD! 😢😊
Hi, I know this is 7 days after your viewing but he is referencing his depression. He actually had to “check” out of performing for a while. He did not accompany the guys on their U.S. tour while promoting their first all English CD “All about Luv”. They are the first K-Pop band to put out an all English CD. With so much mention of Wonho I hope you’d check out his solo works too, he was a great factor in the group and he even did write and compose some songs too, Jooheon was super affected by his departure and I still believe that it really got to him too, Jooheon’s a really sensitive and emotional person who feels deep, he and the group really didn’t have much time at all to fully recover and deal with what happened

He is so talented. In the making Smokey behind the scenes video, it shows him working with the kids, it's so cute and funny. Since I live in a cold weather state my all-time favorite look on him is the cargo pants, flannel and beanie from Psyche video. Except maybe the bathtub look, or the White shirt in a concert look. Thanz for the video and for showing him some love.
There is a song on the Psyche album that has his industry sister Esther former rapper Tems of 4Tens and her daughter Oli (she is the little girl you will see in a few USA Concert behind the scenes) Esther even uploaded on RUclips videos of these especially Oli's interaction with the Members and how she calls all the guys her brothers and Oli's Uncles) the song is called Wing Suit it talks about family. The guys standing behind him in the warehouse are his friends from the HipHop team in high school that included Tems called J.U.S.T.
Jooheon is just amazing! And yes, Freedom is a great song! So with Smokey he came out with it right after he came back from hiatus. He was on hiatus because he was suffering from bad anxiety and then wonho left the group and he loves wonho as he does every other member and then he couldn’t handle it anymore. So then he came out with Smokey. It was right after when monsta x was done with there first English album promotions. I think he was there in the beginning and then he left. There is a rumor that his niece who is his girl best friends daughter did the child chorus part. Maybe along with others. But I heard she was apart of it. Her mother and him are not related but very close and she has been growing up with jooheon the daughter. And she knows every member also.
I don't think that Oli was on the song. It was a kid choir from korea and Oli's family live in USA (If I'm not mistaken)
