No fast charging and no thermal battery management in the Leaf, makes the decision for me (I would also be looking at used). 95% of my charging will be at home, but when I do travel fast charging is essential for our wide brown land.
I'm comparing these two vehicles as possible options for our third family car. I'd be buying a second hand 2-3 year old one. If you wanted to drive from Sydney to Melbourne in either the Hyundai IONIQ 28kWh or the Nissan Leaf 40kWh and planned the trip using abetterrouteplanner.com/ then you'd need to spend 4 hours and 11 minutes charging in the Nissan Leaf but only 2 hours and 4 minutes in the Hyundai IONIQ. While I would never want to do this, does illustrate clearly that the Hyundai is clearly the more efficient and more practical EV.
David Kent the old IONIC is definitely a winner for that use case. Check out Bjorn Nyland’s 1000km challenge data for more comparisons over long distances.
I disagree with your reason, seeing as it would be a third car... 2 years ago that is. A 5-year old used leaf costs half as much as the equally used ioniq. So for half price, if 90% of your needs are met, then there is great value there. I'm planning my 2025 purchase now, and I am thinking about used leaf vs Ioniq. Not sure which one will win.
We have before Leaf 2018 end i sold en bought ioniq 2018 toppmodel til now i don’t have somuch experience but I think i lower consumption end heatpump end faster charger Maybe it’s better to have ioniq ! I live in Norway end here winter its so long 5-6 months end better to have ioniq

Rick Adrian both support fast charging, though the LEAF cripples charging rate when the battery gets hot 🥵 #rapidgate
1:58 can you choose a slower charge with Ioniq CCSS?
