Very fortunate I’ve been with two units and have had ZERO issues with either. And since my current XBOX is from one of the final production batches, it’s caps are much better, so hopefully it will continue to run for years to come.
thats luck. My xbox is modded with a different launcher so it was easy to put games on it, it has been working even after almost 10 years not using it. It was certain day I tried to test it and I got 2 errors; the first was the AV cable, it was in very bad conditions so I went to get one. The second was the DVD, at the moment I got the error I was like "oh, crap" but when I saw the code It wasn't a problem so I only changed it the same day I got the error. I really love this console bcs is like my childhood friend who teach me all this wonderful gaming world. If you guys still have one after these year it's a treasure

For the GRoD, the XBox wasn't displaying the word XROUTER2, it said XECUTER2. It was a modded XBox, and perhaps the mod was not installed correctly and it could have corrupted important data.

Error Code 09 = Hard drive parameters are missing or incorrect

Error Code 13 = Dashboard failed to launch due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed
Error Code 16 = Internal clock cannot be set
Error Code 21 = Unspecific/generic error

Error 06 is for your hard drive being locked with the wrong password.
Error 07 is usually for a missing hard drive.
Error 09 is for incorrect or missing hard drive parameters
Error 11 is for your Xbox not detecting a CD drive (your CD drive could be dead if you get that error)
Error 12 is for incorrect or missing CD drive parameters
Error 13 is for your dashboard failing to load and your Xbox couldn't specify why it failed
Error 16 is for a missing or dead clock capacitor
Error 21 is for a corrupted dashboard error.

Fun Fact: The original Xbox was full of leaking capacitors. Including the clock capacitor. If you were affected with a leaking original Xbox clock capacitor, when dead, you'll get error 16. Error 16 is for a dead or missing clock capacitor. And that's why Error 16 is the most common error code.

I yanked mine out of the system and it works just fine. Only stipulation is that I have to reset the clock when the console loses all power for any reason.

Yes, endeed, that's a fact I got to replace the motherboard, powersupply, hdd, and even the dvd drive, power eject board, all fried because of an electric storm after i repaired the original motherboard with 16 code error and it shows error 12 after that i swap dvd drive, original dvd drive capacitors form the board, dvd drive power cable, eaven i put a pc dvd drive but nothing happens if its fried, its fried.
Idk why but I really love the Original Xbox’s interface so much. It just has such a charm to it.

Me again! The GROD clip: You're spot on. However, the cause here is because the console was clearly modded, and whoever put in the chip did a terrible job. That was an instance of the modchip, commonly known as XECUTER2, failing and therefore bricking the console.
1:52 I think it actually says XECUTER2 which would suggest that the flashing light is probably being caused by a bad hardmod (which might also explain the bad output) but then again, I don't have much experience with hardmodded original XBOXs other than playing the one my uncle had when I was like 6
Maybe it says that because the light is because of the GPU, BIOS or fans, and the Xbox needs the GPU/Fans to operate properly?
It's a hardmod, and likely custom bios gone wrong, if im not mistaken the flashing lights just say that there is something wrong with the hardware and that it needs to be sent to support. Its either a bad flash or failed hardmod

This guy was running a custom BIOS with an Xecuter modchip. You can tell because of the 'XECUTER2" logo. It could be a legitimate issue with the board, or it may actually be a problem with his modchip installation.

First off, at 1:52, it says "XECUTER2", not "XROUTER2". The Xecuter 2 is a modchip for the original Xbox, and as such could mean both things. A) The BIOS was flashed incorrectly, bricking the system or B) The modchip was improperly installed.

There is also a RRoD on the original Xbox with no video output. If you have modchipped a 1.6 (made in 2004 or later) Xbox it requires you to sever the so called "L trace" powering off the on-board BIOS ROM. If you start the Xbox with the L trace severed and no mod chip it reboots twice and you get the flashing RRoD. You can probably reconnect the L trace somehow but it is a massive pain.
Step 1 break the trace
Step 2 solder 2 cables to the broken points
Step 3 solder the cables to a switch

back in 2006 my GPU fried because the thing was filled with SO MUCH dust, so while i was playing Doom 3 as a little boy the thing just crashed and i turned it on and off and there it was the flashing red ring.... it was honestly really upsetting when you’re that young.

This brings back memories of when my family got a refurbished Xbox from GameStop.. the sucker would legit sound like a damn can opener anytime it tried to read a disk and 9 times out of 10 in would constantly crash. We’d just have to unplug or hit it (ah yes bc that made sense lol) and it would work for a few hours. Such fond memories of playing Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis!
I would have taken it back to GameStop. GameStop refurbs are infamous for being comically bad. There's a RUclipsr on here that reviews GameStop refurbs, some of them are horrendous, dirty insides, missing screws etc, you name it.

1:28 Maybe I can explain the "Screen Flickering" issue.
Once I repaired my boyfriend's original Xbox and changed thermal paste, I noticed melted plastic on each motherboards and 3 capacitors
are also melting from the electrical circuit. Could be also the clock capacitor melting away, causing a lot of damages and even start burning the board!
So there's my 3 main reasons (could be more) that flickering could happen :
1. Melted motherboard
2. The 3 capacitors below motherboards melting away
3. The clock capacitor melting and burning the board away
More like, everything on the Xbox is melting

@@danielbrand737 The owner of that console is using Team Xecuter's console mods/executer and probably messed up something causing the bootloader to corrupt.

I got Error Code 07 before. It means the HDD is dead and needs replacement...like that's possible since the HDD is coded to ONLY work in your XBOX. So putting a replacement NORMAL HDD in it would result in Code 06 I think.

Favourite og Xbox game would have to be Blinx: the time sweeper. It was basically a platform that you could control time in. Pause time, and enemies and moving platforms would stop. Fast forward and they'd move faster and you could rewind too.

That was my jam when growing up! It's one of those games that never gets much attention anymore, I love how they tried to build a whole established world with its own language and everything, it's a shame he never got picked up as a mascot.

The voices on the Xbox background are actually NASA radio transmissions, that were modded to make this sound like aliens developed the Xbox, i had one a few years back
