thats luck. My xbox is modded with a different launcher so it was easy to put games on it, it has been working even after almost 10 years not using it. It was certain day I tried to test it and I got 2 errors; the first was the AV cable, it was in very bad conditions so I went to get one. The second was the DVD, at the moment I got the error I was like "oh, crap" but when I saw the code It wasn't a problem so I only changed it the same day I got the error. Me again! The GROD clip: You're spot on. However, the cause here is because the console was clearly modded, and whoever put in the chip did a terrible job. That was an instance of the modchip, commonly known as XECUTER2, failing and therefore bricking the console.
Fun Fact: The original Xbox was full of leaking capacitors. Including the clock capacitor. If you were affected with a leaking original Xbox clock capacitor, when dead, you'll get error 16. Error 16 is for a dead or missing clock capacitor. And that's why Error 16 is the most common error code.
I yanked mine out of the system and it works just fine. Only stipulation is that I have to reset the clock when the console loses all power for any reason.
Yes, endeed, that's a fact I got to replace the motherboard, powersupply, hdd, and even the dvd drive, power eject board, all fried because of an electric storm after i repaired the original motherboard with 16 code error and it shows error 12 after that i swap dvd drive, original dvd drive capacitors form the board, dvd drive power cable, eaven i put a pc dvd drive but nothing happens if its fried, its fried.

There was another error which was caused by trying to connect to Xbox Live using a modified console (so you were able to play pirated games) which caused it to crash with a static red light, same green text screen but the entire text was Japanese Katakana - Another one is that trying to read a PAL disc on a modified Xbox caused artifacts on the game's interfaces and objects (Tested with French NFS: Most Wanted) - And another one that occurs while trying to connect to Xbox Live after the original Xbox Live support end, which causes a green text screen with a No Connection code

Once I repaired my boyfriend's original Xbox and changed thermal paste, I noticed melted plastic on each motherboards and 3 capacitors are also melting from the electrical circuit. I would have taken it back to GameStop. GameStop refurbs are infamous for being comically bad. There's a RUclipsr on here that reviews GameStop refurbs, some of them are horrendous, dirty insides, missing screws etc, you name it.
1:24 This guy was running a custom BIOS with an Xecuter modchip. You can tell because of the 'XECUTER2" logo. It could be a legitimate issue with the board, or it may actually be a problem with his modchip installation.
I got Error Code 07 before. It means the HDD is dead and needs replacement...like that's possible since the HDD is coded to ONLY work in your XBOX. So putting a replacement NORMAL HDD in it would result in Code 06 I think.
Favourite og Xbox game would have to be Blinx: the time sweeper. It was basically a platform that you could control time in. Pause time, and enemies and moving platforms would stop. Fast forward and they'd move faster and you could rewind too.

There is also a RRoD on the original Xbox with no video output. If you have modchipped a 1.6 (made in 2004 or later) Xbox it requires you to sever the so called "L trace" powering off the on-board BIOS ROM. If you start the Xbox with the L trace severed and no mod chip it reboots twice and you get the flashing RRoD. You can probably reconnect the L trace somehow but it is a massive pain.

My father had an original Xbox given to him as a birthday gift when I was little. He used to let my sister and I play it every now and then (I had to be at least 6 and my sister 4 when the Xbox stopped working. I think there was an internal problem that he didn’t want to fix. I thankfully only remember when it did work (I don’t think I witnessed any errors).
When that lag occurred at 0:06, I jumped out of my seat. Scared the crap outta me. Kind of sounds like when my iPod often goofs, and has to reboot. The "Green Light of Death" error with the XBox logo flashing off and on the TV reminds me of how front loading NES consoles would act because of the 10NES lockout chip.
I used to own an Xbox which miraculously started getting RRoDs. I could play a game for about 30 minutes or so, then the console would get exceedingly laggy and flash the main light green; on the next reboot, it would red-ring with either error code 11 or 12. The first time I ever got the error it was error 12, then when I rebooted it the error was error 11. I was really young at this point, and thought it was some kind of self-destruct timer initially; it scared the crap out of me! Nevertheless, once I got over myself it was a lot of fun to try and figure out what was going on with it. Later on in middle school I took it apart for a school project; I ended up losing a screw for the disc drive, which changed the error to error 7 (and inverted the color pattern for the RRoD). The console never worked again, and was trashed very soon after. Long story short, this video was quite a throwback!
I think you need to put in a new hard drive. Error Code 07 means something wrong with the hard drive AND 11 & 12 means something wrong with the CD Drive.

Also, The RRoD can be caused by a moded console, I had a moded console and it RRODed almost every 3rd time I turned it on, but it was easily fixed by a hard reset
Gosh I hate seeing it. Error 07 is damn nightmare for any Xbox fan. Error 07 basically means HDD failure. Some instances are lucky and the IDE cable just came loose but most times its a dead HDD which means a bricked console. The Xbox's security was based on matching eeprom keys. One was on the mobo and the matching key was on the HDD. Each mobo and HDD was one of a kind for each system. When the Xbox booted up the first thing it did was check for that matching eeprom on the HDD. Which means if your HDD ever died, when the Xbox boots up and tries to find that matching key on the mobo, it can't resulting in the dreadful error 07. You couldn't just swap the HDD out. You HAD to have another HDD with a matching eeprom. The only way around this was to plan ahead by soft modding the console and using an eeprom reader app to rip the key so you'd have it for later so in the event it happens you just build a new HDD using the key or just replace the HDD then. If you didn't plan ahead then the only way to bring it back to life is to have an eeprom reader tool which will read the eeprom directly off of the mobo. Otherwise you just have a bricked Xbox.

Why do devices get so loud when a significant component dies? It really is quite fascinating… My PC had a blue screen phase, and it hade some REALLY loud ones at times. Luckily after 7 months neglecting it, it decided blue screening was too childish to do anymore. Previously getting multiple kernels, GPU, and many more. I got a couple dozen different codes, and dozens upon dozens of repeats, it was every 5 minutes. Guess that was my experience with first year Windows 11.

This brings back memories of when my family got a refurbished Xbox from GameStop.. the sucker would legit sound like a damn can opener anytime it tried to read a disk and 9 times out of 10 in would constantly crash. We’d just have to unplug or hit it (ah yes bc that made sense lol) and it would work for a few hours. Such fond memories of playing Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis!
I would have taken it back to GameStop. GameStop refurbs are infamous for being comically bad. There's a RUclipsr on here that reviews GameStop refurbs, some of them are horrendous, dirty insides, missing screws etc, you name it.

This guy was running a custom BIOS with an Xecuter modchip. You can tell because of the 'XECUTER2" logo. It could be a legitimate issue with the board, or it may actually be a problem with his modchip installation.
i guess "XECUTER" makes more sense than "XROUTER"
I got Error Code 07 before. It means the HDD is dead and needs replacement...like that's possible since the HDD is coded to ONLY work in your XBOX. So putting a replacement NORMAL HDD in it would result in Code 06 I think.

Favourite og Xbox game would have to be Blinx: the time sweeper. It was basically a platform that you could control time in. Pause time, and enemies and moving platforms would stop. Fast forward and they'd move faster and you could rewind too.

That was my jam when growing up! It's one of those games that never gets much attention anymore, I love how they tried to build a whole established world with its own language and everything, it's a shame he never got picked up as a mascot.

I bought the game recently and really enjoyed it.
There is also a RRoD on the original Xbox with no video output. If you have modchipped a 1.6 (made in 2004 or later) Xbox it requires you to sever the so called "L trace" powering off the on-board BIOS ROM. If you start the Xbox with the L trace severed and no mod chip it reboots twice and you get the flashing RRoD. You can probably reconnect the L trace somehow but it is a massive pain.
Step 1 break the trace
Step 2 solder 2 cables to the broken points
Step 3 solder the cables to a switch

My father had an original Xbox given to him as a birthday gift when I was little. He used to let my sister and I play it every now and then (I had to be at least 6 and my sister 4 when the Xbox stopped working. I think there was an internal problem that he didn’t want to fix. I thankfully only remember when it did work (I don’t think I witnessed any errors).

When that lag occurred at 0:06, I jumped out of my seat. Scared the crap outta me. Kind of sounds like when my iPod often goofs, and has to reboot. The "Green Light of Death" error with the XBox logo flashing off and on the TV reminds me of how front loading NES consoles would act because of the 10NES lockout chip.

I used to own an Xbox which miraculously started getting RRoDs. I could play a game for about 30 minutes or so, then the console would get exceedingly laggy and flash the main light green; on the next reboot, it would red-ring with either error code 11 or 12. The first time I ever got the error it was error 12, then when I rebooted it the error was error 11. I was really young at this point, and thought it was some kind of self-destruct timer initially; it scared the crap out of me! Nevertheless, once I got over myself it was a lot of fun to try and figure out what was going on with it. Later on in middle school I took it apart for a school project; I ended up losing a screw for the disc drive, which changed the error to error 7 (and inverted the color pattern for the RRoD). The console never worked again, and was trashed very soon after. Long story short, this video was quite a throwback!

I think you need to put in a new hard drive. Error Code 07 means something wrong with the hard drive AND 11 & 12 means something wrong with the CD Drive.

I still think it's crazy that the RRoD existed long before the 360, but no one talks about it, since it happened to your 360 if you sneezed too close to it
Also, The RRoD can be caused by a moded console, I had a moded console and it RRODed almost every 3rd time I turned it on, but it was easily fixed by a hard reset

Gosh I hate seeing it. Error 07 is damn nightmare for any Xbox fan. Error 07 basically means HDD failure. Some instances are lucky and the IDE cable just came loose but most times its a dead HDD which means a bricked console.
The Xbox's security was based on matching eeprom keys. One was on the mobo and the matching key was on the HDD. Each mobo and HDD was one of a kind for each system. When the Xbox booted up the first thing it did was check for that matching eeprom on the HDD. Which means if your HDD ever died, when the Xbox boots up and tries to find that matching key on the mobo, it can't resulting in the dreadful error 07. You couldn't just swap the HDD out. You HAD to have another HDD with a matching eeprom.
The only way around this was to plan ahead by soft modding the console and using an eeprom reader app to rip the key so you'd have it for later so in the event it happens you just build a new HDD using the key or just replace the HDD then. If you didn't plan ahead then the only way to bring it back to life is to have an eeprom reader tool which will read the eeprom directly off of the mobo. Otherwise you just have a bricked Xbox.

@@Dd-gi5lm error code 11 means your dvd drive timed out. Either the power cable was loose and it wasn't getting enough power or the IDE cable was loose and it couldn't transfer data. But it looks like it fixed itself :)

Why do devices get so loud when a significant component dies? It really is quite fascinating… My PC had a blue screen phase, and it hade some REALLY loud ones at times. Luckily after 7 months neglecting it, it decided blue screening was too childish to do anymore. Previously getting multiple kernels, GPU, and many more. I got a couple dozen different codes, and dozens upon dozens of repeats, it was every 5 minutes. Guess that was my experience with first year Windows 11.
